Warranty issues for DOA items

I’ve been using Umart for a while, but after this experience, I won’t be shopping there again.

I received a faulty item and was told I need to wait up to 4 weeks for a replacement. Since this item is required for internet access, I asked if I could purchase another one immediately so we wouldn’t be without internet, and then have the original faulty item refunded once processed.

I was told no, and that I had to wait for the vendor to confirm whether I was eligible for a DOA refund/replacement.

Being left without internet for up to 4 weeks while waiting for vendor confirmation is not an acceptable outcome.

I’d give them -5 if I could.

I’d give them -5 if I could.
Dodgy company, Not the same as used to be 5 years ago. Support is in the Phillipines(that’s Umart guarantee)and besides apologising they’re Useless and have no clue. There’s NO way to contact the store you had issues with.
The website does Not have anyway to Track your order or contact them for any update. Umart website is Misleading!
I live 30min from Mansfield store in Brisbane but decided to purchase online as it said “Same Day Dispatch” , that was Thursday, even if it said Same Day I’ve purchased Express Shipping for an extra $19 to make sure I get it same or next day,I have not received it same day so I called next day hoping to get it on Friday, the support girl I got(in Philippines) says to me that it clearly says 1 to 3 business days on the website, Anyone here is Welcome to look even now and see that it’s incorrect and Only says Same Day Dispatch. Their support staff are paid to Lie to help Umart SCAM people easier. I was so angry and asked to cancel it and refund then she says that would take around a week until the funds return to the account they’re taken it from.then she says I pretty much can’t do much but wait until it arrives.
For Anyone thinking dealing with Umart cause they’re cheap think again , pay an extra $10 or so and buy it from REAL businesses!
You’ll thank me later !!!
BTW, I’ve been with Umart over 15 years but Always walked in their stores to purchase, this was the 1st time ever I purchased from them online and got to know how BAD they’re.
also, the promises I got from both their support staff I contacted that they’ll pass this issue to someone to follow up and contact me were Lies as well, No one contacted me to sort their online SCAM!
They Lost me and seems they don’t even care, Don’t waste your time and money with these SCAMMERS!

Retailer Swaps Product Image & Description AFTER purchase.

Purchased VD6 Bundle that advertised an included clutch pedal in the image, product description, specifications, etc. Collected product, returned home and during unpacking noticed third pedal was not included. After contacting support, UMART changed my purchase history, the image, the product description and the specifications to show a different product that did not include clutch pedal. I had paid $929.95 (which matches PXN AU listing for 3 pedal bundle) and Umart proceeded to state that I have received the right product, they just had the wrong details on it. Only resolution offered was to return it for a full refund (impossible as I live a significant distance away).

#1 Worst Customer Service Australian PC Store

Warning: Avoid Umart for warranty claims — deal with the manufacturer instead.

I should note that the ground staff is always great and helpful. This is directed to management and poor support team.

I sent my SSD to Umart for a warranty claim. Given SSD prices have increased significantly, I reasonably expected a like-for-like replacement.

Instead, Umart did not process the claim through the supplier and unilaterally issued a refund, stating the SSD was “end of life.” This is questionable, as the same model is still available from the supplier.

I originally paid $179. To replace it now, I’m forced to spend $320 out of pocket — a direct financial loss caused by Umart’s handling of the warranty.

When I requested my SSD back and asked to reverse the refund so the claim could be properly processed, I was met with delays and unhelpful responses from both support and feedback teams. Net result: wasted time and money.

I’ve been a loyal Umart customer for years. This experience shows that when it comes to warranties, customer interests come second to convenience.

This matter had been referred to ACCC and I'm awaiting their advice on this.

bought 1 for B+M key sata but got wrong type on 16Dec25 (order 7619163). Rang up the woman [3.26pm and 4.17pm] said i could ask for $ back. Went to Milton Umart met [only] man with broken arm [with blue armband]. He said cannot exchange for B+M enclosure as seals were broken, they cannot resell. As I started to walk out, he said my ssd harddisk could fit. Then he fit my B+M harddisk to NVMe enclosure, tested it then said it worked. Went home tried on Windows and Linux...it did not work. Now I realised he forced it so the enclosure damaged so I cannot return, it may also rendered my harddrive useless. Well done Milton Umart, Qld.

Absolutely disgraceful customer service…

Absolutely disgraceful customer service – misleading and dishonest

I had one of the worst retail experiences I’ve ever dealt with at Umart.

I returned a router due to serious performance and range issues (not as described). In store, I was misled about what I was signing, being told it was simply an inspection form to check for physical damage — not a warranty assessment. Later, Umart claimed it was a warranty submission, which I never agreed to.

I was initially told a refund was approved, then they backtracked, changed their story, restricted my communication, and kept both my money and the router while dragging the process out endlessly. I even offered to exchange for a more expensive router and pay the difference — they refused.

I was eventually forced to buy another router elsewhere just to have internet at home, while Umart continued delaying and deflecting responsibility. Their internal case numbers didn’t even exist when checked.

This entire process has been misleading, stressful, and completely avoidable. I’ve now escalated the matter formally because Umart refused to resolve it reasonably.

Avoid Umart if you value honesty, transparency, or consumer rights.

Bought a laptop and the charger blew up and cut the power to my entire house

Asked for a refund and they want to send my whole laptop away for over a month to be “tested” by gigabyte so they can eventually say that it’s not their fault.

Untimely, unfair and useless Umart

Purchased a Gigabyte GPU through our closets Umart in December, 7 months later it crashed out leaving us with no working PC. Took it back to Umart for them to “send it” to Gigabyte. Got sent back after 3 weeks saying nothing was wrong. Took it to another PC repair place for them to confirm GPU has crashed out. Took it back to Umart for them to test instore and confirm the GPU failed. Umart had to send it away again to Gigabyte this time with video evidence. Another 3 weeks passed and I follow it up with a phone call where I am told no fault has been found. I press for further testing to be conducted and demand a refund as it’s now over 2 months without a working PC. I am advised they will need to send it back to Gigabite again (third time). It’s now been another two weeks without any word and we are into our 3rd month of no PC. Umart have not responded to my request for a refund nor provided adequate updates.

First time I've ever submitted a fair trading complaint. Bought a 5080 GPU from them for $2,000. Wasn't working from the start until it was angled in a certain way. Took it out to install an nvme, but wouldn't work no matter how it was angled. Took it to the shop. Confirmed not working, then they tested it again when I wasn't there and it was working. So they sent it to Hong Kong for inspection. It's been 4 months I've had no graphics card and they refuse to refund or replace it whilst knowing there is an intermittent issue with it. Don't purchase anything, because if it stops working after 10 days, they wont refund you.

Sold me a faulty used PC

Purchased a new gaming PC from Umart and was given a used, faulty PC that was a complete nightmare. They did a windows reset on a 12 month old used, faulty PC and sold it to me as new. They then lied and refused to take any responsibility. Thankfully I used Paypal to purchase it and was able to initiate a dispute and provide undeniable evidence of their criminality, or I would have had to take them to court (which I was prepared to do). They are straight up criminals and I would avoid them at all costs. Pay a few dollars more and shop elsewhere to not get scammed. They are an absolute disgrace.

WARNING

WARNING: UNCONSCIONABLE WARRANTY FRAUD. Forced Legal Action (And Lost) but Still Refused to Pay.
I cannot stress this enough: STAY FAR AWAY FROM UMART. If you value your time, your money, or the peace of mind that comes with an actual product warranty, shop elsewhere. This is not merely a complaint about a faulty product; this is an account of gross corporate misconduct, fraudulent warranty rejection, and contempt for the judicial system.
The Broken Promise: A Warranty Refused
I purchased a product that failed while still covered under the manufacturer's warranty. The item was returned to UMART in its original, meticulously kept packaging, complete with all accessories.
The response from their warranty department was immediate and deceitful: they unilaterally and falsely deemed the damage "intentional." This is a bold-faced lie. I take exceptional care of all my products. They provided absolutely zero credible evidence to back up this claim, which was clearly an attempt to avoid their legal obligations.
The Stonewalling
I attempted to escalate this matter to management, as any reasonable customer would. I was repeatedly stonewalled and met with obstructive employees who showed total disregard for my consumer rights. UMART's internal structure seems designed to prevent customers from speaking to anyone capable of resolving a legitimate dispute. My item remained stuck in this warranty black hole while UMART refused to take responsibility.
The Court Battle and the Smoking Gun
Left with no other choice to recoup my loss, I was forced to take UMART to court. The court found entirely in my favour, affirming that UMart was liable for the faulty product and ordering them to remedy the situation (repair or replace).
It was during this legal process that I uncovered the most shocking piece of evidence: UMART HAD ALREADY REPAIRED THE ITEM. This proves two things:
The damage was repairable and, therefore, not catastrophic "intentional" destruction.
UMART wasted months claiming the product was intentionally broken while actively working on it or having it repaired.
Final Act of Contempt
The court recommended that UMART pay for my incurred court fees, given the necessity of legal action due to their obstinance. What was UMART'Sresponse to the court judgment? They rejected the recommendation and insisted they were "not in the wrong," demanding that I pay for my own court fees despite their loss.
This retailer is not only dishonest in their warranty process but actively shows contempt for consumer law and the courts when held accountable. They will lie, obstruct, and force you into expensive legal processes just to avoid honoring their basic duties.
UMART WILL NOT UPHOLD YOUR WARRANTY. THEY WILL ACCUSE YOU OF FRAUD. THEY WILL FORCE YOU TO SUE THEM. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS.

Great pricing, customer service and returns/warranty policy

I have been buying parts with Umart for over 5 years and have picked up items from their Chermside, Milton, Eight Mile Plains and Mansfield locations. Staff at every location have been friendly and helpful, service is quick, and they have same-day pickup for in-stock items.

I have had to replace 2 items under warranty that I have purchased from Umart - a power supply that shorted after 2 years of use, and a motherboard which was faulty out of the box. I returned the items to the Mansfield store on both occasions. I found the warranty claim process to be quick and efficient both times, and I was given a refund with a short turnaround time and minimal hassle. The original power supply model was no longer stocked, but I was given a full cash refund for the original price I paid for it.

As such, I am a bit confused reading some of these other reviews regarding warranty issues. While I understand that things sometimes go wrong, I can only assume that maybe a bit of politeness and a lack of entitlement goes a long way when dealing with customer service representatives.

Bad Sales Rep Experiences.

My regular interaction with Umart is often pleasant. However today, i have the unfortunate experience talking to online support girl(23/09/2025 11:00 Am). The reason i was calling Umart is to check for an order i made online. Nothing spectacularly special, just average run of the mill inquiry. She ask abruptly what is the reason i was calling Umart. So i explained that i would like to check the status on an order. So i gave her the order number. And she quipped back that she need my full name, email and contact number. So i gave it to her. But she' quipped back sounding irritated. Asking without saying the customary polite way of 'May i please have your detail again as i missed your name or whatever she failed to get'. In spite of this, I did not go agro toward her, so i spell my name, email and number, so she could note it down. Anyways her aggravation continued. Specially when I politely asked her if she has ETA of when i could pickup the item. Again she abruptly responded back, sounding irritated that I even have the nerve to ask her for some ETA of my order. So she quipped back again, scolding me that i should wait for the notice. Now, not I'm not sure if she's having a good day or not. But the fact of the matter remain, she's customer sales support staff. A critical service personnel, who could make or break business relationship or sales. So its paramount that she must, whatever her excuse is, to maintain polite composure when dealing with a customer. Specially those who spend significant amount of money purchasing all sort of things from the business she's supposed to represent. I been polite and courteous when talking to her. Never treated her condescendingly, even if i know its her jobs to answer customer question. Even if sound silly to her. Because customer is the one paying the business. Which in turn pays her salary. And therefore must be treated with respect and politeness. Instead of being treated as source of annoyance to her. I used to work in software technology industry and dealt with customer myself. And frequently I do encounter very aggressive and threatening customers. Whose problem may heave been cause by someone else and not me. And yet I end up receiving derogatory comments. But this is not an excuse for me to be rude. Rather I still have to treat these condescending customers with professional courtesies. And if i could not pacify them I would politely advise them that i have to report or record their conversation with me to my immediate manager. My point is, my emotional situation, my day situation, good or bad, is my personal business that I have to deal with. And not use it, to unload my frustration to my customer. Specially those whose been polite, courteous and real money paying customers. Because if i could not managed my professional affair, then i shouldn't be in customer facing position. That could affect financial cash-flow of the company i worked for. And in turn impact the livelihood of my fellow employees. When i work for a company my daily professional responsibility is not just for myself, but also with my co-employee, And the customers who is paying my salary.

Think they know better than consumer…

Umart think they know better than consumer protection.
Umart customer service is awful. Been trying to return a product for 6 months now. The warranty team has only just responded after a lot of support tickets and phone calls to say “no”. They even ignored a customer protection request and now my case has gone for conciliation.
Pay the extra few $$ and purchase from elsewhere.

Sold me a faulty motherboard, no customer service

Sold me a faulty motherboard. I took it back to the local store, they advised it would have to be assessed at another location - timeline to be resolved was a week.

Now they've told me it's going to take 4 weeks just to be assessed. No refund, no return, only that they will repair it if there's an issue.

I'm now unable to use my primary device, I'm a small business owner without their main device for work for a month.
