Disappointing
I want to share my experience at this gym, and unfortunately, it has been quite disappointing.
Firstly, I have been a member since the gym opened, but I recently had to change gyms due to ongoing issues. I raised concerns about privacy and filming by staff members through emails to PureGym head office. Despite my clear requests, the response (by Lily) indicated that the local manager at the Dumfries gym allowed staff to record and post content on social media.
Quote: “ I have recently heard back from the Dumfries gym manager regarding your concerns surrounding PT's filming in the gym. We have been informed that PT's have permission to film on site for their businesses and social media”
This directly contradicts the gym’s official rules, which clearly state that filming is not allowed and that the rules “don’t bend.” This inconsistency in rule enforcement is extremely frustrating and undermines trust.
In addition to the privacy issues, the gym’s climate control is problematic. During the summer, the gym becomes unbearably hot due to the metal roof, making it extremely difficult to train. Unlike in winter, where one can simply add layers, the summer heat makes training nearly impossible. In winter, it’s somewhat easier to cope by adding an extra layer before warming up, but the changing rooms become extremely cold, making it uncomfortable when getting changed. I’ve also tried to take showers after training, especially during lunch hours, and the water is often freezing as well.
Additionally, the changing room conditions are subpar. The sink area often has a strong, unpleasant odor, making it uncomfortable and reflecting poorly on the gym’s maintenance and cleanliness standards.
Overall, my experience has been disappointing, and I hope the gym management takes these concerns seriously and works towards consistent rule enforcement, proper climate control, and improved hygiene standards.

Temperatures/air con in our gyms are automatically regulated by Smart machines, but if there is a persistent issue staff may be able to override it and can certainly report it to be checked by engineers. Whilst there have not been concerns on shower temperatures flagged during the monthly temperature checks, this will also be looked into further. Staff very friendly
Staff very friendly and nothing too much bother for them. Cleanliness is excellent of the gymn and toilet/changing room areas. Always a welcoming smile from staff in Dumfries

Fab gym
Great equipment staff and classes are fab really enjoying my pure gym experience where it works for me who can’t get out the same in the darker days/nights.

Super staff, good gym
I needed a drop in gym whilst visiting Dumfries for the weekend. This gym was perfect. Great staff, knowledgeable and friendly, plus a very well equipped organised and clean gym.

Been meaning to go back to the gym for ages and because recently I have a bad knee and my health needs to improve big time so I hope this goes well as i will be very apprehensive about going in to the gym but the signing up was very easy

The gym wasn’t busy
The gym wasn’t busy - always able to get a running machine. Changing room and shower area was very clean . I had mentioned previously how cold the gym area was but this has been much better on my recent visits .

Great facility
Great facility, airy plenty of room and loads of equipment so no waiting around. Staff very friendly and helpful if needing some quick advice. A very well managed gym.
