Wasted four hours of my life trying to book a flight. Their website is completely incompatible with different devices and browsers and I was on hold waiting for an agent for two hours. Only persisted... See more

In January 2026
In January 2026, they lost my suitcase for nearly three weeks and didn’t offer a single euro for essentials. When the bag finally came back, it was in awful condition — misshapen, clothes ruined, items damaged. I filed claims for months and got zero resolution. On top of that, their service quality has dropped massively. Even the food, which used to be decent, is now disappointing and low quality. After this experience, I’m avoiding Turkish Airlines completely.
Promised Rebooking Until 2026, Forced to Go to ADR Instead
After more than 10 years of regularly flying with Turkish Airlines, I have unfortunately reached the point where I actively avoid booking with them and would advise others to think carefully before doing so.
Over the years, I have noticed a significant decline in customer service, while ticket prices have increased substantially. The onboard experience is still generally acceptable, but if you ever encounter a booking, rebooking, or refund issue, be prepared for a very frustrating experience.
My flight to Tabriz was cancelled, and during a recorded call with a Turkish Airlines customer service representative, I was assured that I would be able to rebook my ticket until June 2026. The representative even stated that if the information provided turned out to be incorrect, Turkish Airlines would be responsible for the mistake.
Relying on that assurance, I did not request a refund and instead attempted to arrange a rebooking. However, for the past several months I have been trying to get Turkish Airlines to honour what I was promised. Despite numerous calls and communications, I have been passed from one department to another without any meaningful progress. Every interaction feels like starting from the beginning again.
After months of unsuccessful attempts to resolve the matter directly, I have had no choice but to escalate the case to ADR.
I hope ADR will help bring this matter to a fair conclusion, but this experience has seriously damaged my trust in Turkish Airlines. Unless there is a significant improvement in how customer issues are handled, this will likely be my last flight with them.
Horrendous experience
Horrendous experience, cancellation fees keep increasing over time, even though there is a set fee amount in our ticket details document. My wife has tried 5-6 times to resolve this with customer support and they just say they will escalate it with a feedback form and promise someone will be in touch to resolve this, but we have not been contacted and no one can seem to assist. HOPELESS!!!
Baggage problems
I am writing to express my dissatisfaction regarding my delayed baggage. My baggage has not been delivered for 5 days since my arrival. This delay has caused significant inconvenience. What if someone is traveling just for a small period. Does that mean that they have to go back without their luggage. All the important things are in the baggage so i'm having a hard time now bc of this.
Kept us standing on tarmac for 20 min
Right now as I write this, Turkish airlines crew have kept us standing on the tarmac, by the steps to the plane, at Birmingham airport, for 20 minutes!! No communication as to when the doors will open. And the flight is already 30 minutes late! Terrible terrible customer service!!
Best Airline
I recently flew with Turkish Airlines from Gatwick to Istanbul, and the entire experience was nothing short of exceptional. From check-in to landing, they truly delivered a world-class journey. ✈ The Flight & Cabin Comfort The aircraft was modern, spotlessly clean, and well-maintained. Even in [Economy / Business] class, the seating was incredibly comfortable with generous legroom and adjustable headrests that made the long-haul flight highly relaxing. The blankets, pillows, and amenity kits provided were excellent touches.🍽️ World-Class In-Flight DiningThe food on Turkish Airlines easily beats any other airline I have flown with. The meals were fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Having high-quality catering and a fantastic selection of beverages at 35,000 feet made a massive difference.🎭 Entertainment & ConnectivityThe in-flight entertainment system had a massive, responsive touchscreen with an incredible library of recent blockbuster movies, TV shows, games, and music playlists. Time flew by quickly because there was so much to watch.🌟 Exceptional Service & Turkish HospitalityWhat truly sets this airline apart is its staff. The cabin crew was remarkably professional, attentive, and genuinely warm. They went out of their way to ensure every passenger was comfortable and always served us with a smile. The transit experience at Istanbul Airport was also seamless and highly efficient.Summary:Turkish Airlines has completely won me over. Their consistency in comfort, elite dining, and authentic hospitality makes them my absolute first choice for future international travel. 10/10 highly recommended!
I am very disappointed with Turkish Airlines …
I am very disappointed with Turkish Airlines’ customer service and complaint handling.
During my trip, I experienced multiple issues across two flights. On flight TK0067 (DPS–IST), the armrest at my seat was broken and unstable, and the seat pocket/net was damaged and hanging loose throughout a flight of approximately 13 hours. On flight TK1587 (IST–FRA), the entertainment screen was completely unusable and the tray table was damaged and unstable.
These issues were reported to the cabin crew during the flights. We were told that nothing could be done and that we should submit feedback afterwards.
I provided Turkish Airlines with photos, flight details and a detailed description of the problems. However, throughout the complaint process I received inconsistent responses. First I was told that the complaint could not be evaluated because the issue had allegedly not been reported during the flight. After clarifying that it had been reported, I was informed that investigations found no problems and no records of any malfunction.
What disappointed me most was not only the condition of the equipment, but the way the complaint was handled. Despite providing evidence and repeatedly explaining the situation, my concerns were ultimately dismissed without any meaningful resolution or compensation.
Based on this experience, I expected much better customer service from a major international airline.
Turkish airlines are best airlines
Turkish airlines are best airlines , comfortable best food choices and best customer service , ignore those fake 1 star reviews other companies just jaleous on Turkish airlines , I fly with them every time , that’s only airlines that offer 2 free luggage’s for free and carry on and backpack nobody can compare to Turkish airlines , that’s why others hate Turkish airlines , if you want beautiful flight comfortable nice food always choose Türkiye airlines
0 STARS - WORST EXPERIENCE
0 STARS. Unfortunately, it doesn't go lower than 1 star. The worst experience in my life, which has traumatized me for future flights.
I flew from Europe to South Africa.
For my first flight the plane landed in a different airport (weather) and we were only notified at the boarding gate. We had to take a bus to the other airport which meant that I was going to miss my connecting flights. So I wanted to cancel and rebook the trip but I was then told if I didn't take that flight I would lose my entire booking, which I later learned was a LIE. So that meant that I would land in Turkey after my connecting flight and I would have to wait at the airport for over 12hrs for the next flight. Due to the fault of the airport, airline and moving passengers from 1 airport to another, security checks took longer for all flights. And guess what.... the plane then left, leaving 15 passengers behind. Of course everyone was furious and insisted they rebook us. That meant flying the next morning, waiting 8 hrs in Turkey with a new connecting flight to Doha making my trip even longer. They also rebooked my connection with a different airline, and lost my luggage because it wasn't transferred to the other airline. I got my bags 4 days later.
In Turkey they refused us access to the lounge to rest because our delay at the airport was 8hrs and not 12hrs.
My intial flight was Europe-Turkey-Jhb&Dbn. Leave Thursday and Arrive Friday.
Instead I flew Europe-Turkey-Doha(Qatar)-Jhb&Dbn. I left my home on Thursday and reached S.A. on Saturday, 24hrs later than I was supposed to.
After contacting them for compensation for what they put me through they refused and blamed it on the weather (which was predictable especially for that airport at that time of year). Do yourself a favour, pay extra for a more reliable/honest airline. Everyone I've spoken to has complained about TURKISH AIRLINES TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I will NEVER FLY with Turkish Airlines again, I will NEVER RECOMMEND them to anyone and I will make sure I share my experience with as many people as possible so that no one has to go through what I did.
Compensation approved, yet the claim remains unresolved
My original itinerary was Geneva–Istanbul–Tokyo. On 6 May 2026, flight TK1920 between Geneva and Istanbul was cancelled due to a technical issue while passengers were already on board the aircraft. This cancellation caused a significant delay to the entire journey to Tokyo.
Turkish Airlines acknowledged the cancellation and confirmed that compensation of EUR 600 per affected passenger was applicable.
Three passengers were travelling under the same booking reference. After several weeks of exchanges, Turkish Airlines approved compensation for two passengers but continues to delay the processing of the third passenger's claim through repeated administrative requirements and contradictory instructions.
The online claims portal no longer allows a new claim to be submitted because the reservation is considered completed, while customer service continues to direct us back to the same portal. Depending on the department and communication channel used, different answers are provided, making the resolution of the matter unnecessarily difficult.
In addition, EUR 492 was paid for seat selection and Extra Legroom services for three passengers on the Istanbul–Tokyo and Tokyo–Istanbul flights. Following the travel disruption, these services were not provided. Turkish Airlines acknowledged that reimbursement was due, yet only a partial refund has been processed and repeated requests for clarification remain unanswered.
The issue is no longer the flight cancellation itself. The issue is the handling of legitimate claims: repeated procedural obstacles, incomplete responses, unexplained partial reimbursements and an excessive administrative burden placed on the customer to obtain what Turkish Airlines has already acknowledged is owed.
At this stage, I am seriously considering referring the matter to the relevant passenger rights authority.
Dreadful Airline - Avoid at all costs as you’ll bear the cost!
Given their marketing hype, I have long considered using Turkish Airlines (TA) and once they commenced flights in Australia this became more interesting/appealing. I did book flights with TA and every experience and interaction with them has been a dreadful, money -grabbing waste of time. I’ve just lost all the money paid for all of my TA flights - I will NEVER book with them again. If you’re smart you’ll stay away from Turkish Airlines and book with an airline that genuinely values its customers and retains their business, e.g. an airline like Emirates.
Good, bad ugly
The flight itself and the flight attendants, are wonderful.Probably, the best i've experienced in my lifetime. However, after the flight landed is a totally different story. My luggage was misplaced. No big deal. So I thought. On the app they say it is in the Moldova. I am told I cannot pick it up, they will deliver it the next day.....they did not. Then, the following day, now it's day, three, they said they will deliver between ten and twelve. At 6 o'clock at night, we wonder what's going on. I need to pick it up. I landed on Tuesday, my luggage was in the city on Wednesday and I was unable to get it until Saturday.
Then, when I open my luggage, I had a ziploc gallon bag, filled with granola bars, STOLEN. I had a tube of toothpaste also STOLEN! THESE THINGS WERE IN MY CHECK LUGGAGE.
The actual flight itself was wonderful....afterwards bsolutely horrendous.
After numerous attempts to change my…
After numerous attempts to change my ticket, filing complaints, and calling Turkish Airlines customer service at least seven times, I still could not get anyone to help me change my flight.
I purchased a Business Prime ticket specifically for the flexibility to change my travel dates and only pay any applicable fare difference. Instead, after keeping me on hold and asking unnecessary questions about my itinerary, the representative came back with a fare difference of nearly $6,000. At that point, my original ticket seemed to have no value, and it felt like they were trying to charge me for an entirely new ticket.
The website does not work properly for ticket changes, and customer service representatives can only check a very limited number of alternative dates. If you ask them to check other options, they often say a supervisor will call you back. In my experience, no one ever calls back. Instead, you receive a generic email with little useful information and a phone number in Turkey.
It is also nearly impossible to speak with a supervisor directly. Every time I was told that someone would contact me, nothing happened.
After spending hours on the phone, the final response was simply, “Sorry, we can’t change your ticket. A supervisor will call you.”
Based on my experience, Turkish Airlines has been the most difficult airline I have ever dealt with when it comes to changing a ticket. The entire process was frustrating, time-consuming, and completely failed to deliver the flexibility that was advertised when I purchased the ticket.
If you’re buying a ticket expecting easy changes and reliable customer support, be prepared for a very different experience.
Worst experience
Worst experience with their feedback department and call center. 6 days and a total of 8+ hours of calls and 4 feedbacks to reschedule the flight they cancelled, but nothing! Absolutely ridiculous.
Bad service from airhostess
- food is tasty but the variety is so limited, I often get the response: sorry we only have XXX option.
- I enjoyed the Touristanbul trip during the layover. Food and cars are clean, tour guide is nice.
- the only negative thing that made me give a 3 star review is bad attitude from the air hostess. There was 1 guy behind me with long legs and he didn’t allow me to recline the chair. He only need to lower his knees a bit or widen his legs just like other ones, but he insisted on keeping his position with his knees against my chair. Ít’s a 10 hour overnight flight and I couldn’t stand the whole night with that upward chair. So I asked the air hostess to talk to him. To my surprise, she said: sorry but he is sleeping. So what? He has the right to have a good sleep but I don’t? She doesn’t want to bother his sleep, what about mine? I should sit up straight the whole night without sleep while he has the right to sleep un-disturbed? I perceive it is an action of discrimination between Asian and Western customers.
Lounge Access Bait and Switch
Sold us lounge access on our flight from Dalaman to Boston, only to be denied entry to the Istanbul lounge. Website was misleading and ruined what may otherwise been a good experience. Agent in Istanbul was rude and officious.
Travel to Sri Lanka!
We have just returned from Sri Lanka and would like to share our experience with Turkish Airlines. Unfortunately, the trip was a major disappointment overall – especially considering that this was the most expensive flight experience we have had as a family so far.
Before the flight:
My wife accidentally missed one letter in her last name when booking the tickets. We wanted to correct it, but this was not possible online. We called Turkish Airlines more than 10 times and, in the end, we were convinced that the issue had been resolved. However, when we arrived at the airport, we found out that nothing had actually been changed. Thankfully, they accepted the mistake at check-in, but the unnecessary stress before our trip cost us a lot of time, energy, and nerves.
Flight 1: Amsterdam – Istanbul
Unfortunately, the cabin crew on this flight did not leave a positive impression. They appeared stressed, unfriendly at times, and occasionally rather harsh toward some passengers. My diabetic meal was surprisingly good, but the meals for my wife and children were disappointing. The entertainment selection was also quite poor.
Regarding Istanbul Airport: Turkish Airlines is obviously not responsible for the airport itself, but we had a similar experience almost everywhere – at check-in, security, and restaurants. Many people seemed stressed and not particularly welcoming. On top of that, prices at the airport were extremely expensive.
Flight 2: Istanbul – Colombo
Again, we experienced a similar atmosphere. The cabin crew seemed stressed and gave us the impression that there might have been tension or pressure among the staff. Of course, this is only our perception, but that was how it felt to us. Unfortunately, it also felt like that stress was being passed on to passengers. The food was average and nowhere near the standard of Emirates or Etihad. The movie selection and entertainment system also did not compare.
Flight 3: Colombo – Istanbul
This was probably the worst breakfast we have ever received on a flight. The omelet was ice cold – either the oven was not working, or it was simply never heated properly. All four meals went back almost untouched. Once again, we had the feeling that we were expected to be grateful just for being served. Communication in English was sometimes difficult, and the cabin crew again appeared stressed and overwhelmed.
Flight 4: Istanbul – Amsterdam
The same pattern continued: stressed and sometimes inattentive cabin crew. One crew member walked past me and my son twice without offering us drinks, and we were simply forgotten during the service. As a result, we did not receive anything to drink on two occasions.
Final thoughts:
I do not want to generalize or judge all employees based on our experience, but after four flights we repeatedly noticed the same issues: stressed staff, limited warmth, and at times the feeling of being more of a burden than a valued customer. Any friendliness often felt more forced than genuine.
We have traveled to Asia several times with different airlines, and this trip made us especially appreciate the friendly, international, and often multilingual cabin crews of Emirates.
For the price we paid, this experience was simply not justified. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience.
Turkish Airlines destroyed my luggage
I recently flew Turkish Airlines from Istanbul to Vienna. My bag was destroyed on this flight...totally unusable and absolutely unrepairable. I only bought my suitcase brand new a few weeks before my travel. The cost $250 aud. After 2 weeks of waiting Turkish Airlines have only offered me $99 aud. What a joke. I was stuck in Vienna without a suitcase and had to pay over $400 aud as there were limited choices there. I understand if they dont cover the cost of the replacement bag I had to buy, but as my bag was literally weeks old they should fully compensate me for my original cost of $250 aud. This "compensation " is a joke and an insult.
Not recommended for disabled passengers
Caution: not recommended for passengers with disabilities. We booked and paid for specific seats for my mother, who has limited mobility, and her carer. The seats were then re-assigned without notice, placing them several rows apart. We’ve tried every helpline, email, support bot. Etc. but nobody will help. There was no refund for the seat allocation either which is illegal. Avoid at all costs!
Complaint Regarding Turkish Airlines…
Complaint Regarding Turkish Airlines Flight TK0035 (Istanbul – Montreal) – July 26, 2024
I am deeply disappointed and concerned by the way Turkish Airlines handled flight TK0035 from Istanbul to Montreal on July 26, 2024.
Although boarding was completed on time, passengers remained on board for approximately one hour before departure without any explanation. After about two hours of flight, the crew announced that the aircraft was experiencing a technical problem and that we would be diverting to Vienna.
The crew appeared confused and communication throughout the incident was poor. Announcements were infrequent, contradictory, and often difficult to understand. Passengers were left without clear information for hours.
What was particularly unacceptable was the lack of care shown toward families and children. Meal service had begun approximately 30 minutes after takeoff but was abruptly stopped after the diversion decision. No alternative meals or snacks were provided despite repeated concerns from passengers. My children went approximately seven hours without food, which is simply unacceptable.
I strongly suspect that Turkish Airlines was already aware of the technical issue before departure from Istanbul. Boarding had been completed on time, yet the aircraft remained on the ground for an additional hour before takeoff. This raises serious questions regarding transparency and decision-making.
The landing in Vienna was difficult and concerning. The aircraft landed at approximately 5:12 p.m., yet passengers were not allowed to leave the aircraft until 11:49 p.m. During those more than six hours on the ground, communication remained inadequate and passengers received little information or assistance.
Even more concerning, passengers were informed that Turkish Airlines intended to continue the journey using the same aircraft that had experienced the technical problem. This caused significant anxiety among passengers who had already endured a stressful and frightening experience.
Throughout this ordeal, the crew and cabin staff demonstrated very little empathy. Hungry children were ignored, passengers were left confused, and there was no clear communication, no sincere apology, and no visible concern for the well-being of those on board. At times, crew members appeared more engaged in conversations among themselves than in assisting worried passengers.
Following the incident, I communicated my concerns directly to Turkish Airlines, hoping that the company would acknowledge the seriousness of the situation and provide a meaningful explanation. Unfortunately, their response was extremely disappointing. The communication was poor, generic, and failed to address the specific concerns I had raised. There was no accountability, no empathy, and no indication that Turkish Airlines understood the distress caused to passengers, especially families with children.
Passengers deserve safety, transparency, respect, and basic care. Unfortunately, Turkish Airlines failed to provide these basic standards. Not only was the handling of Flight TK0035 on July 26, 2024 unacceptable, but the company's response to legitimate customer concerns was equally disappointing.
This experience has severely damaged my confidence in Turkish Airlines, and I believe other travelers deserve to know how passengers are treated when things go wrong.
