The paperwork is easy to understand and the process clear. I found the staff very helpful at all stages, particularly when I had an issue of my own doing.

Zero Data Fraud investigation
Someone used my address without permission to open an account with Sainsbury Bank. I reported this to them after repeatedly receiving letters addressed to the fraudsters. I emailed all the information I could find as well as called to log the issue but no one at the bank has bothered to investigate this. I know this because not only have they not bothered to investigate, they have set up a new account at Natwest for them! I now receive letters for these people from both banks, which I return to sender each time. It's banks like these that help frausters to continue criminal activities. They do not take data fraud seriously and all they want is your money locked in their system!
Frustration in Adding Second Dog
A complete nightmare trying to add second dog to an existing policy. Trying to complete additional details about existing condition & being rejected bacause of 'special characters' which didn't exist. Going on a loop to nowhere trying to find a way to contact them. Google search led to phone nymber and on second try spoke to Loyd who was very helpful. Got there in the end but wasted at least 2 hours in the process.
Went to Canada to visit my son .
Went to Canada to visit my son for Christmas and New year. Everything was fine with the travel money card at first. I had to put my pin number in every 3rd or 4th transaction which was fine. I then tried ordering something from Amazon and my payment got declined. I had to use my UK bank to pay for it. I tried ordering again on Amazon using my money card ( already on the app for CAD so no conversion fees)and it got declined AGAIN. I then had an email from Sainsbury's travel money card, saying they had blocked my card as there had been suspicious activity on it. They also stated that they wouldn't unblock it until I had actually spoken to them!! I have a pay as you go phone so used up my credit while being put on hold. The stupid thing was/ is, you have to call from the country you got the card from????? I had over $750 left on the card, plenty for the remaining time in Canada. I emailed them and gave them my mobile number for them to ring ME, but no, nothing!! I had to borrow money from my son in the end, which was not the way I wanted my holiday to finish. I'm not happy about this. I wish I had read the reviews about it before, because if I had, I certainly wouldn't have used Sainsbury's.
No option for physical welcome pack in the post
A reasonable experience registering for pet insurance with Sainsbury's Bank, until it comes to the welcome pack. Despite the confirmation email saying there was an option to receive the welcome pack in physical form in the post, I was given no such option during the registration process, so I can only assume I will receive this digitally. Excerpt from email copied below for context. Sainsbury's Bank: give people the option to choose paper and post, not digital.
-------------------------------------------------------
We'll be in touch shortly with your Welcome Pack which will include things like your Certificate of Insurance.
If you have chosen to receive your documents online
You will receive an email to let you know when your Welcome Pack is ready. This usually takes a couple of hours but can take up to 3 days. Just in case check your spam folder. If you haven't been sent anything after 3 days, get in touch and let us know.
If you have selected post as your preference
You will receive your Welcome Pack through the post within 3-5 working days. If you would like to register with My Pet Portal, please wait a couple of hours after purchase before registering with your details.
Super slow response
It took months for them to reply to my claim (sent my claim early August 2025, the definitive answer came on the 1st of December). By the time they first replied, I couldn't anymore ask the transport company to provide me with a letter the insurance asked me as they had closed the case.
Far too complicated
GREAT SERVICE.
I purchased home insurance last year
I purchased home insurance last year, including "enhanced" home emergency cover (up to £1,000) specifically to ensure my boiler was protected. However, my experience with Sainsbury’s has been unacceptable.
When my boiler stopped producing hot water on Monday, it took until Thursday evening for an engineer to arrive. The first contractor was in a rush and claimed the issue was "scale or sludge." The following day, the company denied the claim based on policy wording. I requested a second opinion, but the next engineer also cited scale.
It appears Sainsbury’s uses "scale" as a loophole to avoid repairs, despite the fact that boilers naturally accumulate scale—it is essentially a large kettle. I paid extra for enhanced protection, yet they are using these excuses to avoid fixing major issues.
I previously held similar cover with Tesco, and they were far more supportive during emergencies. I would advise others not to trust this company; if they use loopholes to avoid home emergency claims, they will likely do the same for other parts of your policy. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Absolutely disgraceful bank that we have car insurance through. If you call their car claims number and press 1 for car claims it doesn’t put you through to anyone it just places you back to the start of the options and asks you again “for car claims press 1” what an absolute joke.
This has been happening all day since 8 am and it states their car insurance claims line is 24/7. It’s now 7:30pm at night and still option to speak to someone does not work.
Good luck if you have a car accident and need help. This is absolutely criminal behaviour.
Rip off
Last years quote.......Too expensive, lack of knowledge about medicines and their uses andcharging for conditions that don't exist. L
Good for medical cover
The insurance price was half that of other companies, but it only covered half of the large tour cost. What it did cover was £10 million of medical cover (in Costa Rica) which was the prime reason for taking out the cover.
