Unfortunate Mistake?

Was informed that I owed $127 more than my purchased shipping label due to the carrier's automated scanning indicated a 1-inch difference in shipment box depth and width. I used a bike store recommended on your website who provided the box dimensions to me used to purchase your label. I suggest you advise your recommended bike stores and/or that your company advise your shipping label purchasers to double check and take pictures of the measurements. I could not dispute the oversize measurements as I had no pictures and was not aware of the sensitivity of small measurement changes to total shipping costs until this unfortunate error. Thank you for your time.

Shipping charges are based on the dimensions entered at the time of label creation. Carriers such as UPS may independently scan and re-measure packages during transit, and even small differences (including 1 inch) can result in dimensional rating adjustments based on their published pricing rules.

We do want to note that we provide guidance in multiple places to round up all measurements when entering box dimensions, as well as to take photos of the packed dimensions. These steps are important because they are also what allow us to successfully dispute carrier adjustments when measurement differences are flagged.

In situations where photo documentation is not available, the carrier will not typically accept a dispute, even if the difference appears minor.

We appreciate your feedback and will continue working to make these requirements as clear as possible for customers and retail partners.

Good: The shipping was awesome and the price…

The shipping was awesome and the price was great compared to shipping directly through FedX, UPS or similar. Package arrived a couple days earlier than expected, undamaged!! Unfortunately, 3rd party carrier disputed package dimensions and wanted to charge an extra $70. I sent pics clearly showing package dimensions as originally stated and bike shipping said they’d cover the overage. That makes no sense!!!

Jacked up price saying the box was too…

Jacked up price saying the box was too big. Despite sending pictures of measurements per their request of their standards that show the measurements were LESS than what I paid for. They tried to make me pay an extra $90, and after they saw the pics tried to settle and offered to pay 1/2.

To clarify, all shipment charges are initially based on the dimensions entered at the time of booking. After pickup, UPS may conduct independent dimensional audits. If their measured dimensions differ from what was submitted, they apply adjustments according to their published rating structure, which can result in additional charges.

When a dispute is submitted, we work with the carrier to review any supporting documentation provided. In cases where photos of the packed dimensions are shared and meet verification requirements, we can escalate those details directly with UPS for review. In your case, we did review the information provided and attempted to work toward a resolution with the carrier based on the documentation available.

Incredible follow up

Incredible follow up. The bike shop that I had packing the bike and using as the pick up location where a little slow. Your team followed up with the bike shop, and helped facilitate the process

Awesome!

The website was straightforward, instructions including alternatives were clear, and the shipping service was exceptional. We looked at alternatives as this was the first time shipping a bike and landed on Bikesflights. Look no further. Couldn't be happier with what we were trying to do and how it came about.

Great experience

Great experience. Dropped off on Monday arrived on Friday across country. I managed to somehow twist hanger even though the back wheel stayed on and the box was not damaged.
