About Vets Now

Pet emergencies can happen at any time – including when your regular vet is closed.

That’s why our nationwide network of out-of-hours pet emergency clinics are open through the night, at weekends and on bank holidays, so we’re ready and waiting to provide expert pet emergency care when your regular vet is having some time off.

Our pet emergency clinics are the pet equivalent of A&E and our purpose is to give you and your pet the care and support you deserve, at the time you need it most, whether it’s four in the morning or in the middle of Sunday lunch.

Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from over 60 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 200,000 small animals every year — our highly-skilled team works hard throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.

We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our two hospitals — in Glasgow and Manchester — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Olly

We can not thank all the staff from Vets Now and the critical care team plus the surgical team. You are all amazing, you saved our Olly's life.

When we arrived at the centre on a Saturday afternoon with our very ill dog Olly, they were waiting on him to arrive and as soon as we walked in, he was taken straight away to Critical Care, as they thought he had a ruptured Gallbladder. Carmen explained everything that was going to happen to olly and we stayed as we were over 50 minutes away.

Olly had to get more xrays to make sure his heart was ok as well. We then got a call to say the xray was all good and he was on his way to surgery .

We then came home as this was about 7 at night , we had a very nervous wait and then the phone went at around 10.30 at night from Leonor his surgeon, she was so lovely and explained what had been done and it confirmed a ruptured gallbladder he had. They removed the gallbladder and all the bile around his abdomen plus some of his liver .

We were still in the very early days but he was doing really well, Kara from the Icu gave us update calls every morning and evening telling us how he was getting on and also sent us photos each day was so lovely to see his wee face each day was so kind of Kara . The care the whole team provided for Olly was outstanding Thank You all so much our little boy is home and making a fantastic recovery .

Thank you to all the staff who helped to look after my wee cat through the night. You were very caring and ensured we were kept updated on his progress. You also supported us, taking time to explain the medications and options for my wee cat. Who is now on the mend and back to his cheeky self.

Kind, considerate and accommodating

Vets Now in Glasgow were able to take my 10 year old cat in with very little notice when he was struggling to breathe on his own. They were kind and understanding when we needed it.
They looked after our cat as if he were their own and kept us informed throughout.
Vets Now were accommodating of our questions and worked with us to come to an arrangement that was best for our cat when we said we might struggle with the cost.
Because of them we’ve been able to bring our wee man home. I could not be more grateful and, if we ever need to, I’d take him back.

A few months ago we had to get our cat…

A few months ago we had to get our cat euthanised after a short illness, part of her treatment involved a couple of stays with Vets now in Glasgow, where we found all the staff and services to be very compassionate and professional and who helped make a very very difficult time, that bit more bearable, although in the end it wasn’t a positive outcome for Poppy, we very much appreciated the kindness of everyone we encountered in the practice.

Vets Now Glasgow

Visited Vets Now in Glasgow with my cat for a CT scan. She was in an unfamiliar environment and was understandably distressed by the situation. However, all staff were very helpful and made us feel relaxed and welcome. Staff were in contact throughout the day with updates and were very efficient at providing feedback from the scan. They clearly explained and supported us with the next steps of her treatment and are a very caring team of practitioners.

Thank You Vets Now

All staff were very friendly and informative. They were happy to answer any additional questions we had. They helped ease our mind greatly in the consultation over the phone before we brought our dog in to see them. They saw our dog within ten mins of arriving and made him feel comfortable throughout the whole process of being seen. Thank you for the great work you do!

Poppy Kemp

Referral to Vets Now was made my our local vet and we received a call within days to arrange an appointment for our dog to be seen. We waited under 2 weeks for appointment which was very helpful. The specialist we seen was very knowledgeable, caring, kind and explained our dogs condition well and gave us lots of information and advice on how to manage her condition. We left Vets Now with the information to make a clear plan on how to give our dog a happy and comfortable life.

Kind professional service

The staff ( nurse and vet) were really good. They were gentle, understanding, and explained what they were doing and what we could expect.

The waiting area was very warm and uncomfortable. This was amplified by the fact that our wait was 2hrs plus. The wait was understandable and we were grateful that our dog was not sick enough to need urgent attention but all the more reason to have the area more comfortable.
The receptionist explained the charges when we called so I was not surprised but I was concerned for folk who could not afford the cost and would be unable to seek help.
