Fraud
Complete con, auto renewal fraud .On their webpage there is now an auto renewal clause but I checked my original email with all the agreement documents and section 8 is not there nor is there any mention of auto renewal. They have covertly taken payments for several years. Avoid Avoid Avoid .
Please do not use this company
Please do not use this company. I cancelled my subscription in August 2021 after awful service (at every step of the way - they even towed my car away to a garage they apparently hadn't told they were taking it to - I promptly had my car returned). Just now, I had a renewal notice saying they would automatically renew my subscription if I didn't say otherwise. When I got in touch, I had a minimal response saying I hadn't replied to an email they sent, hence the renewal email. I had to find and send my bank statement from last year to show them that I had paid their £9.99 cancellation fee. I am ready for them to still get in touch with me next year - again. Please, do not use this company.
Sly, deceitful company
Same as everyone else who has reviewed below. Disgraceful sly company.
Terrible company
Took out breakdown insurance for one year (2018) and then cancelled. Have been receiving e-mails saying that renewal will be automatically done every year since, despite advising Action Call that I have cancelled. Now I live in constant fear that they will renew without advising me and I won't discover it until my credit card statement comes. Do these people never give up!
Appalling customer service
Never had need to use the breakdown service itself but customer service is appalling. Apparently Action Call no longer operates as a separate brand - now under Dynamo Cover - but renewal email I received was from Action Call, with link to that website which was broken. Spoke to a very unpleasant customer services person who said the renewal quote wasn't valid and I would have to pay more for worse cover. When I queried it I was basically told to go elsewhere if I wasn't happy. Didn't need telling twice. I have!
Still no reply over a data breach via…
Still no reply over a data breach via your action call breakdown run by the same address as dynamo cover, same email as dynamo and same CEO Alex Mills. I have forwarded you the email trial of a third party intercepting your emails to me, enclosing a document that wasn’t from you and enclosed a virus which came from the email trail you previously sent? The email came from the email trail that you previously sent me, but intercepted by another email address, (third party) I’ve emailed no response and even emailed Alex Mills CEO’s direct email address for a response but still no response so the Information Commissioner's Office have been sent the evidence and I will liaise with them. When you think you cancelled and got rid of this company last year and your details are compromised by a hacker! Contact me if you want the emails I sent again just in case you blame Covid and had missed them as I will be glad to forward these to you with the third party’s incepted email with my personal details, oh and the virus file attached. Cheers!
Struggling to cancel my re-renewel.
Struggling to cancel my re-renewel.
No one answers emails, no one answers phones... and here's the amazing bit....
Following the URL to cancel renewel takes you to a 404. If you go to your policy through your account the link takes you to a 404 too.
PLEASE CANCEL MY GOD-DAMN COVER - How on earth do you do it?!
Pirates Ahoy!
Surely this is a scam? They have sent me an email saying that they will automatically renew my policy unless I tell them not to. I don't have a policy with them, they don't answer the phone and the email link invites me to register my account.
Con Artists
They deliberately use tactics to obscure renewal, and then ramp up prices. Their general approach to customer service is dishonest. Don't use, not cheaper by the time they are done with you.
Can't understand the poor reviews
Can't understand the poor reviews. Have called them out twice and they have been fantastic! Well worth the money.
AVOID THIS SCAMMERS!!!!!
AVOID THIS SCAMMERS!!!!!
They claim to send a renewal notice but they did not. Then taken out another year payment. When contacted just said there is fee to cancel the policy which is equally to payment taken. No cooling off period or anything. Simply cheat.
AVOID THIS SCAMMERS FOR YOUR PEACE OF MIND
THEY DID NOT DESERVE EVEN THIS STAR I HAD TO PUT ON TO ADD MY FEEDBACK
Wouldn’t even give them 1 star but it…
Wouldn’t even give them 1 star but it wouldn’t let me enter a review without a star being awarded.
Everything that other reviewers have said is true. They claim to send you a renewal notice which you don’t receive, and then take a fee for another annual renewal without you consenting. When you try to cancel it, they say you’re out of the 14 day period and can only cancel with an admin fee (£6.99). What a way to get £6.99 from all of your previous customers without them agreeing to it!!! Appalling and unethical practices. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS!!!
Feels like a scam
Feels like a scam. Was informed I could not transfer a newly purchased car to the cover so cancelled over the phone - ever other provider I have used seems to offer this. My cover was then "automatically" renewed this year without any notice to me and when I cancelled the renewal was charged £9.99.
Scam
Poor service. Feels like a scam!
Cancelled auto renewal as soon as policy started however company still renewed and charged fees outside of T&C.
DO NOT USE ACTION-CALL - snakes!
Call out
I called them out around 8pm mid-week and got a phone call within 20 mins. They arrived shortly after 20-25mins, less than the expected 40-60mins (or whatever they state). The guy seemed friendly enough, but I was disappointed that he didn't give me more information. He seemed quite happy to guess that the issue was with the gearbox oil and just tow the car without attempting any roadside assistance. He didn't even lift the bonnet to inspect the car.
I like other customer's got my policy automatically renewed when I didn't want to (I like to shop around).
Overall: Probably 2.5 stars
Speedy service and solid phone support. However, bad auto renewal service, better onsite professionalism
Shame I cant give zero stars
Shame I cant give zero stars. No renewal email come through to cancel and took money out my account without me knowing until an email come through saying thank you for your renewal. Steer very clear from this company.
Terrible Company, avoid.
After a previously bad experience when taking out the cover, I vowed never to renew with them again at the end of my policy. My policy is due to expire in May 2020. I emailed ActionCall early April to ask them to cancel the renewal and remove any payment details from their systems. This was confirmed by them on 7th April 2020. Today I received an email saying my policy was due to renew, it would auto renew and payment would be taken and if I didn't want to renew then all I had to do was to click the link provided to cancel. Needless to say the link doesn't work and my most recent policy isn't even showing. I have advised that if policy is renewed and payment taken I will report to the relevant regulating body and report the payment as fraudulent. Avoid this company at all costs.
Useless for the first month
I purchased breakdown cover from Action Call and unfortunately 21 days later my car battery went flat in a retail park, so I called breakdown and was told because I held the policy for less than 30 days I would have to pay £125 call out charge. I've never had to call break down before was shocked at the customer service. Fortunately I was near to a Halfords store who were happy to help me at no charge.

Below is my review for Dynamo Services - they are effectively the same company though so I felt it purposeful to leave a copy on both their TrustPilot pages...
The WORST company I've ever had to deal with.
This really is the worst company I've ever had to deal with. They auto-renewed without notifying me. Claimed they'd sent an email which I hadn't received. I checked everywhere junk/spam too. I was able to locate the original one from a year ago mind you as well as the receipt for my payment to them. This was nearly double my original premium. They wanted to charge an 8.99 cancellation fee - I contacted them the same day of payment - because it's just so hard to press a button right? It actually speaks volumes about this company that if you cancel after the 14 day period they DO NOT refund your premium at all and charge you £9.99. Confused.com? Yeah I was too infact all comparison sites should take Dynamo Cover/Action Call off their sites. I managed through some emails to "negotiate" the cancellation fee to £6.99. Woop woop - 2 quid.
I've got my partial refund now and put a block on the company which if you are tempted to use them...(it seems the service is okay if you need to use them) then it could be a reasonable value - because it will stop them helping themselves to your bank balance.
They will probably reply saying I agreed to this in the T&Cs...terrible clause indeed. However, in their own terms, they state they should inform you 21 days before. With that email that didn't turn up yeah? Additionally, I found some T&Cs stating I would receive a letter to my home address confirming this. When I put this to the customer service representative, Chelsea, she said I opted for email communication only. I'd say that was a cop out. You choose your marketing preferences on compare the market. I usually leave the post anyway and this is probably a made-up excuse. Even if I did opt out of post marketing though surely a renewal isn't marketing though? It's a key document that you should get sent - they defo had my address for cover purposes too. They also had my mobile number so could have used that - which TESCO/Admiral have done for me in the past. It is the honest thing to do. Clearly this company makes its buck of sneaky renewals and cancellation fees which for some will lead to bounced payments on cards and current accounts causing financial difficulty. I hope Chelsea and the team around her are happy doing this.
On my behalf, the citizen's advice service has referred this to Trading Standards in Wales. I'm very pleased to hear my review and the others here on TrustPilot have given them grounds to investigate.
Stephen David Jenkins and Alexander William Mills should seriously consider the impacts of how they run the business. Its a small tweak, I don't mind auto-renewal that's fine it ensures you are not without cover if you need it, they just need to ensure they are given proper notification in an email that gets sent at least, a text and letter more ideally. I'd be happy to pay a cancellation fee then and wouldn't be so angry. Most of the reviews on here then would be positive and about the service they provide, which most of the positive reviews on here are about.
Absolute shower of a company
Absolute shower of a company. A rude and unreliable circus.
I called them out, they claimed I didn't have a policy. They refused to send anyone unless I paid £90! I had my policy documents with me on paper and electronically but that wasn't good enough for them. They called me three days later now claiming that I had a policy and if I still needed assistance. No apology or compensation was issued and most of the staff I dealt with were amongst the most cantankerous clowns I've ever had the misfortune to deal with. Avoid at all costs.
