Great products and a customer care I have never seen elsewhere

Two weeks ago I had never heard of this company, mostly because I'm new to the world of proper rice cooking. I started off by buying their Bamboo rice cooker and was so amazed by the result that I eventually went all in and bought nearly all of their accessories, a hot water dispenser and a cookbook. Every item I bought, the rice washing bowl, the storage containers, the Iku mug, the hardback cookbook and of course the rice cooker is of very high quality, was packaged with care and got delivered in 2-3 days. That whole experience was great but it's not the reason I'm writing this review.

I did receive a faulty unit when I first ordered the rice cooker (the quick cook program worked and produced amazing rice but the menu button for selecting programs didn't) and that is actually what eventually made me go crazy and order everything else, because I have never seen a company care this much about its reputation and its customers at this level before. Earlier when I researched which rice cooker to buy I saw that YumAsia representatives are replying on forums, review sites, YouTube, you name it. They post useful tips, clear up confusion about features, models and general usage and reach out to people who might have issues with their products. And they have done so for years! I'm a tech nerd and I can tell you that the apple company and others don't do that, nor do most brands in home electronics and kitchen appliances.

So, when I got my faulty rice cooker I thought about shipping it back to amazon but decided to send in a ticket to YumAsia. Three days later I received a new rice cooker and as a bonus I was told to not send back the faulty one but to keep the bowl and accessories as spares. So I guess I'm stuck with an awesome rice cooker for life now.

I've never written a product review before but this experience, funnily enough because I happened to get a faulty unit, combined with the fact that they actually try to be pro-active and seem to be everywhere to reach out to customers, is frankly amazing to me. In an age where companies are harder and harder to reach this was truly refreshing.

Replacement product when error occurred

I had my rice cooker for nearly a year, when some technical issue appeared. I sent video of the problem, within 2-3 days had a replacement product on the way. Was worried how it will be resolved on long distance, but absolutely satisfied. Thank you.

Quick delivery

Quick delivery. Good communication from Louise who replied to my many questions and with such friendliness. I just bought some spares from their website to make sure the Panda keeps going strong for years to come. Just needed to tell them my order number first to get them which was no big deal. It reassures me knowing that Yum Asia protect their brand and products whilst being equally passionate about rice cooking and customer satisfaction.

Who would have thought that I would…

Who would have thought that I would need another kitchen appliance but it turns out that this is actually one of those gadgets that is now essential. It got me eating more rice and cooking other things such as soups , casseroles and cakes! I threw out my old slow cooked and rubbish glass lid rice cooker to swap it for this. I now honestly see why a saucepan just don't do the job - well nowhere near as easily.

Ugh really wish I never ordered…

Ugh really wish I never ordered directly from them. If you are going to have an online only business then at least make it easy for people to make exchanges and returns. This company is living in the 1990s - I bought the Kumo and on receiving it's a lot smaller than I was expecting. I wanted to change for the £50 more expensive Sakura, but have been told that I have to pay £15 to return the Kumo and a long email about how I'm responsible and liable for returns etc etc etc. Wish I never bought it.

Hello, we understand your concerns, and we’d like to clarify our return process for you.

As we mentioned in our previous email, we do not offer exchanges due to the complexity of managing additional invoices and creating new orders. We’ve found that the return and refund process, followed by placing a new order, is much smoother and easier for everyone involved. This is a common practice among many online retailers.

In response to your review, we’d like to reassure you that we are not charging you for the return itself. According to the Consumer Rights Act 2015, we are required to clearly outline the return process and any associated costs, which we did in our email. We mentioned the approximate cost of using Parcelforce, as this is the courier that the majority of customers have easy access to, but we also provided more affordable options with parcel brokers, which you are free to explore.

Since your return is due to a change of mind, we do kindly ask that the customer covers the shipping cost. This is clearly explained on our returns page, and is a common policy for many retailers. As our products are larger and heavier (typically over 4kg), the shipping costs are higher compared to smaller items, but we strive to offer transparent and helpful guidance on all costs.

Our returns policy is available on our website, and we’re always here to help if you need advice before making a purchase. Our customer support team is happy to assist you in selecting the right product to ensure it meets your needs.

Damage spout on water dispenser…

I purchased a Yum Asia water dispenser less than six months ago, and I am disappointed to find that the spout is peeling. What I initially believed to be stainless steel appears to be plastic covered with silver foil, which is now deteriorating.

I have attempted to submit a request through your contact form; however, despite filling in all required fields, I continuously receive an error stating that something is missing. Additionally, I have been unable to find a contact number to reach your support team directly.

Waste of money and super disappointing

Waste of money and super disappointing
Bought a Yum Asia Tsuki Minicuiseur.
Upon reception, first plugged in the light and connection were not working to my view working adequately. I contacted Yum Asia, and the reply that my kitchen is too bright to properly see the light panel...
Few months down the line, the Yum Asia has neber worked properly, only one programs starts from time to time and it has as today completely stopped working.
I understand sometimes a product is faulty but what counts is how the manufacturer and brand address the issue . Yum Asia did not address the problem, the rice cooker is hardly 6 Months old and is good for the recycling bin.

Amazing product and customer service

I have loved my YumAsia Tsuki rice cooker ever since I bought it, it is an amazing product! Last month, I experienced their wonderwul customer service as well - my Tsuki malfunctioned, and when I wrote them, they replied within 12 hours, assisted me, and in the end, sent me a replacement Tsuki for free to my delivery address, which arrived within a week.

Highly recommend this company!

Bamboo UMAI Induction rice maker

Bamboo UMAI Induction rice maker, the best way to prepare rice. I use it almost every day, rice is perfectly prepared as it should be. When I bought the device, I noticed that one rubber base was missing, I wrote to yum-asia support and within a few days I received a package with two rubbers. I highly recommend the device and contacting support.

Overpriced for no quality & terrible customer service

I’ve been using rice cookers for years—both cheap and expensive models—and never had issues like I did with the Yum Asia Sakura. I bought this thinking I was upgrading to a premium product. Instead, I got an expensive rice cooker that turned rice dry, clumpy, and inedible when using the ‘keep warm’ function - the latter wouldn't keep it fresh even for half an hour. A basic student rice cooker we bought for our oldest child at uni works better than this!

When I contacted customer service, it became clear they weren’t interested in fixing the issue—just blaming me. Please read their replies to other people's negative reviews on this thread and you'll see the tone. Instead of acknowledging the problem, they kept stalling with endless, condescending questions and statements suggesting I'm not following their instructions regarding measuring or the kind of rice.

But here's the thing, I followed every instruction to the letter. I used a popular, widely sold type of white basmati rice, NOT marked on the package as 'pre-boiled' (although their customer service told me later that according to them it was), carefully measured the rice and water, rinsed it as directed, used the correct settings, and even tested different variations, once it was clear something's not working. The problem wasn’t me—it was the product. But still I was told the issue was my fault: my rice, and that keeping “too little” rice warm would inevitably dry it out—even though I followed their measuring instructions exactly.

Instead of making life easier, this high-end rice cooker requires more effort than cooking on the stove! What’s the point?

After weeks of back-and-forth, they finally agreed to a return—but withheld 20% of my refund for no real reason, just saying they tested it, and it works fine. No real explanation, just a shady excuse to keep part of my money.

Had I bought this on Amazon, I may have had an easy, full refund. But I ordered directly from Yum Asia in good faith to support their business. Big mistake. Instead of standing behind their product, they made returning it a nightmare and penalised me for their poor design.

If you want a rice cooker that actually works, buy from a company that doesn’t blame the customer and play games with refunds. Stay away from this brand.

Hi Magda, thank you for sharing your feedback. We would like to address your concerns and clarify the situation.

As we mentioned in our previous emails (and as outlined in the warranty card and user manual), our process for handling issues starts with troubleshooting. This involves asking specific questions to help identify and resolve the problem efficiently. In most cases, this step helps us correct issues without the need for returns. We rely on the information provided by customers to guide this process, which is why detailed responses are so important.

In your review, you mentioned that we showed no interest in resolving the issue, and in your emails, you expressed frustration, feeling that we were stalling. Please know that was never our intention. Our goal was to understand the problem fully, which required specific details beyond general statements like 'I followed every instruction'. These details are crucial for us to provide effective support.

Regarding the timeline, your first email reached us on January 1st, and we responded promptly on January 2nd (as our office was closed for New Year’s Day). We had several exchanges between then and January 5th, after which we didn’t receive a reply until January 11th. At that time, we again requested the necessary information to assist you and even offered to test the Sakura unit ourselves. You responded on January 14th, and we immediately provided a prepaid return label. We received the unit on January 22nd and began testing it thoroughly, which does take some time to ensure accuracy.

While we understand this process may have felt lengthy, we hope this timeline helps clarify that we acted promptly at each step. We also outlined our returns policy on January 11th to ensure transparency. As stated, if we had found a fault with the Sakura during testing, you would have received a full refund. Since no fault was identified, we issued a refund minus a 20% fee, as the unit was used and cannot be resold. Additionally, we covered the return shipping costs for you.

For reference, our return policy aligns with Amazon’s policies regarding used items. When Amazon receives a returned unit that’s been used and claimed as faulty, they send it to us for evaluation. If no fault is found, Amazon may adjust the refund accordingly.

We genuinely regret any frustration this situation has caused and appreciate your understanding. Our goal is always to provide fair, thorough support to our customers.

Worst company I have ever had to dealt…

Worst company I have ever had to dealt with. Had problems with their rice cooker since day one, I have been reporting issues via email- photos of very badly cooked rice, video of leaking water at the back of the cooker. They told me to try different cooking method and report back so I did, sent pictures again and all. After three days and 5 attempts to cook rice I asked for a return for refund. They said since its used I will be charged and I was offered just partial refund. They said they will test the cooker and if its faulty they would give full refund so I sent it back. Ofcourse they reported they did tests and nothing wrong with the rice cooker, horrible customer service, avoid at all costs!!! I have sent videos showing how water is leaking at the back, I have followed their instructions to cook the rice several times, wasted over 1kg of rice for tests. At the end they say there is nothing wrong with the product and they offered 80% refund plus accused me that I havent sent a ladle and spatula back saying they should really charge me for missing accesories aswell! Everything was sent back and ladle and spatula were packed in separate bubble wrap inside the box! Horrible horrible company I have lost 20£ as they state there is no issue with a product so only partial refund was given even though I have sent loads of evidence since the day I got this cooker Never in my life have I had such a bad experience!! I feel ripped off and 20£ taken from my refund Never again!!!

Hi Aleksandra, we’d like to take this opportunity to clarify the steps we took to address your concerns regarding the performance of your Panda rice cooker.

When you first contacted us, we worked closely with you to troubleshoot the issue. While we requested additional details to better understand the problem — such as the type of rice you were using and specific measurements — we received limited information, including two photos of overcooked rice and one photo of water on your countertop. Unfortunately, without more detailed evidence like videos or comprehensive descriptions, it was challenging to diagnose the issue accurately.

We also noted some inconsistencies regarding the rice measurements you provided, which made it difficult to determine if the issue was related to the appliance or the preparation process. Despite this, we asked you to perform some tests to help narrow down the cause.

When you requested to return the rice cooker, we explained our return policy, which applies to new and unused items. However, in good faith and to ensure your concerns were thoroughly addressed, we provided a prepaid return label and agreed to test the unit upon receipt. We also appreciated the rice sample you included for testing.

Our engineering team conducted multiple tests using the rice you provided, as well as premium Hom Mali jasmine and basmati rice. The results showed that the rice cooked properly, and there were no issues with leaking. The cooker performed as expected with all rice types tested. Based on these results, we concluded that the appliance was functioning correctly.

Despite the extensive testing and the absence of any faults, we processed a refund for your order, deducting 20% (£18.98) as per our policy for used items. We did not charge for the return shipping or the missing spatula and spoon, though we were entitled to do so.

We understand your frustration, and we genuinely regret that this experience did not meet your expectations. Our goal was always to assist you in resolving the issue, and our customer service team remained professional and courteous throughout.

Very good product and customer service

After almost 2 years of trouble-free use, my Kumo had a sensor problem (“E2” displayed on the screen), these things happen, there's nothing you can do. I created a ticket on the Yum Asia website. The same day, Louise got back to me and asked me to carry out various operations, but to no avail. She then offered to send me a new Kumo, with nothing to send on my side.

Thank you Louise for your efficiency and kindness, and thank you Yum Asia for your impeccable customer service. Despite this small incident, which can happen, I will remain a loyal customer of the brand in the future.

Amazing Product, Fantastic Customer Service

I recently purchased a Panda Rice cooker and some other items to help prepare and cook dishes with it. Everything arrived quickly and well packaged. Unfortunately the rice cooker had a fault, these things happen. I emailed customer support after going through their helpful troubleshooting, the rice cooker was not able to be fixed. So Yum Asia arranged for a whole new rice cooker to be sent to me that arrived the next day. This one worked perfectly and I have had several rice and steamed vegetable meals now and it has been amazing. What was even more useful is that they recommended sending the faulty rice cooker to electrical recycling and to keep any spare parts for my working one. This has been very useful as it is now used so much in my household. Overall fantastic product, amazing customer service and a company that has been a pleasure to shop and interact with.

Authentic and tasty

After a visit to Malaysia, I wanted to up my rice cooking skills. This rice cooker was the answer. Perfect rice every time every day. I also bought the Greedy Panda cookbook and have had so many perfectly authentic tasting meals. Buy them both your life will change, your tastebuds will tingle and it doesn’t take forever to cook. Straightforward and authentic food without the time and money to travel, in your own home
I cannot recommend the cooker and the book highly enough.

Terrible customer service

Their customer service is shocking. I bought the rice cooker from them directly so they have no excuses about anyone else being responsible for the scratched and damaged bowls. I sent them pictures with the damage clearly visible but they say they can’t see any damage. I pointed it out again and was totally blanked. No response. What’s worse is that the review I gave them on their own site is no longer there. Seems they removed it because it was negative.
