Bed infested with bed bugs

Bed infested with bed bugs, which caused me to lose lots of sleep & consequently my job. Rip off concerning extension and/or early cancellation policies, my circumstances changed, practically no communication once I moved out & then to add insult to injury they deducted a €25 fee (on top of my €175 early cancellation fee) for a bank wire/transfer of my deposit. To summarise almost all house mates were cool, just caused serious skin abrasions with the bed bugs. You are better to commute from Trier or a nearby French or Belgian town, than to risk low life creatures, both in the bed & with the service level!

Dear Robertson,
We're very surprised to read that you had annoyances of that kind during your stay. After investigations, it seems that we did not receive any tickets or requests during your stay. Our dedicated team could have helped you with finding the best solution.
Concerning our extra fees, they are all mentioned in the contract you signed before remittance of your keys. Once again, our sales team could have helped you with understanding legal information.
Nonetheless, every review counts for the improvement of our services and we thank you for taking the time to write one.
We remain at your disposal for any further information,
Sincerely,
The Furnished.lu Team.

Very bad agency!

Unfortunately, I made very bad experience with furnished.lu.
I booked a room in the very center of Luxembourg ... three hours before I wanted to get my key, I got a french Email saying, that I cannot get my key due to "technical reasons" - no "sorry", no alternative offers, nothing.
When I got to their office the very unfriendly staff proposed me to move into one of their other appartments. I lived in two different ones, that were both super ugly and decentral, I decided to quit the contract. Until today (two months later), I am waiting for my deposit and agency fee.

I know the housing situation in Luxembourg city is comlicated. But it is getting worse by supporting a company like this! Be careful!

Dear Tim Steinmetzger,
Thank you for your review. We are sorry to see that your stay with us was not up to your standards.
Indeed we had technical issues with the keys and propose you to move to another location as a solution. This one seemed to be the fastest way to resolve the problem for us.
Regarding the deposit, it is common practice in Luxembourg to give back the deposit within 2 months (8 weeks) of departure as it is the time estimated to process any disputes with the exit assessment of the apartment. I understand the length of the process can be frustrating, but once more, it is a common practice in Luxembourg.
Overall, we thrive to get the best possible service to our customers and will use your feedback to improve our service quality.
Sincerely,
The Furnished.lu Team.

Practising age discrimination and not returning the booking fee

I booked a room on the site Furnished.lu of Altea Immobiliere SARL Luxembourg on January 22, 2019.
I had no idea that booking from people over age of 40 were not permitted by Altea’s Furnished.lu After taking the booking fee of Euro 150, I got an email stating that my age makes me ineligible for a room. Now this is called “age discrimination” and is forbidden in the EU, including Luxembourg, as far as I know. A day later, I received a message stating that I am allowed to rent a room because “Unfortunately, our rooms are intended for young professionals only, and people that are older than 40 do not fall into that category”. I expected to receive my booking fee back but I did not received anything so far. I sent them at least three email asking for a refund. NO ANSWER and NO MONEY REFUNDED.
Please avoid like plague this Agency which exploits the lack of accommodation currently facing Luxembourg.

Stay away from furnished.lu. Is this type of service really legal in Luxembourg?

I rented a room for a short-term stay when coming to Luxembourg, but I can in NO WAY recommend any other living soul to rent through this company. The booking and checking all went OK, but the room itself, the cleanliness and moving out has been a nightmare! The rooms are directly disgustingly dirty. Upon cancelling my stay, it got from bad to worse. Now, this awful company will not refund the security deposit. Is this legal? Stay away, stay away, stay away.

Be careful! You will not get back your security deposit !!!

Be careful! Furnished.lu or Altea Group or the owner Carole CASPARI does NOT pay back your initial security deposit. And this despite their contract obligation and written promises from a helpless and sleazy customer service. I can not recommend doing any kind of business with this dishonest company.

Hidden fees

On 4 July 2018, I booked a stay on Furnished.lu. This is done in fortnightly blocks, and the fortnight that suited me best started on 15 July 2018. I asked them if I could move in a day earlier, but this wasn't possible. Before committing, I read through all the conditions, contract, and proposed fees. This was available in French and English. I chose English.

On 12 July 2018, I received an email stating that they would be charging me €58.50 to check in on 15 July 2018! This was not present on-screen during booking. Looking back over the contract, I could see that this corresponded to something called "Key remittance on a Sunday". This English is nonsense. According to Oxford dictionary, remittance = "a sum of money sent in payment or as a gift". Not "handing over of keys", which is what the French said, which was presumably badly translated.

I told them that this charge had not been presented on-screen, despite them obviously knowing about it. I told them that I read the contract, but that I didn't understand the poorly translated nonsense that was in it. They were very unconcerned by these two points. After stating my case for about an hour, they agreed to reduce the charge to €29.25. I was still furious, having never EVER EVER been charged for the pleasure of checking into accommodation before. They just shrugged, and pointed to an incomprehensible contract.

This is what it is like to stay with Furnished.lu. If you are staying in Luxembourg, find accommodation in literally any other way, because nothing could be worse than being stuck in a contract with Furnished.lu.

@Furnished.lu: please don't tell me that you value my feedback or that you will use it to improve your service. I told you about this issue until I was blue in the face. You are aware of it, and have no intention of changing it.

Unfathomable experience…

The experience I have had with this company is absolutely unfathomable. Please spare yourself the pain and book into an AirBnB and look for something privately. The staff are trained to be cordial but once you put the phone down and you have made a payment you will NEVER receive a response to an email or a request for service.

The internet access was intermittent, the lights in the house were often not working. The residence was dirty and not all residents were "young professionals" as is used in the marketing campaign to attract people from large companies splashed across their website. I spoke to a consultant advising her that I would be in the office the next day to drop off my keys as well as to go through matters I was unhappy about to which she agreed, only to be informed again the next day that I would be charged another fee for the late return of my key. In the interim I had received multiple contracts which were incorrectly dated and had incorrect fees which I never signed, but had made payment in advance for.

In trying to be reimbursed I was dismissed and somehow someone wanted to charge me an early termination fee for a contract I had never entered into and services I had never made use of. No one has information and seemingly no wants to commit to any kind of answer if they can't make money out of it.

This was a very very sad introduction to my stay in Luxembourg do yourself a favour and avoid this route.

BED BUGS AND TOTAL NEGLIGENCE, STAY AWAY

Even paying a Service pack of around 600€ and a rent of 750 euro myroom was not in livable conditions, It was full of bed bugs. I got bite everywhere in my body and my skin was ruined for a while.
But the worst thing was the behavior of the agency with respect to my problem. I sent immediatly an e-mail showing the problem without any kind of reply.
After few days I sent another one with pictures that clearly described the situation and they didn't replied again. I got their attention only after several calls and this is really unacceptable for this kind of problems.
- The agency had a really bad conduct and indifference of my situation, that can be summarize in these steps: 1) the agency told me that the problem was fixed the weekend of 13th and 14th of October since I was in Frankfurt but when I arrived, on Sunday night, the situation was the same and I got bite again since I though the situation was ok. Few days later, after my repeated calls someone from the agency came and put a gas in my room without any kind of advice, I think that gas was not healthy at all for me since I inhaled it and I still have a throat pain and cough please, I have saved some clothes in a secure box and I will check it. For the lawyer was really bad to know that someone, without advice me, put toxic gas in my room just without carrying even of my health.
The day after someone came to change my mattress and my question is how that could change something since, even from the pictures that I sent them before , the problem was not just the mattress but the whole room and especially the wood part of the bed.
They lied to me, they told that theywere without empty rooms, but I checked on the website and there was one empty till the 14th of November, I know a person living there so I double checked and was indeed empty. I have screenshots possibility of booking that. In more than 3 weeks the agency was not able to find me an alternative accommodation, or a hotel or a place to stay.
- I slept more that 2 weeks without a room, in other rooms or in the kitchen or where was possible for me, useless say that has negatively affected my performances at work and during the day.
-I spent money for a doctor because my skin was ruined and even for some cure products.
According to my lawyer the negligence is clear and especially some facts are really heavy and bad. After 3 weeks of troubles a specialized company was suppose to came to to clean the room but even after that (One month after the beginning of the problem) was not fixed so I changed place.
They not even refund me a whole rent, and then they rent again the room knowing that is not fixed and there are still bed bugs.

Expensive option

The booking service is smooth and convienient, which makes it a seemingly easiest option for a limited period of time and the customer service is appropriate. However I would only recommend it to anyone as really the last option - it is relatively expensive, especially with the additional fees (just reading the list can be a little discouraging) and the standard is not high whatsoever. Also, do not expect to receive your deposit in time (which is 8 weeks after the termination of the contract).

As for the deposit, it will be refunded on time. If you have not received a communication from our accounting department, don't hesitate to call us.

Terrible company all-round!

Terrible company all-round!
My colleagues and I have suffered greatly with this company from dirty/unfurnished rooms, to bad customer service to charging ridiculous fees for every little thing. Out of the 10-12 people I know who used Furnished.lu, none of them were happy. Unfortunately, there is no alternative company in Luxembourg for short-term renting.
To make matters worse, they take 8 weeks to return your deposit in 2 installments (of course minus their fees!). Why do I have to pay 25 Euros to get my money back?!?! Perhaps we should pay our rent when we want or I should charge Furnished.lu interest for using my money for 8 weeks.
Although I got lucky as my apartment was new and fairly clean (and I had some nice housemates), my colleagues had to live without Wi-Fi and in dirty apartments. On a few occasions, the cleaning maid used to skip weeks. Over the 6 months, there a number of issues and mechanical faults- mould, damp, heating not working, loss of power (which spoiled food in the fridge) etc. To get these issues fixed was not very easy!
I am glad that I am not staying with Furnished anymore- I rather pay a little more and rent privately than deal with this company.
Overall, there is a slim chance you will be happy with this company. The rent is expensive and to make matters worse the quality of apartments and service is terrible. Be prepared to pay extra fees for no reason.

Dear Bilal,

Thank you for your review. We are sorry to see that your stay with us was not up to your standards.

I would like to take the time to answer to your disapointments. Regarding the fees we apply, there are all detailed in the contract that you sign with us. What is more, in your particular case, no extra fees were charged for the entire duration of your stay.
Regarding the deposit, it is common practice in Luxembourg to give back the deposit within 2 months (8 weeks) of departure as it is the time estimated to process any disputes with the exit assessment of the apartment. I understand the lenght of the process can be frustrating, but once more, it is a common practice in Luxembourg.
Regarding the fee of 25€ for the refund of your rental deposit, this fee only applies if the credit card you used to make the booking is not valid anymore. As we use the Stripe platform for the booking process, we directly refund your credit card and complete this refund with a bank transfer of the other half of the deposit and any other outsanding amount you may have with us.
Regarding the technical issues, we apologize if they were numerous, we try as much as possible to resolve any issue as soon as possible.

Overall, we thrive to get the best possible service to our customers and will use your feedback to improve our service quality.

Getting your deposit back is a terrible.

Rental services is good. Getting your deposit back is a terrible. They promise me the make a repayment in 4 weeks. After 4 weeks I call the office and now they told me that it will take 8 weeks.after 12 weeks I get it back. It is not nice to wait so long for getting your deposit back. But when you pay you rent a day to late you have to pay an extra fee. They have the right to do it, but doing business is having respect for the 2 parties of the contracts.

excellent customer services

I have lived in an Altea apartment for more than 8 months.
Everything has been perfect: internet, flatmates, availability of the staff, apartment conditions...They are a big organisation and for this reason, they can provide customers with excellent and customised services.
I definitely recommend them.

Barely acceptable, to be avoided if you have a choice.

FurnishedAltea unfortunately have a monopoly position for short term rentals in Luxembourg. You get what you book - at the absolute minimum standard with non-existent customer service. Indeed the company is very quick at taking money from customers, while paying back deposits takes weeks. Be careful to immediately report ANY damages, missing objects or poor services (we were given a 4G mobile router with limited data that ran out after 5 days). Picking up the key from a letterbox at the furnished office at 22.00 at night (at absolutely no extra effort for the company) was charged with over 40 Euros, and zero explanations were provided on how to find the apartment in a big house with no signs on the doors. All in all: Barely acceptable, to be avoided if you have a choice.

not recommendable

Careful with funrnished Lu. I actually had a totally unacceptable experience with them.

a) I confirm they charge virtually everything in particular things that they have not delivered. No Service whatsoever but a rent that is much more expensive due to penalty fees than announced.
I arrived and the room was not prepared, no one would tell me what to do in such case. So I cleaned myself and was on top of all charged for wrong garbage disposal at the end. Did not yet get my deposit back after months being out of the premises!
Very poor internet connection/WIFI
No TV only Chromcast connection based on the lousy WIFI connection
Half of the equipment was damaged and I had to report this withing 5 days not to be charged for it on top
b) They use internet for everything, in particular their contractual base is exclusively handled via internet and you do not have a chance to opt out certain things like penalties for things that are totally absurd
c) still waiting to get my money back (Deposit). They take very fast but in the very moment to pay the deposit back it becomes very difficult and you have to chase them. Which is even more difficult when you do not have the option of calling and getting a decent answer. More than lousy and rude.
They use your credit card to charge the deposit but have forgotten that this credit card exists at the time they need to refund and charge you on top for a change of card. Never seen such thing!

Money hungry vultures

Although its a convenient option for some one new to Luxembourg, bear in mind that you would be paying a lot more than just the quoted rent. They have many ways to trick you into doing it and the contract protects them so you cant do any thing about it. For example,

1. They will put penalty charges of " broken kitchen crockery" or " someone smoking". So many people will share residence and someone eventually will break crockery and you will have to pay the cost too(18 euros)

2. They are very quick to take money from your deposits so watch out!

3. The customer service is non existent... 5 complains for one fault will be needed to get some repair done

4. Internet was not there in residence where i moved, got installed after 3 days but you pay full monthly charges

5. No after hour emergency support service ! Only if you are lucky and some one happens to bethere...

Huge fees for everything at Furnished.lu

For a small burned sign on the kitchen table each tenant (and we are 7 in total) has to pay 72euros. And half of them just arrived. We received an e-mail saying that we are penalized as we broke the contract without any other explications. That amount is going to be taken from the deposit.
