About Vets Now

Pet emergencies can happen at any time – including when your regular vet is closed.

That’s why our nationwide network of out-of-hours pet emergency clinics are open through the night, at weekends and on bank holidays, so we’re ready and waiting to provide expert pet emergency care when your regular vet is having some time off.

Our pet emergency clinics are the pet equivalent of A&E and our purpose is to give you and your pet the care and support you deserve, at the time you need it most, whether it’s four in the morning or in the middle of Sunday lunch.

Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from over 60 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 200,000 small animals every year — our highly-skilled team works hard throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.

We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our two hospitals — in Glasgow and Manchester — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Stomach upset -dog

My dog was lethargic, not eating or drinking etc. Got an appointment which I was grateful for and he had blood tests. All clear. Price was excessive which I expected, £400+. No breakdown of cost until emailed later. £23 for 5 generic paracetamol which I couldn't give him due to him refusing food/water? I was giving him a 5ml water every 30 mins via syringe. Childrens calpol would be a better solution, but not sold by vets, so not suggested. Anti sickness jab,he promptly vomited when we left. They know people are upset when their pets are sick and this is taken into consideration to take advantage of cost.
This is not aimed at the staff but the company.

Hi Nicki, thanks for your feedback on the cost of our service. As you may be aware, it’s a lot more expensive to run an after-hours emergency vet service. The greater running costs we incur are reflected in our prices. Amazing Staff doing an incredible job

We attended Vets Now late on a Saturday night after our pug decided to eat a bit of mouldy pizza from an outside bin. The staff were absolutely amazing, there was a bit of a wait but nothing anyone could do about that. They advised us on what needed to be done/given and made sure our dog was much better before handing him back and sent us home with medication and clear instructions! They work extremely hard to ensure they provide the best care possible for our beloved pets, thank you so much!!

Don’t go to vets now!

I went to vets now because it was my nearest out of hours vets. When I got there the receptionist took 45 minutes to make me a file because she was stuck on a part of the registering process. Rather than asking someone for help, she muttered under her breath for the entire time cursing at the computer. Because of this, we didn’t get seen for the entire time until she had registered us (I got a text when we were registered so I know when). During the time we waited one of the auxiliary nurses whipped out a hoover and started hoovering around my cat who was in agony and stressed.
The vet then prescribed steroids and metacam, which when together they cause diarrhoea. She also didn’t dilate his pupil, which can cause the pupil to become stuck if not done immediately. When seen by his usual vet the next day, I was relayed this information and how dangerous it could have been for him.

To top it off, they refused to do a direct claim then charged me £25 before they would process my claim, which I had paid for upfront. It felt like they were holding it hostage until I paid them! No other vets I know do this.
