Think twice before buying a kitchen from wren!
I don't usually write reviews but our purchase from wren has left us feeling very let down and left with a product far from the quality we expected.
We went in to the wren showroom in Doncaster just after Christmas and instantly fell in love with the autograph charcoal gloss designer kitchen, the salesman gave us a quick upfront estimate and we went home to think about it, we then booked a design appointment and went ahead and purchased the kitchen through the scunthorpe store , the upfront estimate was approx £2000 under the actual cost but after some haggling we managed to get our dream kitchen within the price we had originally had been told, we paid a 10% deposit and the remainder of the balance would be due 1 year after we had received the kitchen and we're happy with it, so we were told...
the kitchen arrived in good time but then the trouble started, 5 of the units arrived with damage to them, we sent photo's to the 'claims assessment' team and they arranged to replace the units, but also a lot of the doors had chips in the gloss paint, they sent a company called 'ecomaster' round and he touched the chips up with some paint, not ideal but in fairness he made a very good job, except 1 door that he said was too bad to repair so he said he would report back to wren claims assessment and they would replace, which he never did, so I had to chase the claims assessment about, a few days later the door arrived but they sent the wrong size, so again I had to call them up and go through the motions ( I am still waiting for that door now) the finance company sent a letter to say the year of interest free had started already, even though the kitchen wasn't finished, I called the scunthorpe branch and the manager said that it only starts when you are happy with the kitchen if you use the wren fitter, as we used an independent kitchen fitter then it starts soon as its delivered, which isn't what we were told when we purchased the kitchen..
2 weeks after fitting the valve started to leak on the Delphi shower tap, I contacted wren who said the taps are made by an external company , I contacted them and they have sent me a new valve for the tap but I now need to get a plumber back in to replace it which will be at my expense
It's now a month after the kitchen was delivered and it still isn't complete.
My biggest concern now is the paint finish on the doors, as the paint is very very thin around the edges and on some doors/ draws it has already started to chip away, I can't see this kitchen lasting 2 years let alone 20 years, I have expressed my concerns to wren claims assessment but they say any faults will be repaired by the warranty, I do get the impression that they are aware of this issue with this type of charcoal gloss finish kitchen but still sell it.
All in all , I feel that we have been left with a cheap low end product when we expected a lot more. My advice to others would be to think very carefully before buying from wren as you could be left feeling very let down. Disappointing
In reply to your response to your reply I would like a representative to contact me to arrange a visit to discuss the issues I have with the kitchen
Update...
Wren agreed to replace all the frontals, they have come to swap all these today, the fitters they sent have opened all the boxes to find the new 'double checked' frontals are as bad condition as the ones they were removing, after 2 hours they have given up..this company is a joke. Save yourself a lot of hassle and go elsewhere. Do not be fooled
Now we are waiting for the 3rd set of frontals, wren clearly have an ongoing fault with the gloss charcoal grey kitchen paint finish, it has completely ruined our experience of having a new kitchen, not to mention our house has been cluttered up with doors/ wren boxes for over 2 months. It's beyond a joke !!!!!! Do not buy from Wren
Another update.
New frontals were supposed to be getting fitted today. Took the day off work, expecting the fitters to be here to put an end to this mess, no fitters arrived by 10am so rang wren store, the frontals are not even ready yet! So yet another day off work wasted. It's been 3 months now and there's no end in site.
Another update
The last set of frontals still have issues, paint is chipping off all over the place, yet they have only been fitted a few weeks. Please do not buy from this place !!! I have now contacted Barclays and raised a section 75 claim as I no longer can deal with this outfit. I have also contacted bbc's watchdog . What a terrible company
The last lot of frontals , fitted 02/06/15 the paint is wearing through on leading edges, chipped in areas and the doors they fitted are rubbing against the end panels. The 'directors office' don't seem to respond to my emails either
