Rob was extremely helpful when I called to enquire about holidays to the Maldives. He listened to what I wanted, explained everything clearly, and shared his own experience of staying at the resort, which was very reassuring. I’ve paid my deposit and will be sending the remaining balance this week. Great service, highly recommend!

Absolute shambles of a company.
Kept changing our flights, at last minute to, the flight back got changed couple days before we were due to fly, we apparently were expected to land in UK a day before we departed Zanibar!!! And admin could not see this? We will never use Away Holidays again, they were blaming the air line (Kenya Airways) and like wise, we feel they do this because the flights are cheaper for them, no reimbursement to us even though we paid extra for decent timings because having children (even though the flights were stupid hours). Joe who i dealt with on the telephone had a little attitude on occasions & communication was appalling. My advice would be to stay clear of this company.

Very poor support from Away Holidays when things went wrong
We booked a package holiday to the Maldives through Away Holidays, including flights and an overwater pool villa. Unfortunately, when serious problems arose, the lack of support and responsibility from Away Holidays was extremely disappointing.
On arrival, the overwater pool villa we had booked was misleadingly described. It was not located out in the ocean as shown in promotional images, but instead on a side path with no sea access and clear signage stating no swimming in that area. This completely undermines the purpose of booking this type of villa.
The situation then became far worse when we discovered used female underwear with a sanitary pad and pubic hair left in the room, along with a strong unpleasant smell. This was a serious hygiene failure and extremely distressing.
We contacted Away Holidays during our stay, speaking to a representative (the hotel manager also spoke to them directly). We were told the issue would be followed up — however, we never received any further contact or assistance.
The following day (which was my partner’s birthday), we were forced to move rooms, but only to downgraded accommodation options. By this point, two days of a five-night holiday had been lost dealing with issues that should never have happened.
The hotel offered two additional nights as a gesture for the lost time. However, when we asked Away Holidays for help adjusting our return, we were told that changing our British Airways flight would cost around £2,900. We were also advised that a “cheaper option” would be to abandon the BA flight we had already paid for and instead book a new Emirates flight with a longer stopover — at our own expense.
This was not a voluntary change. The extra nights were offered because the holiday we paid for was not delivered properly. Asking customers to pay thousands of pounds to make use of compensation is unreasonable.
Most concerning was that Away Holidays refused to take responsibility, repeatedly stating there was nothing they could do and directing us back to the hotel to arrange compensation ourselves — despite this being a package holiday booked through them.
Instead of receiving support from our travel provider, we were left to manage a stressful situation ourselves while on holiday.
Given the cost of the trip and the special occasion we were celebrating, the lack of ownership and customer care from Away Holidays has been extremely disappointing. I would strongly advise anyone considering booking with them to think carefully about how issues may be handled if something goes wrong.
