Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 125 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. People frequently struggled with balances being drained or mysteriously disappearing immediately after card activation, alongside online platforms that constantly failed to load properly. Customers also reported that phone support lines were completely automated, leaving them stranded and making it impossible to reach a real person for assistance. Some reviewers were happy with certain transactions, noting that previous cards worked fine or that customer service representatives were polite. A few consumers even received prompt assistance and replacement virtual cards when unexpected issues or technical problems arose. Others mentioned successfully using smaller remaining balances at physical retail stores without encountering major obstacles.

Scammy card, scummier customer service

I bought a prepaid Visa card for my dad. He doesn't live in Canada so he likes to get them when he's here so he can shop online when he's back home.

We had several problems registering the card. It failed inexplicably several times after the 24-hr wait for activation. When we finally registered it, I registered it under his name and email but my physical address since it required a Canadian address.

His first purchase worked as expected. The card has not worked since. Additionally, on their website, when I check the balance, there are charges for ~$37 CAD (~$24 USD + a foreign transaction fee) which aligns with what my dad bought. But ~$50 has been taken off the card.

I called them to address the two issues and it was a nightmare. The number on the card goes to an automated system with no option to talk to a human. You have to dig through pages of terms and agreements on their website to find the number to speak to a human. Then, when I spoke to someone, I was not allowed to do anything because it was registered in my dad's name. Even though I had all the card info. After speaking with four different agents, I eventually had to add my dad to a conference call at a huge cost. The information they "confirmed" was just my address that I relayed to him. And after all that, they were not able to tell me why the card was not working. And according to their magical system, the first transaction was for ~$49 CAD plus the transaction fee. They could not tell me why this was different from the online portal.

0/5 stars. I am never using their services again and I would not recommend them to my least favourite person.

Cannot use anywhere

After a few tries I was able to register the card and check the card's balance on the website (which shows it should work), but it's only ever been declined when used at stores in-person or online. Super frustrating

Scammed from the company

Literally a scam, i bought a 85$ card, i use them alot but i knew something was fishy because the cards stopped working very easily.

I did two purchases and wrote how much $$ there is left, from 85$, to 52$ then 20$, when there is 20$ left, the card completely stops working and if i try to check the balance, it says that they cant do anything at the moment, which is fake because 10 seconds later, a new card works well.

Dont buy joker cards if you dont want the company stealing a part of it and making you feel like its an error from your part.

Someone gave my son a $25 Joker card

Someone gave my son a $25 Joker card, he tried to buy Roblox online and it doesnt work. After I tried to register the card online and it asks you for a lot of personal info, including submitting your photo ID. For $25 I'm not risking identity theft, this is ridiculous.

I bought two JOKER prepaid cards from…

I bought two JOKER prepaid cards from two different stores – I haven’t been able to activate or use either of them. I’ve tried multiple times, on different websites and devices, but nothing works. I contacted the stores – they claim everything went through correctly on their end and say they can’t help. In reality, I’ve lost $100.

This feels like a complete scam – the company offers no real support, and the customer is left with nothing. I strongly warn others: don’t buy these cards, you’ll only lose your money and patience.

Update: After posting my original review, I was contacted by JOKER’s customer support. It turned out the issue was related to a security check. The team was very helpful and sent me new, working cards. I appreciate their prompt response and assistance. While the initial experience was frustrating, the situation was ultimately resolved in a positive way. Thank you for your help.

The go-to for scamming your elderly parents!!

My mother was scammed (someone convinced her to purchase a gift card for them as part of the scam). I called to try to cancel through their phone number by reporting lost or stolen. They would do nothing without the credit card number. I don't have the card! How am I supposed to know what the number is? How is anyone supposed to have their card number if it was lost or stolen? I had the receipt but apparently that was not enough. Zero care or compassion from the customer service representative on the phone. Scammers, this card is a great choice for you!

$100 gift card - with no money in it!!! BUYER BEWARE!

This was supposed to be a $100 gift card. When I could not register or activate it online, I called customer service. The number (with live person) was not on the card - but I got it indirectly via their website. I was told by them that my $100 card (which I had not even registered or activated yet) had a balance of only 13 cents on it -and there have been some paypal transactions on this card (as some other reviewers have also mentioned). How is that even possible? I was then referred / transferred to the dispute team. The dispute team asked for my name, email, and mailing address before they could proceed to resolve the issue.

Considering this is a gift card, they should not insist on collecting my personal information to be able to assist me.

I honestly think they are scammers and other comments on this page only reiterate that suspicion. If there are multiple visa gift cards with exactly the same number, how can Joker be a legit business? If it is legit, it is certainly not one I would recommend or trust.

Is there anyone at all for whom Joker's gift card worked at first go?

I WILL NEVER MAKE THE MISTAKE OF BUYING OR ACCEPTING A JOKER GIFT CARD AGAIN

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED SINCE THESE CARDS SELL AT LEGIT RETAIL STORES - AND SO UNSUSPECTING CUSTOMERS WITH GOOD INTENTIONS OF GETTING SOMEONE A GIFT MAY NOT ONLY END UP LOSING MONEY BUT ALSO WASTING THEIR TIME AND ENERGY TRYING TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE WITH THE JOKER TEAM.

CONSIDERING THE ONE STAR RATING, I HAVE NO IDEA HOW JOKER IS STILL IN BUSINESS. SADLY MANY OF US DISCOVER THE LOW RATING AND NEGATIVE REVIEWS ONLY AFTER LOSING MONEY OURSELVES.

Update- July 23, 2025
The request from Joker asks for full name, phone number and email. Message for Joker - When I called you, you asked for full name, email and mailing address. When none of these were required to buy a card, why should they be required now? How do I know you won't misuse my information when you've already lost all credibility? If you genuinely want to help, you should help based on the card details. I was willing to provide email when I called but you said you will need a mailing address also- which I am not willing to share with people I don't trust. Also, you may then ask for ID verification - sorry you're asking for too much in return for a scam card that is nothing but a trouble-maker.

The joke is on you if you purchase a Joker card

Well at least they got the name on the card right.DO NOT PURCHASE. I purchased a $50 card and by the time I paid for it go home and registered it I had balance of 23.42 on the joker card. Not to mention a $4.99 charge at the till. When I was able to see the transactions 2 of them where fees by the card company peoples and another charge that looked like it was a convenience store. Looked for a customer service # or dispute line but to no avail. Instead like so many other companies you have this long drawn out form and procedure to follow that most people dont bother. Well dont bother it got me nowhere . I received 1 call which I missed and 2 -3 days later I received an email saying the file is enclosed. What a JOKE ! As for PEOPLES please change your false name cause obviously your just another large company with billionaires making money off the working who actually support this country by paying taxes not like you bastards.

Disappointing All Around

I received a card at the beginning of the year, I couldn't register it online as the website was down, so I registered it over the phone. I continued to have issues with it not working, so I tucked it away and didn't think about it again until today, tried to register again - didn't work. Tried to call - didn't work, tried to speak to someone on the phone - didn't work. There is $250.00 gone.

Be cautious

This goes directly out to Maurice as he's been the main recipient of reviews and the fact is the phone calls I endured just to get an operator was to select making a dispute which in the end as I did clearly explain the matter is that your automated system has the correct amount that was processed when making the payment to the vendor. The vendor's receipt matches that automated system of the amount of 33.90 and lastly jokercard.ca's website for checking the balance says the amount is 33.90 of the original sale. Yet the dispute department claims 47.00 on the system from the vendor. Jokercard is also a vendor it was a product created by two corporations so if this is not resolved by today I will go to those two companies and let them be very aware of the undergoings that are materializing behind their backs.

shitty scammers deserve negative 100…

shitty scammers deserve negative 100 stars.

bought a card today, never used it, gets declined with every attempt at a purchase, either online or even at a gas station.. have the funds in my account. tried calling their joke of a 800 hotline, but there is no option for a card that doesn't work. you can check your balance, that's about it on the phone. definitely no option to talk to anyone. and what are the options for reaching them? no email address, but you can write them an effing letter snail mail. they literally want to sell you a horrible product and make it impossible to hold them accountable. done with this. absolute trash. shit show of pathetic weaslely horrible scheisters. NEVER AGAIN.

Give me my money back, thieves. Worst customer service ever. Your stupid bot-tomatic reply "understanding my frustration" is worth as much as puke in a pile of dog shit. Horrible scammers. Thieves. Same response to everyone. "We understand your fruatration..." understand and get off on it? I should have read these warnings first. Never ever again.

Why no email for customer service? Only way to "reach" you is a worthless phone system with You sell a fraudulent product and shield yourself from accountability. Not that i would trust any help from an email reply, at this point... but you're rubbing your arrogance in our faces, stealing 50, 100, 200, 500 dollars at a time. If you have a complaint about wasting your money in support of this fraud scheme, get a piece of paper and a pen, and write a detailed essay on how your expectations of getting the product you paid for weren't met. Then trot down to the post office, buy a stamp, and send your legitimate concerns into the void. Maybe you'll get some sympathetic words of "understanding frustration" 6-8 weeks later. The one and ONLY reason you would make snail mail the only available option at trying not to get screwed over is to discourage people from having their displeasure addressed. Such fans of paperwork? How about a class action lawsuit. I can see hundreds of other people here who feel as scammed as i do by you pathetic sneaky weasles.

You are required by federally regulated law to make yourself available to questions and complaints. Your 800 number does not offer such an opportunity, and your snail mail loophole does not fall within reasonable means. Just get an effing email address. Slimyscammingshittyscammers at hotmail is probably available.
