False free entry promoted but it doesn't work so you still have to pay

Was supposed to be free entry from my daughter as she has plus membership, but the link doesn't work so had to pay £9.99 for the privilege when I belong to another gym. Don't offer things if you cannot uphold it.

We did experience an App issue which prevented members from being able to add their chosen Free Friend. We do apologise for any inconvenience caused during this time.

This has now been resolved and the main member will be able to send out a new link straight away; just make sure to log out and back into the App so all updated.

Awful staff! Awful establishment!

Started my membership here a few months ago at first it was all fine and i really enjoyed visiting the gym. However, in the past recent weeks the staff here (not all) have been getting quite rude to people within the gym causing some hostile comments around the gym. This has made me feel quite uncomfortable and made my gym journey quite awkward. This is not the case with all staff members just the one with the blond bob and fringe and the ginger male. I've watched Both staff members remove people from the gym especially some teenagers and i've also watched them shouting at teenagers about what they're doing within the gym.

Awfully rude managers

Me and my friend are frequent visitors of this gym and have been going just over 2 years now. Although my friend has witnessed rudeness from staff in the past which was not acknowledged in her complaint, we also witnessed backlash towards us by 2 of the managers this afternoon. We left the changing rooms wearing crocs and began to take them off leaving us with just socks on. We have just worn socks alone every time we have worked out in the past and have never been flagged on it as we never saw the issue. One of the managers proceeded to aggressively shout at me and my friend for wearing just socks in the gym and claimed to have told us that he’s ’told is this before’ which is incorrect. I questioned this asking if he did do this and he aggressively replied ‘yes i have.’. Me and my friend were rather taken a back by this and were told after we couldn’t even wear crocs - which is also utterly ridiculous. I would understand the frustration if it was a reoccurring issue he had with us but he hadn’t mentioned this to us before. I’m very shocked by the treatment of the members here by the managers, as ideally the gym would be a welcoming environment since it is already an intimidating atmosphere. Support and corrective criticism rather than anger and rudeness towards me and my friend would have been much nicer. I suggest you learn some manners before you work in a place that is full of socialisation.

Rude managers

A recent review of mine has been deleted regarding a previous hiccup with one of the managers at this gym, however I’m writing this review based on the awful treatment me and a friend received here today. When I left the changing rooms, I was wearing crocs and was planning to go barefoot, however one of the male managers decided to aggressively shout at me and my friend “you need to put shoes on! I’ve told you this before!”. Me and my friend have never once been told this but accepted it despite the manager’s rudeness. He then went on to shout again and say we couldn’t wear crocs. We are happy to abide by the company policy and from now on wear appropriate footwear, however at the time we didn’t know this was an issue. The attitude of the manager was absolutely appalling and was clearly an attempt to intimidate two young girls. As stated before, this isn’t the first instance of staff at this establishment being significantly rude and I know for a fact it isn’t just me who has experienced it. Very disappointing. Manners go a long way but the staff here clearly don’t have any.

Staff do undertake regular maintenance checks and work hard with our equipment providers to ensure that our equipment are fixed as soon as possible, if any should be broken. We are equally as disappointed when this happens and sometimes need to wait on engineers but will have all equipment in full working order as soon as is safely possible. If you have any concerns about equipment, please notify staff on site as soon as you can. Thanks, PureGym.

Gym is freezing

I attend the gym early in the morning and it is very cold. Even after a cardio session I have to put a jumper back on. The air being pumped out is freezing.

Temperatures/air con in our gyms are automatically regulated by Smart machines, but if there is a persistent issue staff may be able to override it and can certainly report it to be checked by engineers. Some advice.

I would suggest installing some new machine as pendulum squat, at least 1 more flat bench for chest bench press and 1 more multi power. We have to queue up all the time.

Disappointed

I had to cease membership for a major operation. When looking to rejoin I was not able to take advantage of a reduced fee because my recovery was insufficiently advanced at the time of the offer. On requesting the local gym to assist in helping me take advantage if the good deal it took 4 days for the gym to respond and they did nothing to help. I found that disappointing as I had used the gym for a long time before needing to stop for the operation.

Joining fees are applied to cover the initial administration costs associated with setting up a new membership and direct debit agreement.

A joining fee would be applicable in these circumstances unless there is an active promotion available.

We ask all members to be mindful of the time they spend on machines, but also recognise the important of rest in-between sets.

There are no rules against using your phone in-between working out. If you feel this is being abused and have specific feedback regarding changing room improvements, please speak with your Gym Team in-branch who can assist further!

Like most 24/7 Gym's now the sign up…

Like most 24/7 Gym's now the sign up process has to and in most cases is, very simple and Pure Gym is no exception.

I paid the upfront costs and my pin arrived soon after. There is always room for an improvement and The Gym (Sorry to mention the competition) compile a pin that is partly based on your Birth-day and Month with a random four digit extension on top of that - it does make remembering your pin much easier than the pin issued by Pure Gym which appears to be completely random.
I will memorize the pin in the next few weeks and whilst I can use the app for zero hassle, I try and keep my mind active and working!

Not a lot of kit for the price you pay…

Not a lot of kit for the price you pay unlike other pure gyms that’s are cheaper and have double the amount of kit.

It's one of the best gyms i've been to

It's one of the best gyms i've been to, its got lots of equipment and machines, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The only reason I gave it a 4 star and not a five star is because they dont have any ez bars, but apart from that they're great.
