I'm new here in London and don't really know the rules. I thought my insurance covered my dental care, but I went for a checkup and discovered some small cavities. I'll pay part of it, and the insurance company will too, even though during my last appointment I was supposed to pay 945 pounds, which is very expensive for me, and I didn't know I had to pay that much. How am I going to survive for the rest of the month? I have rent and traveling to pay. I had another appointment, and it's the last one, but I'm going to cancel it because I won't be able to pay such a large sum. I've lost all confidence, and it's really upsetting.

Very disappointed
Felt it could not have been much worse
Phoned early am asking that I saw Dr on my own( my husband tends to take over and I hardly get a word in)
This didn’t happen.
I have a hiatus hernia problem.
It has enlarged so I get excess acid in my mouth with ulcers and a sore throat.
Th said doctor made me feel he was disinterested and gave me no suggestions re dealing with my problem.
My g.p. daughter- in - law thought this poor and felt at least suggesting an additional med for a short term was called for.
I felt so disappointed. Suggest you remove him from your list

I needed an operation within a critical timescale to avoid complications with the surgery. The first appointment i could get for my consultation through BUPA/Nuffield was one week after I need to have had the operation in the critical window.
Despite having the private health cover, I ended up having to go through the NHS as they outperformed BUPA/Nuffield on timescales massively and could accommodate the critical timescale.
I did express the urgency to the Nuffield and was offered another consultation with a different consultant slightly earlier, but this was still too late and we wouldn't even be at the surgery date stage.
I guess BUPA is good for none critical timescale things, but it fell well below the efficiency of the NHS for my situation. I expressed that it was an urgent situation (within a 3 weeks window), but they appeared to have no mechanism to recognise and address a time critical requirement, which i found very disappointing. I thought the whole point of private health cover with BUPA was that it outperformed the NHS, but it's actually the other way round in my experience.
I was a big ambassador for private health cover, as I have used it in the past, but this experience has changed this, I think private health has become too much of a business and the NHS has actually improved a lot from my previous experiences with them, so I don't consider continuing private health cover important to me anymore.

Despite being clear on my condition and having had initial consultations covered, the final treatment was not authorized for payment which was very disappointing considering the remedy (Botox) was being used to resolve a genuine medical issue.

Very easy to book, my dental treatment is included in the plan and as I used a Bupa dentist it was covered totally and I did not have to pay and claim back. I was a new patient to the practice and they were not currently taking new NHS patients but I was able to be put on the books through the Bupa scheme. The staff and dentists at the practice were all excellent - all round a great experience with Bupa Dental.

BUPA have been understanding and empathetic during the whole process from diagnosis, delay in treatment and eventually after operation.

The agent was very helpful and clear with her information. It was so reassuring to know I could finally get some help. I hadn’t claimed since 1990 but and BUPA was good then so it was good to know the service was still so efficient.

The process was straight forward. This time I didn't request regular updates either, because I didn't think it necessary, after the last submission.

Really easy to get treatment approved with a good selection of physios. Very pleased with the entire process, no problems at all.

We have had Bupa health insurance through my husband’s work for almost 20 years to the cost of almost £200,000. In all that time, all they have covered is one wisdom tooth removal.
For the past MONTH I have been trying to access a simple psychiatrist appointment for my teenager, and they have done nothing but drown us in endless paperwork, bureaucracy, pointless triages and phone calls that go nowhere.
Bupa have poor access to actual medical services and medical professionals when you need them. Bupa is in my opinion a total sham. They profit off peoples vulnerabilities, and do not deliver what is promised.
None of the 3 psychiatrists offered are local. If and when we actually get an appointment, it will be via video call which is a very poor standard of professional healthcare. Do not waste your money.

I'd had a painful knee for around 4 months and it wasn't getting any better. I contacted BUPA and was given a video appointment with a physio who gave me easy to follow exercises to do on an app which showed videos. My knee has now recovered and the whole process was so simple.

BUPA were very efficient as well sorting out the consultant regarding visits and insurance cover. So far everything has gone smoothly now waiting for the prognosis and when the procedure will occur. Spire Regency hospital the staff were all very polite and helpful
