New App all the old problems...

The original online system was bad enough, but having been forced to use a phone App to conduct my business banking it's just not good enough. I hoped things would improve but this company is so far behind in terms of decent online systems the new app is as unreliable as the previous online version and will frustrate you and let you down on a regualar basis. Do not Bank with YB unless you are a masochist, I am looking for a new Bank I have just had enough.

Just useless

Just useless. From what I can gather they have changed their online system and now despite 5 calls to their internet banking support I still can't do any online banking.

Put in a complaint and the reply to that is next to useless with no idea of when I will get a resolution.

If you get hit with the same issue then you'll get a message "Sorry, we're no longer able to assist you online"

To compound the problem YB's internet support staff tell you that they will escalate the problem to the technical team but they have been doing that for me for the last 3 weeks and you hear nothing.

UPDATE

Bearing in mind I've had a complaint open with YB for 3 weeks I finally managed to sort the problem out myself.

Firstly it seems they had a totally off the wall phone number for me. Then they corrected it and still got it wrong, then they corrected it again and got it wrong again. So today I asked them what number they had for me and when they read it back it was missing the area code :( Got the number correct which sorted the error msg on screen but didn't send me the code to log in.

Changed the number from the land land to a mobile (no mobile coverage at home) and had to log in at home then drive up the road to get the code. Great I get the code then come back to find that the internet session has timed out. Now if this security set up was any good the first code shouldn't have worked when I logged on again and it sent the code again, luckly the code was the same.

Now I've got to go through that crap every time I want to do any internet banking. RUBBISH Forcing a customer to have a mobile phone number for internet banking is pathetic.

EDIT> HERE WE GO AGAIN

So I'd just got used to taking a walk every time I wanted to use internet banking but today YB screwed my system up by insisting that I provide a password for Telephone banking as part of the login process and you guessed it the telephone banking code then needs a new texted password. So off I go to get it and come back to find I'm logged out and have to start the process again.

Support totally useless except to reiterate that there is nothing they can do about it.

So now for me internet banking with Yorkshire Bank is totally broken.

YB have made online banking almost impossible

For many years I was able to do online banking via a YB website on my PC though Firefox, Chrome or Internet Explorer Browsers. Now they are compelling people to use their smartphone/tablet app as a secondary verification to use that website. This simply isn't good enough. Nobody should be compelled to use a smartphone app to access their account details via a laptop or desktop PC. To make matters worse, the app installed on my android phone with Android 6 but not on my tablet with Android 7.0. The app says that it is not compatible with my version of Android and won't install. However, I upgraded the phone to Android 7.1.1 and it still works. That is ridiculous. If I get another phone, with Android 8 or 9, would it install with either of those? Potentially I could end up losing on line banking altogether. My first complaint to their customer services resulted in nothing being done. I lodged another, and as advised to upgrade Android, which in effect means buy another phone and give up the idea of running it on my tablet. I am certainly not going to buy an I phone just to get their app to enable me to do online banking via a PC. There are numerous complaints about inability to store the app on Google Playstore, Failure to reply promptly will mean my custom goes elsewhere.

Once a good solid bank, now a digital disaster

Once a good solid bank, now a disaster. Recent changes to security systems have created so many software problems, it now takes me 35 mins ON THE PHONE to a support agent to do one simple payment transaction. This is just one of many, many calls. The app doesn't work, the coding has bugs, the SMS text cannot be received, what did work previously no longer does. Five weeks or more (I have lost count) I have had no online or mobile access to my account, despite many calls to nice support agents. Formal complaint made 8 days ago. Still no further one. No access to account is completely unacceptable for modern banking. The time I have spent (and the poor support agents) is time I don't get paid for, time I don't have. Financial cost to me huge, and to the bank. If you are a shareholder, ditch the shares because operations are simply not fit for purpose.

Utterly Frustrated!

We have used the Yorkshire Bank for all of our business banking and some of our personal banking for over 20 years. We are so utterly frustrated with the constant changes to the online banking platforms and that new platforms are introduced without the 'gliches' ironed out first. To make it worse the online help desk are inconsistent with the quality of the advisors, sometimes quite knowledgeable and helpful and other times, you have to explain the situation time and time again. I cant begin to think about the many hours my colleagues and I have spent on the phone trying to sort problems out and this is far from ideal for a small business.

Honestly Not worth one star Morley Branch Leeds

Honestly less than one star. You are expected to know all codes wherever you are. My account blocked in Scotland no one can unblock it even when it tells you to ring 08004561247 they don’t know what to do with the code you are given to support your true identity on iPad. I was even sent to Clydesdale who they would not trust either to verify who I was. After over twenty years that’s it closing account going to Barclays. You can’t contact the branches on the phone and 08004561247 can not help you in any case. Total rubbish they would rather strand you with no cash

The worst login ever

I have been with Yorkshire Bank for many years. The app and online banking until recently were fine. Now they have introduced extra security combining the app when you log in to the desktop computer. This the worst system you would find in any bank. I have wasted unreasonable time with repeated attempts and this doesn't work even after advise by their team.

I have banked with the Yorkshire for over thirty years now.But now i am in the process of moving my account as i have had no internet banking for over a week now and just keep getting fobbed off with excuses from the staff.
As i am an expat i cant just pop into a branch to get a balance.
They have blocked my telephone banking as i had not used it for some time without notifying me.
Absolute rubbish bank now.

Dreadful Internet banking

I started to use online banking 3 years ago and for the past year or two it has been dire. Tried numerous times today to log into my account on my computer but it would not recognise my customer number. It forced me to input my name, address and date of birth only to take me back to the logging in screen and all that does is take me to a 'token' screen but my 'token' has not worked for 18 months. I had to create an online account with Northumbria Water to pay my water bill. Tried to phone them but gave up after half an hour. Dreadful bank and I have been a customer since the early 1980s. I will have to visit the bank tomorrow to sort it all out.

Spent 2 hrs on the phone today, 75% of that time on hold to try get this removed and been told it can take two to three days, when i need to do bank transfers today and tomorrow, diy bank nothing compared to the real ones, and worse now they have merged with virgin

Just to be clear this is by far the worst banking online/app service ever created period. 5 weeks on and took business banking 4 weeks to get me on line since then I have been locked out on a daily basis. Whoever signed off the IT / software needs sacking. It just doesn't work.... DO NOT even think about trying it!

Absolutely criminal

Absolutely criminal, this bank are corrupt.

I had direct debits set up on my account Fraudently, as a result I recieved charges on my account. Upon calling Yb I was told that the Direct Debits were to a PayPal account and a 3 mobile contract. I have never set up a Direct Debit with PayPal nor have I ever had an account with the 3 Network.

The Scottish man on the phone was utterly useless and could not care less about what had happened, he merely said I have a relarionship with PayPal (who doesn't) and as a result the charges remain, despite the apparent direct debit for £19.99 having gone from my bank twice in the past yet never appearing in my PayPal, nor matching any transactions.

This bank have been nothing but trouble since the start and show themselves to be a group that will take any and every excuse to charge your account, even when you are the victim of crime.

My advise, AVOID YBONLINE and Yorkshire Bank entirely, it amazes me that they can get away with such criminal and morally bancrupt activity

I have used business banking for more…

I have used business banking for more years than I care to remember. This is truly the worst service of any bank I have ever encountered. Even signing up took forever.

There is the odd member of staff that seems well trained, but, in my experience of the bank, they are mostly unhelpful. They almost seem to delight in putting obstacles in the way of getting my problem resolved.

My biggest gripe with the service is the online banking.
Its totally not fit for purpose. All I require is to be able to access my account online, with minimum fuss at times I require.

A significant amount of times when I simply log into my account I have an issue with getting access.

I then phone the helpline and hear the same message about security twice.
They then ask you a load of security questions before they ask you finally transfer you to an auto system to verify pin number.....Why?
If I log on on my phone its just a pin number so why do they need to know my life history (slight exaggeration!)

Then they ask me to repeat everything I have just done to get on line and finally they might reset it so I can log in...…

the last problem I had I was unable to log in for over 10 days. This is just not an acceptable service.

If you are looking for a reliable online service then I would seriously suggest that you avoid this bank.

UPDATE
I have just tried to log on and instead of just being able to input my passwords it's now asking me for debit card details, bank account sort code....then a text then it said there was an error and I had to repeat the procedure...….hey ho!

Having used all major banks in my 20…

Having used all major banks in my 20 years as an accountant I can honestly say Yorkshire Bank, and in particular their online services, are terrible. They mean well but just don't seem to know what they are doing. I got a new phone so needed to set my app back up - it asked for a reference number which I couldn't find. Rang them up and after numerous back and forth conversations the girl told me I had to complete an application form, same as we did when setting up the account, as they have introduced a new system for all new app users and the only way to use it is basically to start again. I am an existing customer with funds in their account but they are not able to help or provide anything other than a form which has to be posted in, and will take several weeks to process. Extremely lucky my co-director is still able to use his existing app to make payments. I am moving banks, won't return any time soon!

Online banking is bad

I must agree with others are say the online service is appalling. No way to truly reset password or details. Have tried logging in multiple times just to be met with Sorry, we're no longer able to assist you online, Please try again later. No indication of limited attempts and no indication of when I can try again

Also received a letter through the post saying I've being too much into an account when I haven't, called them to explain only to be told they can't help and wasn't sure why and I had to go into a branch, in which they are only open at silly non business friendly hours.

Probably the worlds worst bank

Avoid like the plague , even the complaints department lie . The online service is dire and changed without letting customers know ,using the excuse that “emails were sent out” not to myself or my wife and they do have current email addresses.
If you want a reliable online service try another bank
