Warning - Do Not Purchase Men’s Clothing from Daniels

This is a follow up to my review dated 13th February.

After my distressing experience in Daniel’s Windsor on 12th February, I contacted Gant direct. Despite the fact they had no legal relationship with me , they could not have been more helpful. They were friendly and apologetic and eager to resolve the issue, simply asking me to send them a photograph of the jumper and proof of purchase. Upon receipt of these they immediately offered me a full credit note.

At no time did they suggest that I had washed the jumper incorrectly and/or caused the damage myself (something the staff in Windsor were very quick to infer.) Nor did they ask me to return the jumper so that they could carry out a “product review” (whatever that is) - something I was told by the “family member” was essential.

Daniels, despite thirty years of loyal custom, I will not be returning to your store and would warn anyone reading this to think twice before doing so. Your alleged values of “quality, value and service” are misleading and untrue.

They cancel orders as they don’t know their stock levels!

I have tried to order two separate items in the last few months, only to receive an emails days later stating “ Unfortunately, on this occasion we have had to cancel your order. Please accept our sincerest apologies that we cannot fulfil your order.” Annoyed as the second order was meant to be a gift, and the first was my Christmas present. I called up to see what was going on;
a polite gentleman tried to help me however he could not understand where the issue arose as it seemed there was one in stock which could not be located. Albeit he is raising an investigation ticket. Utterly and bitterly disappointed

Great customer service

I recently bought an item from here and it wasn't for me. I contacted them and they immediately sent me a returns label and a refund was processed as soon as they received the item, literally within days of me posting it back, much quicker than I have received refunds when dealing with chain stores. All phone calls when dealing with them were answered promptly and the staff were incredibly polite and helpful at all times.

DONT BOTHER GIVING THIS COMPANY ALL YOUR INFORMATION!

Went on this companies website to buy a Jellycat Cheri Cake and was offered a £5 discount if I entered my email address, which I proceeded to do! I was then told I also needed to enter my phone number, which stupidly i also proceeded to do! I was given a code DANIEL5 and then proceeded to checkout. When asked if i had a discount code I put it in the box only to be told that I needed to register for an account, so bearing In mind they would need my address to send the parcel I proceeded with that and went back to the checkout page, only to then be told after submitting all my I formation, that I would then need to soend at least £50! Absolute Rubbish! I didn't bother in the end!

Shane on you! Dreadful customer service.

I found via the internet ( we live in the wilds of Cumbria) two Alicia chairs this morning, which I ordered. We already have the sofas.
Only when I was about to pay for them did this ridiculous website say they’re out of stock!
I ve emailed twice - no reply
I’ve phoned three times - no one has had the courtesy to come back to me with information.
We own and operation a 35 bed hotel. If we treated our customers in this way we would soon have no customers!
Shame on you Daniel Stores, dreadful customer service.

Really !!!...?

The actual store experience is a really good experience but we are always shocked at one of the security guards in the windsor store who looks like he was dressed for an SAS mission to storm some foreign embassy. Totally and completely overboard and in such a nice and upmarket store completely unrequired. Its windsor !!. No need for body cams on every corner of his uniform or bullet proof vest or highly polished boots and riot shield.

Get a grip 'Daniel' totally unrequired to have somebody like that in store grabbing everybodys attention. Russia wont be invading you tomorrow i assure you.

Their presence acts as a deterrent and has made a noticeable difference in reducing incidents.

In an ideal world, such measures wouldn't be required - but given the current retail climate and the frequency with which we are the target of shoplifting, it's necessary for us to take these precautions.

Unclean floors and wilted salads

I have been coming to Daniel Windsor since moved here 27 years ago and always thought it was a lovely store. Today, however, I entered through the doors next to Heidi’s and the first thing I noticed was that the stairs from the sliding doors into the store didn’t look very clean. We then sat in Heidi’s at the tables for 4 near the exit and I noticed the floor there seemed to have many coffee/tea stains and the seats we were sitting on had many crumbs and didn’t look clean either. We were going to have lunch there … but! When we got to the (amazing!) counter there were a couple flies landing and taking off from the pizza squares. The staff, who weren’t busy at that time, were ignoring the flies. I moved on and saw little quiches, which I quite fancied, but the quiches had rocket on the top, and the rocket was completely wilted and looked as though it had been there for days, rather than that morning.
Very disappointing for such a smart store.

Excellent customer service

My shopping experience at Daniels in both Windsor and Ealing stores was second to none, with good old-fashioned customer service (which is virtually non-existent nowadays!) The assistance given from start to finish by Anna and Brian in the furniture department was 5 star. Both were knowledgeable, helpful and friendly, bending over backwards to accommodate my requests, including delivering furniture at extremely short notice! I will be returning! Thank you.

Excellent customer service and follow up

Recently purchased some Bramblecrest garden furniture from Daniel’s. Shop staff, notably Andrew was so helpful with all aspects of our queries and the sale. The furniture was delivered today set up in the garden ready to use; how marvellous not to have to do this ourselves! Thanks to Chris who, not for the first time, is a credit to Daniel’s. Thank you.

Cancellation of orders without refund❌❌❌

I bought a bag for my daughter for her birthday. I received confirmation of the order and I waited. Finally, I received an MRI with the information that my order had been canceled due to out of stock. Ok. I was expected that my money would be returned to my account within 5-7 business days. Unfortunately, the declared period has passed and there is still no money. I decided to ask the bank for help in recovering the money and reported the case as fraud. Despite constant emails to which I receive no response, I still hoped to get my money back. I am ignored all the time! I see I'm not the only person with this problem and I suspect it's a big scam and positive comments are paid. Be careful with this store....if you don't want to waste your money - never buy here!!!❌❌❌

Order cancelled... Apparently no stock...

Placed an order for a wallet which was going to be a birthday present.
Everything was successful order confirmation received, assumed it would arrive in a few days - all good!
After a few days, nothing, logged in and my order now said cancelled but no explanation.
I sent an email and awaited a response, they replied and said to check my junk folder - turns out there was an email there saying the item was out of stock and the order has been cancelled.
This is inconvenient but appreciate stock counts can get out of sync on occasion... What annoyed me is that there was no description about why it was cancelled online, and if I hadn't made an account there wouldn't have been a way for me to check the status either. The process and the way information is presented could certainly be improved. Having since read similar reviews I don't think I would use this company again if I need something quickly incase the same thing happened again

Website Shambles

I ordered a pair of rugby boots online on 25/04. On the 26/04 (late afternoon) I was informed by email that my order was cancelled, no reason was given. I phoned the store and was advised that they did not in fact have the boots in stock. The reason given was that it could take 48 hours for the website to update stock levels. I had been looking at these boots from this store since the Sunday which makes their '48 hours' statement invalid. My bank is now only refunding the money on the 26/05 as this is their policy. I have contacted the stores customer service who have just stated they cannot do anything about my banks policy, which I understand and I have not questioned with the store. What I have questioned is their inadequate monitoring of the website which has lead to me being in this position. I have had to order another pair of boots at considerable cost, in total I have spent £150 instead of just the original £70. I received such a generic reply from their customer service, it could be written by AI. They have thanked me for my valuable input? They are sorry for my experience. Not once have they apologised for the distress they have put me through, do they not consider the financial implication of having to buy another pair of boots? The least they could do is consider the human behind the complaint instead of sending me a scripted response which is not fit for purpose. I definitely will not be going anywhere near Daniel Stores again and would caution anyone who is thinking of ordering online with them.
