Received my Teacake Easter Egg. Wow this was unbelievable. I broke into it and heard the snap. It was gooey and messy just how so like it. You can taste everything that is in this chocolate egg, you can tell the quality of ingredients that have been used to create this extremely amazing egg. Well worth the wait.

Upon arrival, the packaging was next level, so well put together, great graphics and colours on the presentation box.
Once I opened it, I felt slightly underwhelmed, as the pictures I'd seen, seemed to show the bars being larger...or maybe that was just my expectations; but the rest exceeded mine.
As I unwrapped it, it looked like it was going to be a messy eat, as there didn't seem to be any order to break off a small piece; so I ripped at it and it seemed to divide itself perfectly, in caramel perfection.
The taste was unbelievable, I've never had a chocolate bar quite like it (trying not to swear here) but, oh my word, I went into another world for a bit.
They are pricey, so it's an occasional treat for me, but I'll definitely be a returning customer.

The Black Forest bar is to die for I now order 4 at a time 🤦🏻♀️ me and my son love the chocolate from here

The chocolate is really delicious but the overall shopping experience makes me not want to buy again. Having to wait for a specific slot to order and then waiting over two weeks just ruins the experience. If the product sells out every time why not have it in stock before putting it for sale?
I would order regularly if it wasn’t for the wait as the quality is really good.

The whole experience is a delight on the senses. I have been buying their chocolate for years now. I get the same excitement today as the first bar I ever bought when their business exploded. Yes you are paying more than other brands, but this isn’t a regular bar of boring store bought chocolate. It’s a whole handmade experience and each carefully thought out bar is like a special treat or reward for yourself and is 100% worth the cost. With all their unique flavours and the genius idea of collaboration bars. You simply have to try them.

After waiting almost a year to be able to order a chocolate bar, I was shocked by the thin bar of chocolate that arrived and for the price as well. I appreciate they are hand made and the overheads are high but this chocolate was so so sweet, it was not enjoyable and even the kids did not like it and they are human dustbins. Just not for me. But amazing company.

I’m very particular about my chocolate - I tend to buy high quality Belgian from Neuhaus but over the last year I’ve tried a range products from small online bespoke chocolate makers .
I ordered the baklava inspired and the pistachio cannoli bars from The Chocolate Smiths three weeks ago . Firstly I love the quirky packaging , it feels unique and fun. I like that the wrappers are good quality as it reflects attention to detail and makes the product feel more luxurious .
The pistachio cannoli was a mix of dark chocolate and milk chocolate . It was filled with a delicious pistachio paste and crispy feuilletine and studded with crunchy pistachio pieces . As other reviewers have said , the bar was very sweet , but that sweetness was offset by the layer of dark chocolate underneath . It tasted delicious , had a fabulous mouth feel and clearly used high quality ingredients .
The baklava inspired bar was a mix of caramelised white chocolate and milk chocolate and was filled with a delicious honey and cinnamon caramel and tiny pieces of sugary caramelised nuts. It was utterly divine ! Both bars weighed around 140g and were chunkier than I’d expected which was a bonus . The quality of the chocolate and the filling was 5* - exceptional .
So why only 4 stars ? Two things really - I saw the baklava inspired having seen one of The Chocolate Smiths promo videos online . However , it was only after I’d placed my order that I realised I hadn’t actually ordered the bar I wanted - I hadn’t realised there were two different baklava bars and I don’t think the website clearly advertised that it was the collab one that was stuffed with actual baklava not the 140g one . I really do think there should be a clear distinction made between the two as I was initially disappointed that I wasn’t going to get the bar I specifically wanted. And while yes, the baklava inspired one turned out to be delicious, it wasn’t what I thought I’d ordered .
Secondly - I admit I’m impatient . I ordered the chocolate on 17th March and it arrived on April 1st. The website did say it was very busy due to Easter orders and it did clearly specify that chocolate would take 10-12 (working) days to be dispatched . I did email to ask about the progress of my order and received a quick reply which was good . However , I do think having to pay almost £5 for 48hr tracked delivery was somewhat excessive considering the delay in getting the chocolate. Other companies I order from discount postage or even provide free postage for orders over a certain amount . I do think this should have been offered as a goodwill gesture considering how much time it took from ordering to actually getting the chocolate .
And finally , I can not fault the quality of the chocolate I received, it’s utterly delicious and I appreciated that it was handcrafted and beautifully presented . However I’d tried several times to buy bars online and was frustrated by the lack of availability . If demand consistently outweighs availability then this is an issue which needs addressing . I’m not sure the frustration of trying to buy unavailable products is actually worth the hassle . Would I want to buy more bars ? Absolutely! Am I going to fanny around trying my luck visiting a store that doesn’t have the stock available to buy? No not really . I really did find the ordering process incredibly frustrating and it’s for that reason I probably won’t be a repeat customer. It’s worth mentioning that I also buy from another online chocolate store which also offers handmade products . I have never waited more than a week for chocolate to arrive , the last time I ordered I received the whole of my order 3 days after buying online and postage ( which was also 48 hr tracked) was free due to the amount of money I’d spent . I’ve been a repeat customer for the past 6 months and often order twice a month, products are readily available and always exceptional .
To conclude ; The Chocolate Smiths products are absolutely delicious and, in my opinion, worth spending a little extra to get such high quality . I’m not sure the ‘sold out’ online is a sales gimmick or an attempt to suggest exclusivity but as a customer I’m not prepared to chase products that aren’t available - it’s not worth the frustration .
