Customer service is a scam

This is one of the worst computer parts companies I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. I ordered a motherboard from them to go with a set of new parts for an upgrade. I made the "mistake" of buying these parts and not immediately installing them, because I had other work in progress with the computer. Fast forward a few months, I suffer a massive hardware failure and need to go ahead with the upgrade, as well as replace several other parts. As it turned out, the motherboard they had sent me were faulty.
What follows is some of the worst customer support I have ever received. They agreed to refund me for the motherboard. I sent the motherboard in for assessment, and as I needed a working computer, ordered a new motherboard. They found the board I sent in faulty, and then refused to provide a refund.
They insisted that because I had not immediately found the fault, they were not required to provide me with a refund. Shortly afterwards, I found out they had dropped the sale price of the faulty part by several hundred dollars.
I'm gliding over the fine details, but as a result of their shenanigans, I've lost a not insignificant amount of money.

I will be avoiding Scorptec and Gigabyte equally

Be warned, my experience was poor in the shop, and then even worse when it came to warranty. I will not be returning after two terrible experiences. I bought a Gigabyte gaming monitor on getting it home it had a stuck pixel which is green, and stands out when the monitor is displaying a black or dark background. Scorptec refused to collect the monitor even though ACCC stated as it was large screen it should be collected by them. ACCC were toothless and never followed it up, nor did Scorptec. Gigabyte were just as unhelpful.

DO NOT USE SCORPTEC CUSTOMER SERVICE IS PATHETIC

Customer service is pathetic. 3 weeks after being told what was wrong with the computer and them trying to “Sell” items that were not required such as thermal paste when they were not replacing any parts in the computer, I rang to find out where things were at, only to have a follow up phone call for them to tell us the EXACT SAME THINGS THEY TOLD US 3 WEEKS AGO!!!!! I rang again today to be told they need to check if there is a tracking number. But the warranty place is at the back of the Clayton store.
They are dodgy, unreliable, don’t accept responsibility and keep palming it off to someone else who can’t help. This is not the first time this has happened!!!!! Save yourself in the long run, spend a little bit more and buy elsewhere that actually gives decent and proper customer service.

Absolutely useless

Absolutely useless, bought a gigabits laptop from them arrived faulty complained for 3 days being told there was nothing wrong with it dispute video evidence and plenty of sites responding with the same problem yet after 3 days of them telling me there is nothing wrong all of a sudden they discovered the problem, then got credit spent another 750 on top of the credit for a msi only to have it die on my 2 days later and have to repeat the process not to mention YOU DO NOT GET REFUNDED ON POSTAGE so ended up spending an extra 170 on postage alone with no computer to show for it. Customer service is even worse will constantly lie to you.

Good prices

Good prices, helpful salespeople. goods shipped quickly although Auspost decided to deliver the 3 boxes via 3 trucks over 3 days. So inefficient.
Definitely not Scorptecs issue.

Sent me a used goods.

Sent me a used part when I ordered a new part. Have multiple documents indicating that I ordered the new one, refuse to acknowledge that I ordered the new model not the ex-demo one.

Customer Service is abysmal, I only contacted them to highlight their error, didn't receive an apology or a thankyou and was essentially called an idiot, as the only possible way a mistake could happen is if I made it not them.

Will not be using this service again and strongly recommend nobody else use them either.

Good for parts - until something goes wrong.

Purchased a UPS unit from scorptec - it's actively tripping the safety switch when plugged in and they tried to push me to the manufacturer to replace over returning to store. When I pointed out under consumer law my contract is with them, not the manufacturer, they advised they wouldn't exchange or refund until it had gone through 2-4 weeks repair and analysis.

On something that is actively electrically hazardous.

Unbelievable.

EDIT: Just a reminder in the light of the spectacular answer below; as per the ACCC:

Businesses **must not** tell consumers to go to the manufacturer for a remedy.

Our team will often suggest that contacting the manufacturer will result in a faster and more specialised support. The reason being the manufacturer has intimate knowledge of their product range as such this can potentially speed up the process. Which may help to resolve your issue faster.

Thus, our advice in such instances is always with our customers best interest in mind.

Of course, you can definitely bring the unit back to us, we are always here to support our customers as best we can.

However, we may not have all the specialized tools required on hand in order to provide a full assessment of the item.

As such in many cases we have to send the item back to the vendor/manufacturer for an assessment, this assessment is conducted by technicians trained specifically in the operation of these devices.

As you pointed out, there may be concerns with the ongoing use of the product in question, so it is best to have people that are specifically trained to diagnose such products.

Once the item has been professionally assessed to verify the issue, then we will be able to offer an appropriate remedy.

Phones go unanswered , not good business

Have been trying to get through to sales several times but the call ends with nobody picking up the phone. Not good customer service I must say. Makes me worry if I order will I ever get my product, best I go elsewhere.

professional and enjoyable shopping expierence

I bought a lot of parts here for a new pc build and while some parts are a little dearer i found a lot of great specials,they were super professional and delivery was very fast.very enjoyable shopping expierence and i will buy from them again.

If I could give them 0 stars I would

If I could give them 0 stars I would. Staff becomes highly argumentative the moment you bring in a faulty product. They will try to get you to take the product to the original manufacturer so they don't have to deal with it. Unprofessional bunch of clowns sitting in the store on their 40k salary and will try to act like theyre doing God's work.

Buyer beware!!

Absolutely disgusted by my experience with Scorptec! I purchased a new laptop for my son after saving my pennies for many months. It arrived with a damaged monitor.

I sent video and photos and over the phone was assured that it would be repaired in "2-3 weeks". I sent it back believing what they told me.

It then took 2 weeks for them to even contact me, at which point I was told that Gigabyte wouldn't cover it under warranty and I would somehow need to find $477 to fix it.

I promptly refused and requested that they either honour the repair ftee of charge, or refund the $1200 I paid so I could buy my son a laptop elsewhere.

They refused both options, blaming the supplier and never sending updates, despite promises that they would on given dates. The only communication I have had from them was when I called them or emailed.

As of now they're ignoring my emails and it has been a week since their last reply.

My high school son, who is struggling to do assignments/study has now been without a computer for 5 weeks with no update from Scorptec for almost a week now despite me emailing multiple times to request it. He is getting punished at school for having no computer and late assignments and I've explained this to Scorptec but they couldn't care less.

I am going to be submitting a complaint to Office of Fair Trading as soon as I can.

I am beyond disappointed. I very carefully researched this purchase; as a single mum this was a very big purchase for me to manage. I chose Scorptec because of their claims to offer the best backup service available in Australia. I was so excited to be able to do this for my son as it was the first time I've been able to save such a significant amount of money to buy any of my kids a new laptop.

I am now regretting it big time and I'm starting to think that I've lost the $1200 I worked so hard to save for.

Scorptec Laptop Issues

I recently had the unfortunate experience of dealing with Scorptec for a laptop repair, and I must say that I am thoroughly disappointed with their service. The ordeal began when my laptop was initially sent in for repair after a year of persistent issues culminated in the device becoming unbootable. It took Scorptec an entire week to diagnose and recognize the issue. Following the diagnosis, I endured a grueling 5-week repair process. During this time, their communication was nothing short of abysmal, leaving me in the dark about the status of my device. To make matters worse, the repair report they provided at the end was shockingly inadequate, barely half a page long. This lack of thorough documentation was a significant red flag that hinted at a lack of professionalism within the company.

What's particularly frustrating about Scorptec's service is their reactive rather than proactive approach to customer interactions. To compound my disappointment, barely two months after the initial repair, the same issues resurfaced, prompting me to return my laptop to them. When I expressed my dissatisfaction with the repair and demanded a swift resolution, stating that I would file a complaint with Consumer Affairs Victoria if necessary, I expected a more proactive response. However, after three weeks, they have yet to diagnose the device. It's as if they are using delaying tactics when customers assert their rights, effectively punishing you by dragging their feet. This lack of responsiveness and a failure to address customer concerns promptly is not what you'd expect from a reputable company.

It's evident that Scorptec's lack of reliability in both service and technical expertise makes them an unreliable choice for any repair needs. They have no technical staff on hand, opting to outsource repairs to an unknown third party, which leaves customers in the dark about what's happening with their devices. In light of this situation, I strongly advise potential buyers to steer clear of Scorptec if you value your time and sanity. There are better, more dependable options available for tech support and repairs that won't leave you feeling frustrated and neglected.

In some cases relating to specialised repair work, you are correct. We do not actually conduct such repairs ourselves in house and generally need the manufacturer to be involved (either directly or via one of their authorised repair centres) as they have dedicated technicians and specialised equipment focused on their specific product range, unfortunately this process can also take a period of time.

We are however directly involved in the communication between you, our customer, and the manufacturers, and we have obviously let you down. In this regard use such examples will be used to ensure we make continued improvements such that all our customers can benefit and be updated appropriately to ensure a fair and timely outcome for all.

Again we apologise for any inconvenience and displeasure this matter has caused, we do not wish any of our customers to be inconvenienced for any period of time.

I was worried but they delivered

Despite having low reviews here, i personally have a great experience with Scorptec. Fast processing of order and was delivered in a few days without any issues even though i live in NT. Will choose Scorptec over pccg if im buying pc parts again.

Bought majority of my PC builds from here, don't have anything negative to say, I recieved a DOA Mobo though, and they had it tested and replaced within 15 minutes of me giving it to them.

Poor company - DO NOT RECOMMEND

What to say? This company is poor.

Firstly, I am not hardware savvy.

I asked questions from the company, scorptec, for them to provide little to no information, recommendations or advise.

Upon purchasing my machine of $6000, I received it 4 weeks after the purchase date.

Upon purchasing it, the machine was not in working order, with the GPU not reading a monitor.

After contacting them multiple times wanting assistance I finally got in touch with them after not returning my phone call 3 times.

The tech that answered did not know the machine and did not know how to help and advised to send it back.

Upon sending back the machine, they realised the MOBO, RAM and GPU weren't functioning properly..

HOW? DOES? THIS? HAPPEN?

Obviously no stress testing of a machine happened and no tests were provided.

I am currently awaiting for the machine to be sent again, which has been sitting with them for 3 weeks to diagnose now.

During this time, I was needing a new monitor, so I again asked the company for advise and they AGAIN could not provide me with ANY information of WHAT is good for the machine.

Upon sending an email to 10 other companies about what monitor will be good for the specs I have, they replied back with a detailed response and a list of monitors to choose from.

I should had purchased from these companies, however I sent a email complaint to Scorptec, wishing for a discount on the monitor or the delivery due to what has happened.

The response with this was not nice, they advised that they could not do that at all.

Being stupid, I purchased the monitor, then the next day the monitor went from $900 to $820.

They did not care, they did not provide a discount after spending $6900 with their company and providing fault equipment without TESTING their products.

I just find this un-believable..

I do not recommended this company at all, please stay way way way away from them!

Constant lies about ETA

Constant lies about ETA for the item I have purchased
MSI Creator M16 B13VE-623AU.
They started with 28th of August, then went to 16th, the 18th, thenn 22nd. MSI state first week in September.
