Normally quite happy to visit Toby Carvery Redhill but tonight was very dissapointing to say the least. The amount of meat was hardly enough to make a sandwich. They had run out of vegetarian bak... See more

Visited Toby Carvery Norton Canes early…
Visited Toby Carvery Norton Canes early February 2026. We’ve been there before but decided to sign up to the app and received a discount voucher. Food was ok no issues. When time to pay I had a gift voucher to use as well as the app discount voucher. The server took my card I thought to check the balance but he paid the bill with it without applying the discount. I queried this and was told they couldn’t do anything! I was told to email in which I did. Basically told tough luck come back and use it next time. There won’t be a next time. If the customer service is this poor and they can afford to lose business then so be it. I didn’t even get a reply to my last email. Rude and unappreciative of customers. Here’s me thinking pubs and restaurants are struggling and needing footfall. Just he aware if you have discounts to be apples to your bill that they are in fact applied.
After reading various not so good…
After reading various notes so good reviews I felt the need to have my say. Had a great visit to Toby Carvery Hemel Hempstead on Sunday 22nd Feb and just wanted to say how brilliant Preston was. He was really friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. Service like that makes all the difference!
He’s a real credit to the team and we’ll definitely be back. Thanks Preston!

Visited Sunderland Barnes 20.2.2026. Very very poor!
Dry, crusty lukewarm food. Meat quality & choice very poor and very minimal. Service very average. Dining areas need a good refurb. All round a very poor experience.
1/10.

Unfortunately I can’t review the food
Unfortunately I can’t review the food, as I didn’t have any. Issue surrounds the confusing Toby policy regarding pets. Either you accept them or not. The “contact the individual establishment “ only works if you actually get a reply. These premises obviously deal in smoke signals and pony express as 6 attempts to make contact had no response. I accept that some eateries don’t want “animals” present, so we went to clarify. I stood outside with our attack miniature cockapoo while my partner went in to ask if the dog could come in. If the answer was in the negative we would have said thanks, maybe look at your communication systems and been on our way, but no, joy unbounded😀 A “manager” said that’s okay as long as you sit in a snug area by the fire and order at the bar. So in we go, full of the joys of an oncoming spring, up to the bar to order, pooch safely ensconced under the table, to be told, “No bar orders tonight, I’ll speak to a manager”. Another manager comes and asks if this is an assistance dog.? No. Then we are not dog friendly off you go. What about the other manager saying we could? Different managers come from different places with different rules. Also, being told there are Toby carvery’s all over the country with differing rules, do you want me to head off driving to find one that has a sign saying, “We are dog friendly “ a fact you stated your establishment doesn’t have, whoop de doo for you, maybe try answering a phone once every solstice! So beaming with embarrassment we made our outside, prompting another customer to, waiting in line to say, “ridiculous, look at that pup”. Actually it’s not ridiculous, I quite understand if places don’t want pets in their premises, however, set clear rules, answer queries promptly and don’t embarrass or humiliate customers.
Toby carvery Redhill
Toby carvery Redhill, I'll start with the positives, restaurant very pleasantly decorated and ambience good, staff very helpful too. The food however was cold, the beef very gristly, the roast potatoes were very hard and the veg just mush and just about edible. It may be a different story if you go to a Toby as soon as it opens when the food would be hot and fresh! There were 4 of us and although we eat the food we all said the same. We had puddings, one apple crumble and custard which they said was lovely but avoid the lemon sponge which 3 of us had and returned as it's absolutely nothing like lemon sponge, it was extremely dry, no lemon sauce and looked like a Yorkshire pudding, highly recommend you have something else!! Sadly, that was our experience but it may be better for others.
Valentines day meal
Went for a Valentines day meal. After being escorted to our table, we were greeted by our lovely waitress May,
Who made us feel totally welcome, as she took our drinks order and checked if we had any allergies. The restaurant was extremely busy, but she was polite, helpful, and happy. Taking time to make sure we were relaxed, so welcoming.
Harper was our server at the carvery, again very polite, friendly, and very efficient. I complemented him on his presentation and efficiency and commented that he would be excellent in the role of front of house. I could spot his potential. He was slightly taken aback at the comment but thanked me.
I later saw who I thought was a manageress, and mentioned these two members to her and asked her to pass on our good wishes,
The food was as usual, great, at Toby Carvery at Gravesend, Kent. The staff were brilliant and a good time was had by us both.

Booked online but no table reserved
Having booked a table online for 5 at Stafferton Lodge, Maidenhead. We arrived for a Sunday lunch with the family only to be told they had no table reserved in our name, although we had a confirmation text message. We were informed a table would be ready in 10 minutes they asked us to kindly wait in the bar area, we placed an order for drinks only to be given a dirty beer glass.
After 15 minutes waiting, I asked when the table would be available, I was informed that the table was being prepared -cleaned, I informed them my wife is diabetic and was in need for urgent food as her blood sugar levels dropping. After 25 minutes of waiting, our table was still not ready, so we asked if we could eat in the bar area.
Why wasn't a table in the bar area offered when I advised them of my wife being diabetic and in need of food.
Why was our booking not registered with Staffereton Lodge, Maidenhead when we had a confirmation text message.
why were we told a table would be ready within 10 minutes.
why did no one come to us advising a delay in getting the table. Why did they not ask if we mind eating in the bar area due to my wife being diabetic and in urgent need for food? I would like the management at The Toby Carvery at Stafferton Lodge to comment on the above.
poor service
decided to visit stevenage toby cavery today.without pre booking .we waited by the entrance for sometime . only to be met by a moody grumpy member of staff .who warned us to pre book in future .we were then ordered to follow her and told to sit at a table .we were treated like naughty children .needless to say we decided to leave and moved onto to another restaurant .which was lovely .first impressions do matter
Food was cold
Food was cold

Tobys at Exeter .
Tobys at Exeter is very nice place to visit. Has had a great refurb and the staff here are very helpful.
Excellent food and service at Bedford Toby (Goldington Rd)
Bedford Toby - Excellent food (tender lean meat, superb yorkshire pudding and stuffing, lovely selection of vegetables), as always. Very attentive staff. We appreciated being allowed to bring a birthday cake in, and enjoyed it with a scoop of Toby ice cream, which is very creamy and good. A great place to eat healthy food, and a great place for a family get together and birthday celebration. Excellent value too for party of 10!
Very bad customer service …
We visited around 2pm it was not busy there were loads of tables empty yet it still took stsff about 10 minutes to acknolege us and seat us when we were told we could go get out food so we went up to yhe counter no staff to cut the meat and it took about 10/15 minutes before he appeared and it seemed that we were an inconvience to him and the meat portions were only big enough for a toddler and to pork was so dry it was hard to chew the whole meal was only luke warm and did not have much flavour after the meal i asked for the bill and Sarah (staff) was quite rude after waiting about 15 minutes i decided to look for her she made a dig as to say oh your obviously in a rush but i am busy with other customers and there were only about 5 tables in there being used she just said well you best pay here then she had a very bad attitude toward us as customers and didnt appear to be enjoying her job or didnt want to be there

Oliver at Toby Carvery Hilsea was a lovely server, very efficient, polite and considerate. Great customer service Oliver well done!
Food was great, meat cooked to perfection
Had a carvery at the Romford Location…
Had a carvery at the Romford Location last week and it was absolutely abysmal, the mashed potatoes could be used to build a house with!
The veggies were hard and cold ,the Yorkshire pudding was rock hard and I had just been to dentist so didn’t risk trying to eat it!
I was going to complain but overheard another customer not happy with his meal and was shocked to hear the manager say he would remember his face for the next time he came!
So for the cost of £11.79 I wasn’t going to get into a row over a meal but one thing is for certain they won’t see my face there again!!
Good parking, good food
Visited Toby Carvery maes knoll in Bristol, parking is great, and the food is always really good, the staff are friendly and happy to help.
We got to Toby Carvery Darlington and…
We got to Toby Carvery Darlington and had paid and were seated by 10.09 am for breakfast.
We went up to get our food straight away and there was no bacon, no sausages, no eggs, no hash Brown's and were good by the man behind the food counter the food would be another 10 minutes.
At 10.34 the food was brought out and only limited amounts which all went within a minute as other people were waiting too.
We got limited food before they stopped bringing more out at 10.44, it was all over!!!
Why advertise unlimited help yourself breakfast till 11am if you can't deliver this.
I must add that the restaurant was barely half full.
Very poor.
Rubbish food
Had breakfast this morning, bacon very hard and dry, not crispy, beans all juice, only one dish of everything out, despite a party of 30 being booked in for about the same time as we got there. Food cold, worst experience we have had in there
I told the assistant on the counter and she said she would pass it on to the kitchen staff and I said she should pass it on to the management!
The Toby Carvery just outside Maidstone…
