Easygoing once you are a reseller
We operate 100+ servers with s4y. Becoming a reseller frees you from the admittely slightly cumbersome server ordering/canellation process and gives you access to a more personal contact, which also helps when "roof is on fire" situations. Very good value for price ratio. Support process is the only area that may be worth improving for customes with a larger server base. I.e. being more direct.

Close to a scam: Horrible performance, downtimes
It's my fault really. Did I really need to save that 10 EUR on a vserver I use daily? Did I really not think twice when I read that all contracts have a mandatory 1-year period?
Performance is horrible, the host system is oversubscribed as soon as the sun rises. Everything was fine during the first few months of course. As soon as the opposition period went by and I couldn't escape from the 1-year contract any more, SSH connections dropped and the host system didn't even manage to register my key presses in the shell any more.
It's really that bad.
And then, there was this mysterious downtime. Server not reachable at all. According to local logs, last successful ping was three week days ago. No incident notification by mail, nothing.
When I reached the customer service, they told me that there was a DDOS attack.
Oh my! The poor boys have been innocent victims of nazi communist hackers.
A blatant lie of course, Looks like they didn't pay their electricity bill, didn't tell their customers about the incident and hoped for the best. That's not "bad service", that's fraud.
Also, you can't cancel your "subscription" by mail or a web form, of course. No no, there is a hotline for that. Better bring some time. Read a book or two.

Satisfied customer for several years now
I've been a customer of server4you since... 2011? now and I've never had any problems. The very few times I needed customer support they were there for me and worked around the clock to solve the issue (defective HDD).
There's no one out there who can beat their price/quality ratio, at least not when it comes to European hosting.
