Ordered 15 'available' books. Paid. Get e-mail that none are actually available.
Ordered and paid for 15 paperbacks from their website, that were listed as available. Received an invoice that declared their shipping date was soon (Voraussichtliche Zustellung: Do., 28.07. - Sa., 30.07.)
The next morning I receive a new e-mail that declares that every single one is in fact unavailable and will be reserved (Der Artikel ist leider kurzfristig nicht vorrätig, Ihre Bestellung wurde vorgemerkt. Der Artikel wird schnellstmöglich geliefert.)
Those books are still listed on their website as available, which is frankly ridiculous. Stock management mistakes for a single book happen even in well automated systems, but when it happens for FIFTEEN it's systematic and deliberate. They have taken the money and do not care about their ability to deliver.
Strongly recommend avoiding this company.

Item broken, no solution
Beside waiting 10 days to ship the item, which wouldn't be a problem if one of the plates hasn't arrived broken. They can't partially refund for the broken plate, or accept the broken plate and send a new one. Instead i need to send all the plates back and receive a new set, which is not logical or eco friendly for the mater. Considering i already unpacked it(a lot of carboard and plastic in between each plate) , and its a very heavy package, i won't be bothered sending it all back, and impossible for me to repack it as it was. I already ordered plates from amazon, lidl etc... And they all resend only the broken items. Considering Thalia is collaborating with Butlers and other dishware brands they need to have a better solution in this tipe of cases
Answer to thalia comment: i ordered from you(wasn't written anywhere it will be dispatched from butlers directly) , i paid you, i asked you to send the item after it wasn't sended 10 days after placing the order. And now you are saying its butlers responsibility. As well you say it can be handled differently, please let me know how?

Terrible Online Ordering
I ordered a book online. The wrong book came. I had to go to the store and got a refund but it seemed like this was a regular occurrence for the staff and no one seemed surprised. Annoying that a company can still be so incompetent with online orders.

A HIGHLY CONTENTED CUSTOMER
PERFECT AND FRIENDLY SERVICE , SPEEDY DELIVERY , BEST BOOKSTORE KNOWN TO ME , THANK YOU !
Poorly organised and incompetent
I ordered a book for my girlfriend from Thalia in November, and it was supposed to be a gift for the holiday season. I ordered through "Vorkasse" (you order, get the payment details by mail, pay, and then they send the book). A few weeks later a package arrives from them, but they sent the wrong book.
I contacted them, they told me to send back the book and they would cover the costs of shipping, which they did. I had thought they would then send the right book. Weeks later I still had not gotten anything, and when I contacted them about it, it turned out I had to order it again, and that I would be reimbursed for the first order. However, they said they would place the order for me, and I would get the payment details by mail.
Weeks later I had still not received the payment details, when I asked them about it, they told me they should arrive soon. A few days later I still had received no email, hence I just ordered it myself again.
Then, two days later I get two different emails with payment details. As I obviously dont want to have the book twice, I only paid one of the invoices, expecting to also only receive the book once.
A week later however, I receive the book twice... And I also received the first of three warnings that I have an unpaid order with them. Given that I do not own a car I could not easily bring them the book back (30km to the nearest Thalia dealership), and as a student who also works I do not want to lose time once again sending back a book they should not have sent me. Hence I ended up having to pay for the book twice, and receiving them in February, two months too late for the holidays.
Thalia have shown to be extremely incompetent and poorly organized, with a very little motivation to help their clients. Stay away!
Dont preorder anything from thalia
Dont preorder anything from thalia , i canceled my preorder and didn’t get a refund , im sending them emails everyday ,but in vain.

So angry
Unnecessarily had to pay twice the amount of my purchase just because I missed an email reminder for the payment, they automatically forwarded it to an "Inkasso" company. I would've paid it on time but I just missed the email which went to my spam folder! Maybe make a simple phone call prior to doubling the costs??? Or at the very least send one more email? So angry.
I went to Thalia to avoid giving money to Amazon and Jeff Bezos but I guess this was the wrong decision, say what you will about Amazon but their customer service is 100 times better than this and something like this would never happen there, i will go back to them and never shop with Thalia.de again in my life
Edit: regarding their reply below - I never received any reminder by post and only one reminder by email, which as said was in my spam folder. And "if you have further question concerning your invoice please refer to the collection agency" is the worst kind of shaking of responsibility, what kind of questions do you think the collection agency will answer? Whatever I ask they will say I have to pay this doubled amount, and if I don't pay it, then it will increase even more. Of course Thalia.de doesn't care as its not their problem anymore.

A big variety in books (graphic novels )
Very bad experience. Probably SCAM.
Very bad experience. Maybe a SCAM shop. They publish offers and take the money. After a while they report error price and do not ship the item but keep the money for days. If you try to contact them you will receive a different reason or an automatic response. Fortunately, I always use PayPal so my money should be safe. DO NOT BUY HERE.

Scam shop
Avoid. This company is a SCAM. My girlfriend made an order from thalia and they sent the wrong books, 5 of the same kind of books. We spoke with them to return the books back, made a request on email, they said it's ok, we have to send the books back and they send the right books. We sent the books back and after that they asked us to pay the books because they sent the right books first. This is a scam.

I will never order from Thalia again.
On two occasions I ordered products which according to the website were in stock. Twice I was not notified that the products ordered were actually not in stock and only found out because I was waiting for days for a notice that they are ready for pick-up at the local store and eventually got in touch with customer service. Always a shame when your kid does not have the desired advent calendar on the 1st December, even though we placed the order 2 weeks in advance. The supplier failed massively by claiming rot have products in stock and then not notifying the customer or cancelling the order.

I will never order again from Thalia.
So here the facts explaining why they deserve 1 star:
- I order a book that I needed for my education on March 2021. On the description of the book they noted “the item will be shipped in 4/5 days”.
- I immediately pay with PayPal. PayPal block the money on my bank account from that moment.
- After weeks the book never came, I ask someone in my class to borrow it. The money are still locked on my account.
- End of July: I complete my academic year, I completely forget about the book.
- 23/09/2021: I receive the book with no further explanation. I have to say that I have an email that I use for online orders and I barely open it and that I don’t speak German.
- I receive a receipt on that email few days after (in German).
- Middle of October: I receive a snail mail saying I have to pay the book. I immediately send them an email saying that I was not aware of the fact because I still have the PayPal receipt with the confirmation of the payment. I kindly ask them to wait till the end of the month to give me time to collect the money as after my studying I’m actually e looking for a job and I have no income.
- They agree.
- 10/11/2021 I receive a letter from Paigo saying I owe them 20€ more the price of the initial book because Thalia passed to them my debt.
- So now I have to pay almost double the value of the book, for a book that I already paid in March and I don’t need anymore after that I waited for it for 6 months.
- I immediately ask an acquaintance to borrow me money and I pay same day.
- 5 days later I receive a snail mail from Paigo saying that I have to pay before the 27/11/21 to avoid the risk to pay more.
- I sent to Paigo 3 email with the confirmation of my transfer and I had no answer. I called them 5-6 times and I had no answer.
- I ask kindly to Thalia to contact Paigo and they answer me: “ After the invoice has been sent and three reminders have been sent, the debt is handed over to a collection agency.
The communication of the company is not transmitted to us and for data protection reasons the employees of the contracted company are not allowed to talk to us about customers. For example, although we know that you have transferred an amount of 58,71 euros, we cannot check whether the IBAN of the recipient is correct or whether a specific purpose should be stated and the like.
We regret that you have not been able to reach anyone so far, but recommend that you continue to contact the staff there.
We regret not to be able to provide you with more pleasant information and are at your disposal for further questions at any time.”
Even if I attached both the email I received from Paigo and the receipt of my transfer.
To resume: this is the most unpleasant experience I ever had from an online shopping.
They block the money immediately even if they don’t have the item in stock. They send it 6 months after asking for a new payment. I agree to pay and ask them the time to collect the money. They send my “debt” to a collect money agency that doesn’t answer to any of my email or calls.
I will never order again from Thalia.

Great books in Thalia
Great book selection, always helpful and friendly.Online shopping great too
Good and quick service
I have recently ordered something from Thalia online and the order arrived very quickly and in perfect condition. Very easy and efficient ordering process.
Thank you
It is always quick and smooth to shop from thalia webpage. Last time I had an issue at the webpage and customer service reacted super fast and kindly. The delivery was then still on time. I hope you open a shop in Mainz.
I wish I could give it 0 stars
I wish I could give it 0 stars. I highly advise you not to order any books from Thalia unless of course you´d like your book to be shipped 2.5months after you´ve ordered it. In case your book is still in stock, it won´t take longer than 1.5 months for it to be shipped.
This is what you call great service! Oh, I nearly forgot. If you used a gift card on your purchase and you decided to cancel your order after realizing that your purchased item will arrive once your toddler is old enough to drive, don´t expect to get a gift card refund.
Hope my sarcastic review will save you a couple of months and a lot of nerves...

Unreliable.
If you need an urgent and reliable shipment, do not buy from Thalia. I ordered two books in January and have received neither and they have now even charged me for one that hasn't even arrived. Almost 2 months and I still have this ongoing order issue. The replies from their customer service are automated and not very helpful unfortunately. I have requested (for the second time), that Paypal support me in getting my money back.
