Pet Care Advice
Customer Hub
Pet emergencies can happen at any time – including when your regular vet is closed.
That’s why our nationwide network of out-of-hours pet emergency clinics are open through the night, at weekends and on bank holidays, so we’re ready and waiting to provide expert pet emergency care when your regular vet is having some time off.
Our pet emergency clinics are the pet equivalent of A&E and our purpose is to give you and your pet the care and support you deserve, at the time you need it most, whether it’s four in the morning or in the middle of Sunday lunch.
Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from over 60 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 200,000 small animals every year — our highly-skilled team works hard throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.
We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our two hospitals — in Glasgow and Manchester — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Vet was amazing and loving and patient with my nervous dog,the only downside was the £309 consulting fee. I appreciate its an emergency but feel this cost is really steep

Incredibly friendly staff, super vet who was very thorough and put me and my dog at ease.
Only downside is why does it cost £300 just for a consultation because it was out of hours (as in New Year’s Day?). I expect it to be more expensive than usual but that’s more than triple a usual fee!

I believed my puppy to have a blockage. I’d rang ahead and asked to do x rays. Was told to take him home and monitor him to see if he continued to be sick - was also then told to pay nearly £100 for an anti sickness injection that would of course cover up the symptoms in which I was told to monitor.
I took him home and I wasn’t happy and stil believed he needed scans. Fortunately I took him to another vets the next morning who scanned him to find over 2ft of blockage and saved his life with Emergancy surgery. If left much longer he would have died.

Excellent service last night from Elena & Natalie at Milton Keynes. My poorly cat had to be put to sleep, but they were sympathetic and careful to explain the whole process to us. Thank you from Oreo’s Mum.

I’ve had to go to Vets now on several overnight emergency visits and they have provided an exceptional service. Everyone was so lovely and caring and I saw several of the vets, all were excellent. I trusted them completely and my pet is now recovering well after following their advice. I’m very grateful to them

My cat was fitting. My call was handled quickly and on arrival my cat was taken straight into the emergency room. I was kept informed at all times while they monitored him. The staff were so compassionate and caring. I cannot fault the service I received.

Vets now charge £296.50 just for a consultation. The Milton Keynes practice is not good, their customer service is non existent. We were the only people in the practice at 11.08pm, we stood at reception desk waiting to pay and despite 4 or 5 staff being behind the desk not one of them acknowledged us they were too busy chatting. Considering my total bill was £451.92 which consisted of a £256.50 consultation fee, £123.42 for 2ml of Emedog and another £32.00 fee for Emisis inducton (which means making my dog sick but i can only imagine means they stuck thier fingers down her throat as theyd injected her with Emidog which is a drug used to induce sickness) I would have expected better customer service. I visited them not by choice but because they are now the OOH service for my local vet as my staffie had eaten a small plum stone. It has been nearly 3 weeks since my visit and despite my insurers contacting them on 4 occasions and me contacting them 4 times they still haven't processed the insurance claim, they haven't acknowledged any of the emails sent and they are not contactable by phone as when you call they say they are open untill 8pm but when you choose the extensi9n number advised for the service you require, you get a message saying the extension is not valid (I tried every single option just to get to speak to someone and none of they numbers they tell you are valid) I would say AVOID VETS NOW they are a con, they just take your money and run.

It is ironic this place calls itself a friendly family vet - my experience was cold, no compassion and definitely not caring or in anyway loving to animals. The receptionist showed NO love for animals, the Vet, who did not introduce her herself as the vet but walked over and looked at our poorly 13 year old dog and callously. said - “ I
can see this is only going one way” - needs to have training in how to deal with people but more importantly animals. Overall an absolute disgrace to call
themselves a vet -PLEASE do not take your animals there. I am I disgusted people like this call themselves a vetinary practice. I paid over £400 to be told my dog was not a well dog. So very sad these people take your money and sleep at night.

My cat was attacked by a fox early hours of morning and Vet was trying to persuade me to have my cat put to sleep or spend £1000 for a night in an oxygen tank saying he has underlying health issues (they also refused to see us unless we had £300 there and then) 2 days later after refusing treatment my cat is purring again and healing nicely.

All of the staff from reception to admin to vets and nurses were amazing from the moment we brought Bruno in who was very poorly its thanks to this great team I got to bring my little Bruno home

The staff & service were very good & efficient. No-one ever wants to be using emergency vets & the medications seemed to be over-priced which given the consultation fee being charged on top, seems odd. However it is what it is. Certainly should not detract from the staff & vets who provide a vital & excellent service. When I was in 2 or 3 families were having to have their pets PTS which delayed us being seen & the staff were very good in communicating that discreetly to us as we waited so we understood the situation & could show compassion.

I had to rush my poorly Basset Hound (17 months) to the emergency vet on Bank Holiday Monday due to a digestive problem that recurred after just 3 weeks. It was very quiet and we were seen quickly. The vet that examined him was very thorough though I felt she was a little stern and didn't show much empathy with either of us though maybe I was too panicky and expected too much. They did a blood test and we came home with some meds and a rehydration fluid.... and a bill for £557.00 for 20 mins..... due to a limited amount left on his insurance due to a fairly recent eye op I paid this myself. £296.00 b4 anyone even sees you is a little steep albeit a Bank Holiday I think. But having said this, I was very grateful there was somewhere i could take him to hopefully start him back on a healthy path.
