I suffered a front tyre blowout on the M56 entry slip road last Thursday 30th April 2026. My call was answered immediately by call-handler Fiona who was both pleasant, efficient and reassuring. A reco... See more

Mechanic couldn’t fix our car and said he would call a recovery truck but failed to do so. After another 3 hours we called to check progress and were told no truck had been called and we should have done it. We were told several times that the recovery truck was 40 minutes away but nothing arrived. Eventually we left the keys in a nearby cafe and managed to get a lift home. The car was eventually recovered 29 hours after our initial call. I don’t think I’m being unreasonable in thinking a 29 hour wait is completely unacceptable.
To give a bit of context, I left the RAC last December because they took 7 hours to recover my car, one hour of that with their recovery truck sat in front of me and the driver eating his lunch. They offered me half price membership to stay with them but even that didn’t seem worth it for a poor service and Britannia had lots of good reviews. Looking back on the RAC’s 7 hours makes it look like the good old days.
My electric VW Up suffered a jammed cable in the charge port when homecharging. (Unfortunately not an unusual event apparently) They tried to say the fault was the cable 'an accessory' (it was the car) and then that it wasn't a breakdown. (Car won't move). All other roadside assistance orgs have reports of them coming out to similar events.
I complained. They promised a call back from a manager within 5 days.
2 weeks later still waiting!
The service has exceeded my expectation for speed of answering the phone, arranging help, understanding my circumstances (I had a disabled husband with me when we broke down) and getting me and the vehicle home whilst making sure my husband could get a lift as he couldn't get in the truck
Brilliant service from start to finish.
Recovery truck reached me just 80 minutes after contacting Britannia Rescue (was told probably 2 hours)
The two call handlers I spoke with were both professional and reassuring.
As a lone female on an unlit country road at night, I was checked on and kept informed by phone calls and text messages until the breakdown truck arrived.
Recovery driver was helpful and chatty, which was calming after being stranded on my own. He also took care when loading/unloading my 16 year old car.
Highly recommend them for breakdown services.
Everyone I dealt with was professional, polite and knowledgeable. They made the entire experience of the car breakdown less stressful. I would highly recommend this company.
I just wanted to give credit to Britannia Rescue for a first-rate experience. My call for assistance was answered immediately and within minutes I was given the name of the agent attending and a link to track their progress. It takes a lot of stress out of the situation when you have a map view of where your recovery agent is and their ETA. The agent himself was polite and helpful.
This was my first use of Brittania and the service was outstanding. The first contact person was knowledgeable, competent, caring and pleasant. The rescue truck arrived within an hour. Being an elderly disabled person it was a stressful situation but they made me feel reassured that I would be taken care of and I was.
Broke down in Manchester (we're from Scotland) called and spoke to a great handler who said it would be between 1 and 2 hours to et to us, SIX HOURS later someone arrived. Luckily the engine would work as it was a gearbox fault, but imagine if we were on the hard shoulder of the motorway and the engine wouldnt start for heat? Once they arrived all went well as they had to get us home on a relay (3 different companies worked together). Apart from the first one taking 6 hours the rest went really well and the communication from the call handlers was first class.
Absolutely amazing breakdown company! Couldn’t fault them at all, first time breaking down on a dual carriageway, police had to block a line for me and my baby to get out the car. From the well fair checks to getting a recovery van out to me in 45 minutes in rush hour traffic! Honestly couldn’t Thankyou you enough!
had to call britannia rescue as my car was not starting.
i live rurally and depend only on my car for transport.
from the moment of logging the call to the departure of the rescue agent who solved the problem (flat battery), the service was nothing short of superb!
one couldn't ask for more.
very warmly recommended.
Agent kept in touch with me with regular updates because of the time limit before security gates would close preventing any further access in or out of the premises.
My sons tyre had been slashed while in his college car park. After contacting brittania rescue a group of 10 youths surrounded his car while he was inside rocking and kicking it. The rescue truck arrived within 10 mins and the agent ensured my sons safety and made sure he got along on his way after changing his wheel.
This service was above and beyond and I cannot recommend this company enough.
I was left wondering what the point of having the 'breakdown' insurance was. My 93-year-old mother called out Britannia Rescue as her battery was flat. Basically, the 'mechanic' told her that her battery was flat (or perhaps the alternator was broken) and that she'd have to book it into a garage to get it fixed. Thanks for nothing!
Called Britannia Rescue on Monday 16 February as car wouldn't start call handler very helpful and said a man will be with me in about 2 hours which he was. He checked my car and said I need a new battery, I said ok and he took a few details got in his van and left. I thought so I now have to find someone to take me to buy a new battery and fit it myself, why didn't the rescue guy do it as I'm 73. Britannia were good the rescue contractor not so.
We had left our car for just over three weeks after a holiday and the battery was flat . We called Britannia rescue and the service we received was top class. Call was answered promptly by Justin who listened carefully to my plight . He gave clear explanations on what would happen next . I received regular follow up
Txt to let me know when I could expect a mechanic to arrive followed by a call from the driver when he was on his way . All sorted within 2 hours from call to being mobile again . Thank you so much Britannia rescue .
Brilliant experience for such a horrible stressful time. Made things 10x easier!
Call centre staff all good as spoke to three of the team due to prebooking vehicle for rescue as home call out.
