LANDLORDS BEWARE!! As a landlord I use an agent to find my tenants. One particular agent uses Rightmove for referencing. What they do not tell you is that Rightmove will give you a very scarce report to say whether the applicant has passed or failed. This “report” only gives the applicants name and current address. No employer details, no financial details ( only states the income ) nothing else. Infact the report state “ we understand X is employed”. This is not good enough. Having asked for the raw data so I can make an informed decision that all documents have been seen the answer is no! I hold an ICO as a letting agent yet Rightmove have refused to disclose information even to the agent who requested the reference. Now the tenant is refusing to show me bank statements as he said he already showed them to Rightmove.
How can a landlord seriously make an informed decision about a tenant when they see no proof whatsoever of employment.
In my opinion the Rightmove referencing is not worth doing unless you want a very vague, non committed report of the prospective tenant from a third party.

i was happy with this site until i wanted to change the email, the whole thing went screwy, it was lucky that after i deleted all the ones in google and complained that i managed to reset it at the end.
it really should not be that hard, they just have to confirm its you

1. You have advertised my neighbours property as mine.
I want the old photos of when we purchase d the property in 2007 and not my neighbours photos.
Also you need to remove my property address from what you have listed as my neighbours address.

Response: To clarify, I have already engaged directly with Rightmove Customer Support. The issue is not communication, but the requirement to provide copies of personal ID for the removal of historic property images and marketing materials, despite offering proportionate alternatives and despite other major property platforms resolving the same request without ID.
This is why I felt it was important to leave this review. From a user perspective, the approach felt excessive and out of step with reasonable privacy expectations.
If Rightmove is willing to resolve this without requiring government-issued ID, I would welcome that.
Original review: I contacted Rightmove to request the removal of historic property images and marketing material for a home that is now a private residence. While other portals (including Zoopla) removed the same data without issue, Rightmove insisted on copies of personal ID to proceed.
I’m not comfortable sharing ID documents for this purpose, particularly when alternative verification methods could be used. The process felt excessive and disproportionate for a simple request to remove old photos and brochures.
Disappointing experience and far less privacy-conscious than other property platform

I DO NOT RECOMMEND! 0 RESPONSE! 0 COMMUNICATION OF ANY KIND!

I'm only giving 2 stars cause I eventually got the apartment I wanted.
This was such an unnecessarily long process and all because rightmove referencing can't seem to communicate effectively.
I viewed my property on the 24/10/2025, paid the deposit 25/10 and then finished mine and my partners referencing on the 30/10. Right moves open banking says we can get a response in around 2-3 days. We were planning on moving on the 17/10. We didn't get referencing done till the 22/10 which meant we couldn't get the keys till the 26/10. All because Right move refused to call the right people or give us any information to help move the referencing along.
We were under the impression that rightmoves version of referencing is easier and quicker and that they would handle all correspondences well, but they did not and they left us in the dark most of the time with no real solution or help. We called them almost every other day for a month trying to get them to just send an email to our guarantor, they did not do so and would not tell us if they did stating GDPR.
We would ask them to call our guarantors HR to confirm income at around a certain time so they would be in the office to answer and they would again stating GDPR and that they can't tell us if they will or have called during those times.
We played this back and forth dance with them and we were increasingly getting impatient as we did not want to lose the place we wanted. We eventually had to get a second guarantor and had to ask our letting agent to process it from their end as Rightmove had refused to give us the information needed to get this referencing passed.
They do not communicate, if we did not call we would not have known about them not sending emails, or calling, or actually doing their job! I am surprised places still use them and I will hopefully be able to avoid them in the future.

as an agent being on rigthmove for number of years, having done a calculation of their benefit to charge ratio they are well average and not worth the money they charge agents. i recomend all agents to use other portals as they are more or less similar. bye bye portal mafia.

Field Palmer took photos in my home and listed via Rightmove in July 2025 for sale, I could see they were listed in Rightmove “Buy” section for viewing. I signed the listing agreement with Field Palmer there’s no progress in Dec 2025 so I asked Field Palmer to stop the advertisement including the photos listed publicly. Since me and my family is still living here, we don’t want to expose our interior home condition forever in the public. Field Palmer confirmed me that the advertisement and photos were off from the website. However, I checked and realised all those photos were delisted in “Buy” section but all appeared in “Sold” section. I’m the first owner of the property, the only sold transaction back in 2021 and it was empty when it was firstly sold to me. All these photos were not relevant to any “Sold” status of my current property but it’s my current home photos but being put in “sold” section by Rightmove without my consent. I request to delist them, Field Palmer pushed me t negotiate with Rightmove directly. Rightmove request me to provide personal details including driving licence, land registry, etc. to proof my ownership which I never being asked or gave them back in July 2025. I wonder the reason of me sharing my personal details including all my personal data with an agent Rightmove I didn’t deal with directly. I got their reply as below: I have written to Rightmove DPO (Data Protection Officer) but have no response. I’m going to ICO and seek further legal advice against this but I want to share this with you all. Rightmove will become proprietors and own all your photos and data your real estate agents assign to them. When you want them to remove any of that, they will ignore the real estate agents request which was the one who provided them the photos but Rightmove will request the property ownership to share their own personal details further with Rightmove which they should not have at the very beginning.
12/1 - Rightmove said I shared their staff email their staff wrote me back with her name stated which break their GDPR, but they posted all my current home photos attached to my home address clearly stated in Rightmove is not breaking my personal privacy nor GDPR. I now put abbreviation of their staff (customer service) at their request. Also I am going to talk to local police force about the risk of my current home address n photos being used without my consent n risk of causing burglary or home invasion.

Re: reply from Rightmove
My question is did Rightmove request my identification document back in July 2026 when they listed my photos there to protect me by verifying it’s a real request from me? If not, how can they verify my personal id now with who n with which way? I want an advice from anyone who can comprehend this.
In addition, don’t mislead the public. The photos is my current home photos where I am living in, not “SOLD” property photo back in 2021 when the unit should be empty as it’s newly built. Rightmove use current photos in “for sale” section putting them in SOLD property section without anyone’s permission or consent. This is a fact.

Verification process is truly awful. Rightmove really need to reconsider this ridiculous puzzle. It's enough to put me off the site and go elsewhere.

Reply from Rightmove
What I'm trying to say is.
Why can we not see the inside of the properties no more.
This helped with bidding so people do not waste time picking the wrong property so the right family can get it.
Also with the new policy in accepting or refusing a property rules.
All of this has families waiting for properties that's being review n rejected resulting in the property being put back into bidding system.
Right move was the only site that help us families to view inside out.
Now the site has removed it.
If I got it wrong then I do most apologies, however
I've searched different properties and you can not view the inside out no more.
It's just unfortunate.
