An update on my last review

An update on my last review. I was hoping to give a five star review and inform anyone reading this that Daniel Department store decoded to give me a refund so I can purchase my daughter an actual bed she could get a good night sleep on. But no. I was offered a £50 gift voucher!! What is that going to solve. I cannot purchase a replacement bed with that. I have tried sleeping on the bed and so have my grandson. And we have all come to to same conclusion. After about five minutes you need to move as the mattress becomes uncomfortable. You try and reposition yourself, but unable to find a comfortable place. Apart from the dip in the middle of the mattress it's feels like something is digging in you. Someone added a review on Sleepeezee saying they woke up feeling like Robocop. We don't disagree. Please read for yourself. Also a review from Dec 2023 about the same mattress Gel 1800. I am so angry. We put our faith in these retailers and even told the items come with guarantees and we have the sales of goods act to protect the consumer. The bottom line they do what they want. Yes the report said nothing was wrong with the mattress, I cannot see laying on a bed for less than five minutes will give you a total inspection of this sub standard Divan Bed which is not fit for purpose and as far as I am concerned DEFECTIVE!! Please read all reviews before you part with your hard earned cash. A good nights sleep is not a luxury. I will be speaking to my solicitor and the Bank. But remember they value your custom. NOT!!!

Please know that this was not intended to diminish the seriousness of your concerns - but rather as a small gesture of goodwill for the frustration you have experienced. However, we acknowledge that this falls short of addressing your needs and for that, we apologise.

We have taken note of your intention to seek legal advice and involve your bank in this matter. Rest assured, we have been committed to resolving this matter promptly and fairly. Please see more detail below on the steps we have taken and their outcomes.

Regarding the quality of the mattress: we empathise with your frustration and assure you that your feedback has been taken seriously. The latest update we have been informed of from both Sleepeezee the Manufacturer and our Beds & Furniture Department is that because the Independent Inspection Report has already taken place and as a result there is nothing further we are able to do. The outcome of the Independent Inspection Report is clear that the manufacturer (Sleepeezee) is not liable, the dip measurement is not beyond what would be typically expected in a mattress and no further action is required. Please be reassured that the investigator is fully independent, the information outlined in the report is a result of their independent investigation in an attempt to resolve this complaint by a completely neutral third party.

Regarding the assessment report: we acknowledge your concerns about its thoroughness and validity. We can assure that the independent assessment processes are comprehensive and accurate in evaluating product quality.

Once again, we do sincerely apologise for the distress and inconvenience this situation has caused you.

Unbelievable first class service

A few days ago I left a package in Daniels containing items I had bought in the store. Today I called the store and immediately a very nice lady answered the phone. I was shocked because it wasn't AI or a voice prompt. I told her about my forgotten package and she said, "yes I have it here". Amazing service and other companies please note.

Excellent service

Our television was delivered on time. James, the installer was excellent explaining everything after he had set the TV up. He was very friendly and treated two 'oldies' with patience and respect.

Extremely Unprofessional Treatment by Security Staff

I am deeply disappointed by the treatment I received during my recent visit to Daniels Department Store. As a regular customer, I have always expected a certain level of professionalism and respect from the staff. Unfortunately, the incident on this particular day left me feeling embarrassed and humiliated.

A security guard, who claimed to have years of experience, falsely accused me of stealing a shirt and displayed a confrontational attitude. Despite providing evidence that I had not taken anything, he continued to interrogate me without any apology or acknowledgement of his mistake.

I understand that security measures are essential, but this situation could have been handled much more tactfully and respectfully. As a customer, I expect to be treated with dignity and courtesy, especially when I am innocent of any wrongdoing.

Upon reporting the incident, Daniels did conduct an investigation, but the process was lengthy, and the response was delayed. While they eventually took action against the security company, the whole experience left me feeling undervalued as a customer.

I sincerely hope that Daniels will use this incident as an opportunity to reevaluate their staff training and ensure that such unprofessional behavior is not repeated in the future. As a long-time customer, I expect a higher standard of customer service from a reputable store like Daniels.

In conclusion, I cannot recommend Daniels Department Store based on my recent experience. I believe customers deserve to be treated with respect and courtesy, regardless of the situation. Until significant improvements are made, I will be taking my business elsewhere.

We must let you know that the Security Firm we have been using recently are contracted out and are not our direct employees. We have been trialling various Security Contractors and we do not currently have a security guard on our employee payroll; instead we contract out private security firms. Please rest assured that we had a disciplinary meeting with the particular Security Guard in question.

We sincerely apologise and under any circumstances, we do not condone the behaviour that you experienced on that day and we are disappointed by the way you were treated. We fully agree that you must be treated with respect and courtesy.

The reason the investigation process was lengthy was because we needed to locate the date, location and exact time stamp in order to export and review the CCTV Footage of the incident - it took a while to go through the camera footage in order to track down the correct time stamp and camera location. We apologise for this process taking longer than we would have liked.

We really do appreciate your long-term custom and are outraged that a loyal customer has been treated in this manner.

Hidden disclaimer and money trap.

I ordered swimwear from this company as an online purchase. Unfortunately the items did not fit, however I was unable to return it as the company do not accept refunds on swimwear due to hygiene reasons.

This is the first time I have come across a policy of this kind and was therefore not looking for the information on the website. I just made the purchase, as I have in the past on many swimwear items, knowing I would follow the hygiene guidelines stated on the stickers on the swimwear when trying them on.

I feel strongly that information of this kind should be placed clearly on the website so that the consumer is aware before making a purchase. A disclaimer under the ‘pay’ button would prompt the buyer to consider the fact that there is a no refund policy before funds are released.

Also, consideration for refunds on swimwear should be taken into account following the review of a returned product, like all other major online retailers. Hiding a ‘no refunds’ disclaimer within the website is deceitful and I am sure many other customs have fallen into the same trap that I have.

I wanted to write this review to raise awareness of this and hope for change.

We ordered a three piece suite 5 months…don’t seem to care

We ordered a three piece suite 5 months ago after 10 weeks they delivered the wrong sofa. They reordered the sofa so we had to wait another 10 weeks. It is now in their warehouse but they won’t deliver it for another 13 days. Absolutely disgusting service from what I thought to be a reputable company. I would not recommend this store at all.

Forget the personal service of a local shop

I forgot a card that would have given me a discount of 10% that would have come to the grand sum of £1. I showed them a receipt from yesterday when I had bought a similar item and where I had received the discount. They still refused to offer it insisting that they needed to see the card. I have shopped at the Windsor toy department since my 12 year old daughter was born, insisting that she learn the importance of supporting local physical shops where relationships can be built. To be fair, the usual shop assistant was not there. However, from now on it is online for me.

Ordered a beautiful Kristensen dining…

Ordered a beautiful Kristensen dining table and was told it would take 12 weeks as they are made in Denmark. True to their word we received our table yesterday and and as a bonus it was a free delivery to Rochford in Essex. Delivery men were very helpful and it has been a very good experience.

Visited Santa at Santa's grotto…

Visited Santa at Santas grotto at Daniel's department store yesterday. I was really disappointed. We were rushed through the experience. Lasted about 4 minutes max. Santa was nice and friendly but called my daughter Melissa when that is not her name. Santa's helper was also very disinterested. She took one photo of us as a group with Santa and then quickly was getting ready for the next customer. She was chatting to someone outside and handing bags in and out. I felt this could have waited until after our visit. This was our slot and time with Santa. The picture she took was not good so we had to ask if she could please take another when she was finished exchanging bags with the person outside. I just found the experience disappointing. Would not recommend or visit again unfortunately.

Inadequate packaging

Not the best. Delivery was fairly prompt, however there was no dispatch notification nor any tracking provided so I had no idea it was arriving. The item itself was poorly packed, very little in the way of protective packaging so the item was dented and crushed in two places.

I’ll have to suck it up though as it’s an out of stock item in other places so I’ve little alternative other than giving a damaged item as a Christmas gift.
