Fifteen thousand pounds worth of shares have disappeared from my account and Saxo have had seven months to come up with an explanation.

I want to assure you that your shares haven't disappeared; instead, a default option was applied because the election deadline was missed. Here’s a brief recap of what's happening:
Regarding the ticker HOT:xlon and exchange event ID 9322308, the default option was automatically selected since we didn't receive an election choice from you by the deadline of February 18, 2025.
To further clarify:
1. The default option leads to an exchange into mutual funds under ISIN GB0007493470.
2. We're collaborating closely with our custodian and their Transfer Agent to execute the transfer. Due to the nature of mutual funds, there have been some delays.
3. At the moment, we don't have a mutual fund account with this custodian, but we are actively working with them to determine the next steps and will update you accordingly.
4. This matter is being discussed regularly in our weekly calls with the custodian.
Please be assured that resolving this issue is a top priority. We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused and are committed to finding a resolution for you. I will make sure to keep you updated.

Absolutely Shocking Way to treat customers!
Absolutely Shocking service!
I Sold some covered calls (meaning I already hold the shares, can not get margin called) for the exact reason that Saxobank advertise on their website which is 'To generate a passive income on stocks you own' However, and totally at odds with what they clearly state on their website, they are now withholding my premiums as margin so I can not withdraw the premiums or use it to hedge my positions or to make other trades. All other 'legitimate' brokers will let you withdraw Covered call premiums because they are exactly that, COVERED. I will be transferring my account to another broker. I will also be contacting the Financial Ombudsman service (FS0)

What you describe here is by system design. All positions on the Saxo platform are treated as stand alone trades. So, while the platform interprets the covered call from a market risk perspective and provides margin reduction, it doesn’t presume that the shares will be held until after option expiry.
Rather, it provides flexibility to be able to close either the share or option position at any time. In managing the positions like this it is necessary to withhold a projected amount of cash that matches the prevailing premium amount.
Once the option expires none of the cash is withheld and the passive income for selling the option is achieved.
We're committed to continuously evaluating and enhancing our systems and procedures, and your feedback will be passed on to the appropriate team for possible future improvements.

Easy to use Investment platform
The platform is easy to use and presents good value for the performance offered. I also use other Platforms and can say that although a little cheaper than Saxo, they do not offer the same level of detail.

Excellent Platform
Excellent Platform - quick and easy to learn how to get around, add stocks that are of interest, place orders etc. There is a lot of info provided in each share, plus daily newsfeed within each stock.
Reports are excellent, and cost are very competitive.

Gold standard for customer service
I had an account with Saxo that fell dormant after many years of not being used. I didn't realise there was a balance on the account until the Saxo team reminded me. After calling the customer service team to withdraw the remainkng funds my case was handled by Bettina. From the initial point of contact to the request being fully executed, Bettina was supremely helpful and polite, effectively dealing with the request. She kept me informed the whole way and helped me complete the necessary identification forms to complete the withdrawal request. In my experience she sets the gold standard for customer service.

SAXO acts in bad faith to rip off clients. AJ Bell acts with integrity and provides better, more cost efficient service
I was repulsed by the extremely high charges that Saxo UK charged me to acquire my only position on their platform. I was charged for putting the mid-cap Canadian company on their access list, I was charged an exorbitant forex fee, dealing fee and the execution was bad. Having moved my funds to AJ Bell years ago, it has been a joy. They have acted always with integrity and they are transparent in their fees. In comparison, Saxo acts in bad faith to knowingly rip off their clients. Go with AJ Bell - 100% better.
