AA’s NCD Policy: Unfair and Disappointing for Customers

I’m disappointed with AA’s policy on No Claims Discount (NCD). In 2023, my NCD stated in the renewal letter from AA was 17 years. I didnt renew and chose to go with AXA for 2 years, and returned to AA in 2025. Now, in my latest renewal letter, my NCD has been reduced to 9 years, despite the fact I’ve been claims free for 19 years (soon to be 20).

I was with AXA for 2 years in between and made no claims during that time. Yet AA refuses to recognise those years and still caps my NCD at 9.

It’s disappointing because car insurance comparison sites accept NCDs of 20 years or more, meaning drivers who have been claims free for longer get better deals. Meanwhile, AA customers like me are unfairly capped. This is completely unacceptable and needs to change.

Hi Mo, if you're able to get an NCD letter showing 19 years from your previous insurer, AXA, for the two years you stayed with them, we may be able to manually issue a letter showing 20 years from when you returned to the AA. Most insurers cap their NCD at 9 years, but some will manually update it to reflect your full claims‑free history.
