I have had a single Y-cam Evo for a few years now. I chose to use Y-cam, because it didn't cost anything over and above the purchase price. I was so used to seeing the recordings in B&W that upon setting up a second Evo camera recently, I was surprised to see the recordings in color. My two cameras and the Y-cam app. keep our home secure and myself orientated with regards to any family, friend or "fiend" that enters our home.
CCTV/security cameras, are in my mind, primarily there to convince potential burglars to not burgle this particular property, we don't have anything much to steal anyway, but experience shows that psychologically, having had a stranger invade ones private space is not pleasant, so investing in security cameras is a great idea.
I'm looking for a door chime/camera currently, these are just so cool and catch great videos, especially in the US, hopefully Y-cam are working on introducing one to their range soon.
I bought a couple of indoor security cameras many years ago and the service and product were first class BUT that has deteriorated over the years and has reached such a level that I have just put the two cameras in the waste bin.
I would never deal with this company ever again.
BEWARE!
Been having issues with my Y-cam Hd pro outdoor camera , we started to get light reflection at night when using night vision, then night vision stopped working, reset camera still no joy, today decided to put the ladder up to have a look and discovered that condensation inside front cover with water laying in the bottom of the Lens cover.
Not very impressed, supposed to be ip waterproof rated
we spend a lot of time in Europe and rely heavily on our cameras
We have a older recorder system covering the back of the site been up over 6 years never had an issue other than cobwebs,
We were looking into putting y-cam internal cameras In, but thinking now to looking at a different system
WELL IF YOU USE A CONTRACTOR AND ONE IS INSTALLED AS PART OF A LARGER REFERB BEWARE Y-CAM WONT HONOUR GUARANTEE AS ITS NOT PROOF OF PURCHASE EVEN THOUGH THEY CAN SEE DATE REGISTERED CONTRACTOR NO LONGER TRADING

I bought an IP Y cam when it came with the free 7 day storage. The company then failed to deliver what it had previously advertised and promised - free storage. Thankfully I had only invested in one camera. The footage from the camera was okay, however the camera regularly drops its connection to the internet sometimes this can be several times a day.
Since then, I've moved to CCTV cameras with storage. I can't see the benefit of paying for new cameras and monthly fees for the cloud storage when there are other options available. I've paid one fee to buy the equipment. I get email alerts on any motion, can download footage to my phone, pc or straight onto a usb drive and can watch live footage from any camera whilst away from home. The CCTV system doesn't drop its internet connection like the Y cam does and therefore is always available remotely.
Worse case scenario, hard drive box gets stolen (which is well hidden and would take time and effort to find), however motion trigger will have captured the incident and still send an email of the incident to me.
First bought one of these cameras 3 years ago and subsequently bought 6 more due to the functionality and the free 7-day recording, and have recommended to family. I was a huge advocate of this brand.
That was back then.
Y-Cam was since sold to a new company, which have recently started applying subscription charges per camera to boost their profits, They didn't clarify that when I became a customer 3 years ago. A complete rip-off - there are much more economical deals out there with other providers. EVEN 99.99 A YEAR IS NOT A COST I SIGNED UP TO. I feel conned that it was positioned as free for life.

I bought with free life time cloud recording. I've just been told by e-mail that recordings will stop in 14 days unless I pay a subscription. This is a disgrace. The camera was expensive but had included this. It will soon be in landfill and I have to buy a new system. Avoid.

First of all I was trying to order security system for our office with the corporate VISA card. The amount was around 1000 euro, but the company didn't accept the payment for some security reasons. That is very strange since we book all the business trips, hotels, flights and many more with the same payment card and everywhere it is accepted. Second of all I tried to order the items with the payment option through bank wire. But the company sent us invoice without VAT deduction even I have provided VAT number. They said they cannot verify that. It is way to difficult to order things from this company and they are loosing too much money. I believe I am not the only customer who failed trying to order something from them.

Very disappointing a good quality picture from a small camera but, sadly linked to a poor app which is apparently both clunky and unreliable and therefore of limited to no security use. I have had to delete and reload the camera too many times but it often just comes up as offline. My fast broadband is stable at 35+ mbps/sec and all my other phone apps work fine.
No response from y cam support. A great shame as I used y cam for many years without a problem from the US and Europe but now looking for a functioning more reliable solution.

I have now purchased 6 outdoor cameras over three years and am now recommending them to friends and family. These provide great home security and the app enables me to monitor live or watch recordings from my iphone remotely which is brilliant. I do need to brush spier webs off on a regular basis but the motion recording and video quality are excellent. Altogether a brilliant product and good value.
I bought these initially as there was free cloud storage. Then with little warning that became chargeable. I now realise it was too good to be true. Cameras are ok, but drop out of Wi-fi occasionally - for some reason some work better than others and I have 4!
Probably better options out there I suspect.
After request of support to know how to update software on cameras, i did not receive satisfactory help. Result: 2 non working cameras

Joined Y-Cam 4-5 years ago and everything was fine so far we have bought 4 cams 1 alarm and several sensors and at the time it was advertised as free cloud service for life, however, later on, they decided they would start charging a monthly subscription for the service and I remember there was quite a backlash about this on there facebook page however I swallowed that pill and went along with the new subscription charges,Since this time the cams are always going on and off like the weather and sometimes we lose them altogether for 2-3 days.
Recently one of my cams died so I contacted Y-Cam to purchase a new cam and considering I was a loyal customer I asked if they had any offers on or a discount codes however I was totally fobbed off and told "No there already cheap enough" anyhow I decided to try a Google search and found a working 5% off code ok it only knocked £8.00 off the order but every little helps! (They could have given me this code direct and at least made me feel like a valued customer?
My 2 cams arrived at the weekend and I arranged for a local handyman to install them outside for me because being disabled I'm unable to climb a ladder but could easily connect them to my mac with the ID numbers etc however every time I entered the security code I get code not recognised so I called Y-Cam and waited twenty minutes to get through and explained the issue and was told the person who could help me with this was out of the office and would be back within the hour and to call back then,I called back later to be told by another colleague that I should have not been advised that and the only one tech person of Y-Cam was still not back in the office and had to leave my contact number in hope that he may decide to call later on (Fingers crossed)
I know Y-Cam sold the company last year and the old owner as stayed in position as a manger-tech etc however it appears this company has gone down the pan judging by the reviews online and I also noticed they removed there facebook and Twitter accounts I imagine this being because of the number of complaints they had started receiving online.
I feel we should actually report this company to BBC Watchdog to get them to investigate the poor customer service from Y-Cam so if anyone wishes to support me in this complaint please message me directly!!!
Y-cam you need to start looking after your customers again improve on the customer service and consider investing in more tech guys to help customers
We started off with ycam a number years ago - seemed to work well but now the delay between upto date images is just too slow and take too long to appear, and it doesn’t pick up images on number of times. Feeling very disappointed as we have six cameras that we subscribe to but not getting the quality that you would expect from security devices. - YCAM look at your customer reviews......... and do something about it

Have 2 cameras and neither work well . Constantly fail to connect. They send spurious movement warnings when there is none. They constantly need reset as they go offline ir the night vision fails. Asked for replacements when they were still under guarantee but have been fobbed off. Seems reviews are skewed between 1 and 5 stars! Always suspicions when you see that.

Had my cameras three years. Was disgruntled when they started charging for the 'free storage for life' that was part of the contract when I bought the cameras but paid up and shut up. Now the system is unreliable with frequent, random disconnections and reconnections. Sometimes one camera goes down, sometimes two and often all three. Y-Cam blame my internet and router but my other non-YCam cameras work as they should.
I get notifications of motion detected but find the cameras are down and nothing has recorded.
It now takes far too long to access live view when the cameras are running - the app has become very laggy on my iPad, my Android phone and my Windows PC.
No customer service at all out of office hours - what sort of security company is this?
Apart from the initial cost of purchasing and installing three cameras I am paying £100 a year for a non-existent customer service and unreliable cameras.
They will not release the necessary information to enable me to use the cameras with different software.
My internet is very stable and never falls below 200 Mbps - more than fast enough to support all my tech yet Y-Cam still blames my equipment when the cameras fail.
There are many other companies to choose from - a lot of them much cheaper than Y-Cam. I recommend that people looking for security cameras go elsewhere.

The old cameras were faster to start recording, indeed they seemed to record a loop so if I triggered one by opening the door the video uploaded showed seconds before the actual door opened which was fantastic.
The new one takes a few seconds to wake up and start recording , I can actually get into my boat and beat it :(

Whilst previously I would have recommended Y-cam, their performance during the last six months or so has totally changed my opinion.
a) The Android application has become buggy, with frequent freezing (necessitating a force stop) and occasional crashes.
b) At the end of August one of my cameras stopped working and despite reboots, resets, etc, etc couldn’t get it to work again. I later discovered it was an issue at Y-Cam, but they didn’t bother telling anyone, nor did they do the logical thing, and put a note on their website.
c) Movement recording and notifications on one camera has stopped. Another is very erratic. Again have gone through the whole reboot, reinstall etc saga to no avail.
d) The online support centre has had no updates that I can see for 2019, and only two for 2018!!
e) Worst of all, the help desk, (which runs only 9 to 5 Monday to Friday, which is dreadful for a company which advertises itself as being in the home security business) doesn’t respond to emails.
Customer service now appears to be non-existent, and I'd suggest avoiding this company for the time being until standards improve.
Not sure where to start with Y-Cam, really are Not interested in helping anyway, free cloud storage for life, yet they stopped this,
They let me have a year subscription for 4.99 a month which personally I think it too much after they had promised life storage, problem is I went out and spent about 700 pounds on cameras etc due to free storage and then they pull the plug and say you have to pay. Support is shocking and the definition of the cameras isn’t amazing either.
Plus the user interface is shocking.
Never been given advice on if these can be used with an NVR, be nice if the support guys were helpful instead not giving a monkeys about customers. When my 4.99 subscription ran out it went up to 9.99, I stopped that as felt after paying what I had paid for the cameras it was just too much. And also after the principle reason for buying them was because cloud storage was free for life, all be it a fairly limited but did the job. Now stuck with the stupid things.
Time To get another set that actually work as advertised.
Y-cam you really are not interested in helping people, such a shame, used to be good.
