Rohan underwear – durability issue and complaint handling

I purchased around 20 pairs of Rohan underwear, including Merino & Aether, which was a significant expense for me. Over time, many of the items developed issues relatively quickly after purchase, particularly with the waistbands losing shape and becoming uncomfortable.

I raised concerns at the time, as the deterioration appeared much sooner than I would reasonably expect for underwear at this price point. The same issue occurred across multiple items, which suggests a broader durability problem rather than isolated wear and tear. I also own cheaper, older underwear that has not experienced the same issues.

I provided photographs and a full explanation of the faults. The response was that the items were too old and the issues were consistent with general wear and tear. A £40.80 goodwill gift card was offered instead, which relates only to my most recent purchase and does not reflect the number of affected items or the early onset of the problem.

While I understand there are limitations due to time passed, I would still expect a more balanced assessment where there is clear evidence of consistent early failure across multiple items.

I have now accepted the goodwill offer, but I remain disappointed with both the durability of the products and the handling of the complaint.

My recent experience with Rohan Customer services can only be described as excellent. I had cause to return a jacket which I purchased last June, due to a small unexpected manufacturing failure. The garment was replaced (without quibble) with a new one from their latest catalogue and because it was in the sale they made up the original value with a free pair of trousers.
I have no hesitation in buying more clothing from Rohan because they made a negative situation into a positive experience for me - Thank you Ellie

Good product, fair price, speedy delivery

Was outside the Rohan store in Inverness when I became unwell. The kind lady member of staff noticed my situation and came outside to check on my welfare and invited me inside to sit down so I could recover. My sincere apologies, but I didn't get her name, but she showed me such kindness with her consideration for me and later called 999 so that I could consult with the emergency services to discuss the symptoms I was feeling. After explaining my situation about how I was suffering, they said I should admit myself to Raigmore Hospital to undertake basic checks just to be sure. This kind lady called me a taxi and I immediately went to the hospital. I was seen by a triage nurse and my results were fine and was able to leave 3 hrs later. I don't shop at Rohan, but after my experience there, I can definitely say they have such courteous and polite staff and Rohan should be grateful they have wonderful people in their employment. May Rohan be successful and the staff there be richly blessed and rewarded in life. Thank you to everyone for your care.

I’ve been shopping at Rohan for decades. Started when I was working next to their warehouse in Milton Keynes many years ago. To begin with they were amazing. But sadly their current online shopping, pledges, delivery (lack of) and downright laziness has led me to stop shopping there again. Despite paying for next day nothing arrives. No response from them. I have to chase. Why? Where is their customer service ? Don’t rely on them. Their service is terrible.

Guarantee honoured (great) but process could be more user friendly. Just after I’d given a 5* review on some trousers I’d bought a few months before, I discovered a flaw in the fabric. Contacted Rohan and when they were returned I received a brand new pair very promptly. But it did take quite a long time to get to that stage and I think the process could and should be streamlined.

I’ve worn these tops for longer than I care to remember. I think there have been three generations of design with the latest being softer and cosier than the previous. They always look great and are snag proof, hard wearing and dry quickly. They work well both an intermediate layer with or without a tee-shirt or on their own.

I think the time has come for me to write an unprompted review. Retired now, I wear Rohan pretty much all the time when casual wear is the order of the day. I have been buying Rohan gear for about 30 years - I have never had a problem and have been very satisfied with store and online purchases. I think this is a slick company which provides highly functional good-quality clothing, backed up with impeccable customer service. There, I have said my piece……

I have been wearing Rohan waterproofs, fleeces and shorts for about 40 years. But one of the absolutely standout garments (the other is the Jeans) is the Microgrid zip tops, comfortable and useful in a remarkable range of British temperatures, the chest pocket is perfect for your mobile and the brighter colours cheer you in a sea of grey and black. Buy some.

Good quality items, prompt delivery

Rohan is a very efficient company and they provide very good quality clothing.
