Y-cam has become a bit hit and miss…

Y-cam has become a bit hit and miss unfortunately. When it works, it's brilliant, but when it doesn't (increasingly more frequently), it's very frustrating. The app is particularly buggy at the moment and hangs / freezes / crashes all the time. One of my cameras recently stopped allowing me to view live video and I would have needed to reboot it to get it working again, physically impossible when you're away from the house. If these glitches could be ironed out the experience for customers would be so much better.

Pleased with my cameras.

I bought 2 indoor cameras in 2016 (Home Monitor HD and Evo HD) and was pleased with the performance. However the night vision on the Evo stopped working after 18 months, but it still works perfectly OK in lighted conditions.

I've recently bought another indoor camera which will replace the Evo. I am impressed that when the cameras are triggered you actually get to see the event that caused them to trigger. Not all security cameras will do this.

I found the support helpline useful, but trying to initiate a subscription seems very difficult.

Great modern home security system!

I work in IT and have been embracing cloud like solutions for years.

The Y-Cam suite offers everything I need in home security, pet monitoring and just an all round great way to keep an eye on our family home.

I love the extra little checks I am now able to do. I placed my cameras in locations that allow me to check if I closed the garden gate, or did I switch the stove off, or when was the last time the cats used the cat flap. These are all things I can now know from any where in the world.

It’s the first home security system that I’m actually using actively on a day to day basis.

Just bought a second outdoor Y-cam and…

Just bought a second outdoor Y-cam and discovered you only get 12months free cloud storage.Before Y-cam was taken over you could contact them on phone and someone was there to speak to.You now have to leave a message on voicemail.Disappointed .

Easiest security setup ever! Was up and running in literally 10minutes. Modern system for a modern world. The app is awesome and I feel sooo safe and protected.

Not very impressed, dissapointed

Not very impressed - The camera records intermittently. My camera is angled at the driveway and clear recording zones are marked but more than 50% of the time the camera doesnt record when the car leaves /enters the driveway. I have emailed support and have not received any assistance in 48 hours !! I needed support as there was an incident when someone entered our car illegally but there was no recording found, this prompted me to check last few recordings and I noted the large gaps when the camera just doesnt record !! Would not recommend . Its disappointing.

Very disappointed - avoid

Very disappointed. Bought 2 cameras for remote location. After 3 weeks both not functioning correctly. Appears to be multiple issues - currently one is offline adn cannot be restored remotely and neither is uploading video clips after motion activation
Service support from Y-Cam is terrible. No telephone support (phone is just not answered and voice message says go to website - average response time to email for support is 5 days (2 attempts).
Cannot recommend a purchase

I got two cameras and have nothing but trouble, though I paid it will not record only because I got new rooter and had to delete and an reinstalled the cameras.
Enen when one camera record its only in Black & White.
No one bother to reply to my Email.

I have five cameras

I have five cameras, four external and one internal. In the main they work well but infrequently one may lose its connection despite me having superfast fibre. They sometimes get confused and one or two don't switch off when I return home. I general however, the system is good

I want to like y-cam, but can’t.

I want to like y-cam, but it’s difficult. Having bought their cameras about five years ago, when “free recording for life” was advertised, I was disappointed when they backtracked in 2017 and started to charge for all cloud recordings. I’m only subscribing now as they sent me a cheap offer. With four cameras it’s too expensive at regular pricing so will use as a deterrent only. WiFi connectivity could be better, external cameras often disconnect randomly. But the worse thing is often the recording starts too late and finishes too early. So potentially useless for law enforcement anyway. I would avoid and go for a local DVR that’s records 24/7 which I will do once the contract expires.

quite good to assemble but with the non battery version it could with the grommet on the back plate to be mounted on the inside.
