The Helsingør Nightmare with PureGym: Fired, banned, and threatened for speaking the truth.
I love the gym and the staff in general, and I actually think PureGym is fantastic. Just not their management.
When a billion-dollar corporation makes grave errors and commits illegal acts, you expect them to clean up their mess. At PureGym, the strategy has been different. When caught abusing their power, they invent new accusations, ignore actual evidence, and send a lawyer to threaten the individual into silence.
Scope of the case: 10 months + approx. 100-150 inquiries.
September 5, 2025: Following direct instructions from my District Manager, I submit a written report regarding illegal conditions at the workplace. I never received a reply.
September 9, 2025: I receive my termination via a private text message—sent directly by the exact same Club Manager whom my criticism concerned.
The Regional Manager initiates an investigation into the matter, but no investigation is conducted, and PureGym closes the case.
November 4, 2025: In direct retaliation once again, I suddenly receive an email issuing a 2-year ban as a member—again without any prior dialogue or justification. PureGym’s own log data shows that the last time I visited the gym was November 1. Again, PureGym fails to respond despite the evidence.
November 17, 2025: PureGym’s Regional Manager and the external trainee attorney reject the whistleblower aspect of my case and make serious allegations regarding my behavior. It is claimed that I used the wrong channel. This is an official lie. PureGym’s own policy states that the immediate manager is the correct channel and that one can report without fear of retaliation. The exact opposite has happened by firing and banning me, and then claiming it was the wrong channel by circumventing the reversed burden of proof.
January 19, 2026: Whistleblowerordninger AAB merely forwards the response from PureGym and investigates nothing, as they act solely as an intermediary. This means that the channel responsible for ensuring an investigation is, in reality, PureGym assessing itself.
Furthermore, PureGym rejects my data access request (aktindsigt) and states in black and white that they do not possess any documentation. It is therefore utterly mind-boggling that they uphold such severe decisions. They write that there are complaints from multiple members but refuse to show them to me when I ask, choosing instead to escalate the situation.
June 10, 2026: ''The Public Lie and Threat''
Following pressure on Trustpilot, PureGym writes after 10 months that they will now reassess my case. I hear nothing for over a month, and finally, I receive a response: One where I am directly threatened with lawsuits and damages if I publish the content—which I am doing now.
The core of the matter: I worked and acted in good faith, reporting conditions as instructed by management.
In return, I was punished with termination and a ban, along with a continuous cover-up of the case, as well as threats and allegations that never occurred. For nearly a year, I have requested documentation across all emails, and not once has PureGym presented even a shadow of evidence. The reported manager at the time has subsequently been fired from the gym.
The central questions I demand answers to, which PureGym evades answering:
How can PureGym justify a termination and a two-year ban by citing behavior and complaints, when the company’s own HR Director states in writing that not a single internal note or record exists regarding the matter?
Why is the whistleblower aspect rejected by claiming I used the wrong channel, when the corporation’s own policies explicitly describe the "immediate manager" as the correct initial reporting channel?
How can PureGym maintain a ban based on allegations from November 4, when their own central IT and data team's log files document in black and white that I have not even been in the gym since November 1?
Why do you guarantee reporting "without fear of retaliation" when you fire me 4 days after I speak up, and ban me shortly after?
Why do you publicly promise a "reassessment" on Trustpilot, when the truth is that you are investigating yourselves, and you subsequently let the reassessment fall completely flat only to respond with threats?
Do you honestly think this has been handled correctly with reference to standard practice and proper case management?
I demand the immediate withdrawal of my ban. I refuse to accept that a billion-dollar corporation's only answer to a solution is expensive lawyers and lawsuits to fix its problem. I demand that PureGym resolves this immediately in a fair and humane manner.

PureGym's basic offering is a fine, straightforward gym. The equipment range is reasonably good, and although the gyms get busy at times, I've found it fairly ok to find times I can train.
I'm very disappointed, though, with the Plus membership. I've been paying extra to have access to other gyms. Another gym I've used before suddenly dropped out of the tier I'm allowed to use, without warning. That really disrupted my day, having gone out of my way to visit it. It feels like a classic bait and switch: I've been paying for an add-on that was no longer any use.
Customer service was useless on this. First off I was talking to a robot. I waited nearly 36 hours for a human response, then the person ended the chat immediately because I didn't respond within 10 minutes.
Needless to say, I won't be continuing the plus part of the subscription - just as soon as I can persuade customer service to respond to my request to downgrade (the chat seems to have gone dead at the moment). And frankly I can't wait till I live closer to another gym and can forget about the customer service mess that is PureGym.
Friendly staff, new and modern equipment, plenty of work out spaces, most importantly have women only working out space which is much more comfortable

Their app is overly cluttered and useless, gym isnt great in and of itself
Sign up process is utter nonsense, you're a gym and I had to mess around just to get an active account AND the app STILL is saying inactive even after taking my money/DD set up
Im already cancelling after my first visit back after binning you off last year, from the moment I hit the door and remember all your processes to get in, how messy/clunky the app is.. cant wait to never be across the door again.

i have used PureGym for 8mths, my experience has been nothing but positive, the equipment is maintained well, occasionally a piece may be out of order ,but it seems to be repaired quickly.
The general atmosphere in the gym is clean and friendly, with many diverse people there of many different abilities and ages,
i have used a few of the on-line classes, they are very clear in there instructions and aims.
I visit the gym in the early hours and have limited contact with the staff, and they seem friendly,

I cancelled my gym membership today because the gym is consistently overcrowded. Many young people come to the gym only to sit on their phones, even when there isn't enough equipment available for others to use.
There are not enough cable machines, and they are constantly occupied, so I rarely get the chance to use them.
The car park is also limited to 2.5 hours. They have recently introduced new signs stating that even if you register your car, you are not allowed to stay beyond the time limit.
To make matters worse, there has been no hot water in the showers for over a month, so unless you enjoy showering in freezing cold water, it's very unpleasant.
Overall, I no longer feel that the gym provides good value for the membership fee, which is why I decided to cancel my membership.
