Excellent Customer Service.

I purchased a VW Passat and the whole process was hassle free.
The sales Manager Rex Hodson was extremely helpful and professional whilst communicating well and responding to my queries quickly.

I would definitely recommend Lowton Motor Company.

AVOID

Sales rep told me car was available to view, I told him I'm on the way right now and he took my name and number.

I said I'll be an hour an half as that's how far I lived from the garage.

As promised I arrived on time, when I walked in I was told the car wasn't availible to view as it was getting work done!

Why couldn't he have told me this during the hour and half he had while I was driving all this way to the garage?!?! He had My number!

Not so much as an apology or asking me if I'd be interested in another car or when the car would be repaired!

I'd avoid a place like this that deals with customers in this way!

ONLY GIVING 1 STAR BECAUSE IT WON'T LET…

ONLY GIVING 1 STAR BECAUSE IT WON'T LET ME GIVE 0**

Where so I start? This review could be a 5 page essay, but I will stick to the most important points of why you should never EVER buy a car from these criminals.

Bought a Mercedes A class in August 2023 and within 6 weeks it began to make an awful sound. Turned out to be the timing chain..returned the car to be fixed under warranty. 5 weeks later..yes 5 WEEKS it was returned to me not fixed, filthy inside and out, 250 extra miles on the clock and most disgustingly a number of my personal items missing from inside the car. That is just the very basic story, there is so much more I could say. AVOID, AVOID , AVOID. Also, I'd love to know who Martin is and why his iPhone had been paired to my car, I guess he's the guy who drove around in it for 250 miles. I have photo and video evidence of everything...you refused to respond to any letters or emails sent, so you leave no choice for me to now let everyone on the Internet know how you treat customers and staff for that matter. Sending a woman down on her own to return the car to me knowing full well how unhappy we were going to be...utter cowards!
**31/1/24 edited to reply to LMC reply**
Firstly, my review is not a duplicate, this is MY car and MY honest experience of what has happened.
It has taken negative reviews of my experience to get LMC to engage in any communication, up until last week you had not been in touch and ignored ALL letters sent signed delivery, so I know you received them and emails. At present your resolution is "a ceramic coating on my car at the expense of yourselves"? How that solves the timing chain issue, I don't know.

You have still not provided proof of the timing chain repair being carried out despite numerous requests, so yes, 5 weeks is not exceptable seen as the car still has the same issue you claimed to of repaired.
Communication with yourselves during those 5 weeks were beyond poor..unreturned phone calls, we had to constantly chase for updates. We were given 2 dates for which the car was booked in to have the timing chain done which is a 2 day job. These dates both came and went with poor excuses as to why it hadn't been completed. The most alarming part was when at one point it took 3 members of staff to actually confirm where the vehicle was as nobody could tell us which garage was completing the work. Turns out it wasn't at any garage, but was being stored in a compound according to your staff member.

250 miles is excessive for a road test, you are 32 miles away from me, for context 250miles is 2 weeks worth of my daily commute.

I'd like to point out none of my reviews have been removed from any site and if you put as much effort into dealing with customers issues as you do into reporting negative reviews and trying to get them removed, I would probably of never of had to write this in the first place.

As I write this my car is booked in to have the timing chain done at cost to myself. LMC have failed to reply to an email sent 2 days ago, they do however have time to reply to negative reviews.

Honestly, I don't think any resolution could ever make up for all of the distress and upset you have caused both me and my husband since October 2023 and continue to do so. Worst experience of buying a car ever, aftersales customer service none existent. How you can say you pride yourselves on customer service is laughable.

Dear Caz-Lou,

As this is a duplicate review based on Mr Bradbury's review, please see the response below:

Dear Mr Bradbury,
We appreciate your feedback and appreciate the time that you have taken to leave this review. I understand that you are currently in talks with our management team regarding a resolution to the issues you have had.

Please note that your previous reviews have been removed by the respective websites due to the language used, personal information that was shared, and a number of other policy infractions.

We would like to take the opportunity to add some context to the statements you have made and hopefully provide a more balanced perspective for anybody who may read this review.

You reported an issue with a suspected stretched timing chain on your 2015 Mercedes A class in October 2023, and brought the vehicle back in to us for diagnosis and repair 3 days later. As our service centre does not specialise in this area, we arranged for the work to be completed by a local trusted specialist, who had a significant wait time, this and the thorough road test which you have mentioned, led to a longer than average wait time for your vehicle to be returned which we apologise for. Please note that the average mileage for a diesel car, is circa 10,000 miles per year, which is on average 192 miles per week, this plus the delivery back to your home address is not extraordinary.

The allegation of theft you have made towards our staff is unacceptable and unsubstantiated. To confirm, we are not disputing whether or not the assorted items, were in the car when it came back to us, merely that we are not thieves. We have also offered to replace the items on the list you provided us with, which consisted of, 1 hair bobble, 1 plastic carrier bag, 1 multipack of chewing gum, 1 back of butter mints and multiple charging cables as a gesture of goodwill.

As mentioned, we are actively trying to resolve this situation for you, we apologise for the inconvenience and struggles with communication you have faced during your purchase, we hope we can reach a satisfactory resolution.

Kind regards
Lowton Motor Company

Terrible experience at Lowton Motor Company

Car purchase from Hell. 9.5k on a car with multiple issues. They had my car back for repairs after a month and it was a complete nightmare. 5 weeks with no car, and an additional 250 miles on the clock which is claimed to be road test miles. Personal possesions are missing and the repairs have been not carried out.
Lots of promised call backs, courtesy cars that never happen. The most stressful experience of my life, and im left with a vehicle with timing chain issues. Seems difficult to leave bad reviews for this company as they keep getting them removed.

Picked up my new Range Rover today and could not have been happier By the service Paul Jeffers gave me. From start to finish the service was smooth and surprisingly fast. I needed the car ready a day earlier and Paul did an outstanding job to get that sorted for me. Excellent service by Paul and would recommend the company to friends and family

Very disappointing customer service

*Update - after posting the review I have now received the refund.

Very disappointing customer service. I rang up on Monday 13th of November to book a viewing on a car for the Wednesday. They took a £250 deposit which they assured me would be paid back if I changed my mind but as they thought the car might be popular they recommended reserving it so I could have first refusal. I thought the amount was strange as it was only advertised as a £99 deposit on Auto Trader but didn’t question it so that is my error. Went to see the car on the Wednesday when we arrived, they couldn’t find me on the system which was worrying as I’d paid £250 deposit. When they finally located me, the car wasn’t ready. It had the wheels off which were having the alloys cleaned. I was prepared to wait, but then upon looking at the car, it hadn’t even been valeted yet and there were still scratches and dents to be sorted. The staff were very assuring and promised that all would’ve been sorted should I wish to buy the car but I was disappointed as I had an appointment so they knew I was coming. I would’ve at least expected the car to have been valeted. As it happens, I managed to find another car from a different dealer so rang up on Friday to request my deposit to be refunded. I had a phone call from the lady I dealt with when viewing the car on Monday 20th confirming a follow-up appointment on the Wednesday, but I had to tell her that I’d rung up on the Friday before requesting the deposit be refunded as I no longer wanted the car. Clearly poor communication within the team there and no one had processed my refund. A week went by and still no deposit so I then had to ring up again on Friday 24th November when I spoke to another gentleman who took my card details and said that the deposit wouldn’t have been refunded as nobody had taken my card details. He said it should be processed within 2 to 3 working days. We are now nearly 3 weeks on from the initial phone call and still no deposit. I have called a further 2 times, on 30th November and again today 6th December and the refund still hasn’t been processed. I was told today that it will be done but I was also told it would be done the last 2 times I have called so I feel like I have no choice now but to go through my credit card company to get that money back. I’m very disappointed with the service received as they had such good reviews.

not great experience but will see how it pans out.

I'm leaving this review after holding back for long enough, and to see if ill be sorted out, but not a good experience ill list things now:

Sales seemed ok buying and getting promises and reassurances

pickup/delivery was delayed. not too much of an issue but i did book and plan a holiday which the car was needed but not to worry things happen.. , but as soon as you drive away seems like your on your own.. even with "EXTENDED WARRANTY"

the car had chip on the paint on the door (promised to be sorted but not yet)
few dents and scuffs "which I sorted myself was told they would refund the costs" and didnt.. £144 they were not there when I viewed the car..
I later found that one of the track rods was damaged unable to adjust to correct the steering tracking, later they did replace both for me after arguing, (thanks for that)
whilst i found this out also the alloy wheels have welds and cracks which is a MOT failure .. but yet it passed..
also noticed the engine under tray was cracked and the exhaust was flatted and dented and a crack/hole which I replaced myself but not with a "OEM" i thought a stainless one would last longer and good value for the money,. £550
the car was acting strange and poor fuel economy, so i got it tested on a dyno and a live data read . to find the turbo is over boosting/spooling , and in need of replacement .
the warranty I paid for £2000 is no use and not valid the company Autoguard warranties is no good according to reviews and my own experience . would be nice to get a refund on this.. even other car company's have stopped using them due to not paying out.

this car was a treat for me due to going through a hard time and my first German car but I feel I made a mistake I was blocked on WhatsApp by the salesman "joe" ive been in contact with one of the service engineers "muzzy" which has been polite and fairly helpful but not yet got to the bottom of sorting things out... yet

the rear tyres are also cracked and low tread depth on the inner side .. again MOT advisory/fail.. which is not safe

wiper blades also advisory , this is all after a official Mercedes Health check.

ive also not received the V5c document ..

I paid full whack for the car but after all this it hits hard i really wanted to be a happy customer and leave good feedback and even return and recommend to others .. I'm not the only unhappy customer either ..

also android auto isn't available unless i pay £300 to merc but it was on the spec list on the cars listing

please please please make this right and help me out

Thanks

***REPLY TO REPLY***

Hello and thanks for taking the time out to reply to my review,
ive tried to sort out things initially and things only started happening when I left reviews and went beyond my politeness and understanding.
and you need to understand that people/customers are going to feel scared and thinking you are going to humour them or string them along, and other reviews can make you wary, and because of the time scale I didnt want to leave it too long or drag it out .

the delivery was delayed twice and things weren't done which I was promised, I think a lot of this is a sales person issue name stated above, stone chip on bonnet, and battery issue, all now sorted by myself. I have chat logs which have been forwarded previously. never the less cracked alloys and welds and tyres with cracks in should have been either mot fail or advisory or sorted.. this was all mentioned before your "3 week 600 mile" statement the car was booked in and the trackrods replaced not the chip on the door which is now in the workshop as of 14th and picked up tomorrow 15th again after the review on the other site but was told few days ago it would be a long wait into next year.. see my point
id rather of had to wait for the car to be ready at the point of sale due to issues which would be sorted than getting it not ready or with issues hope you understand. the service timer was reset, but i dont have confidence anything was done i.e oil and filter etc. . the last owners sold the car in July 2022 and it would have been stood, hence the battery issue , i have been in contact with them and they stated 2 front tyres replaced but the rear ones would need doing at some point ive even got a receipt from merc and Parelli in the paperwork.. so this proves my initial point , im thinking safety here not just perfection if the tyre blew out on the motorway due to splitting alloys and cracked rear tyres it does not only impact me and my partner but other road users .
when i went to pick up the car it was running on the front with no one around joe was not even in.. and it was raining.. and darkish.. due to time of year.. so i only noticed the dents in the sun light around a week or so later.. give or take the guy that was there had things on paperwork like the door chip.. the car has no remap i was told it was standard. exhaust was smelling and damaged hence why i sorted it, v62 form i had to do :( thx

Dear Mr Westbrook,

It is our understanding that your complaint is ongoing with our management team and 3rd party Warranty Provider at the moment. We were disappointed to receive your negative review on our services after our team has been working tirelessly to address your areas of concern and working towards a resolution.

Nevertheless, we appreciate the time you have taken to leave your feedback and understand your frustrations. We would like to offer some more information to provide clarity and a more balanced perspective.

Firstly, we do apologise that the collection of your vehicle was delayed, we have a very rigorous post sale preparation process including but not limited to; ensuring the vehicle has been serviced if required, carrying out a 125-point pre-delivery inspection and getting an MOT test completed by a licensed MOT Tester.

Once the above has been completed, the car is prepared for handover by our Valet team, and then inspected by the Sales Executive completing the handover. It is important to note that we have no reports of damage to the vehicle from any of the afore mentioned staff during this process. We also understand you conducted your own thorough inspection of the vehicle on collection and reported the damage after the vehicle was taken off our premises.

We booked an appointment for you to bring the vehicle back in to investigate your concerns after some 3 weeks of ownership and 600 miles had been driven, we investigated the turbo issue which was found to be a possible result of an engine control unit re-map. We also repaired the issue with the track rods as you mentioned.

It is our understanding that the issues surrounding your warranty are due to modifications that have been completed on the vehicle since the purchase, however this is being dealt with separately by our warranty partner.

We have noted the comments regarding being ‘blocked on WhatsApp’ and will investigate this separately, however as you are now communicating directly with the management team, please ensure all future correspondence goes directly to them.

I want to assure you that Lowton Motor Company have no desire to cut costs on the preparation of our vehicles, especially not on safety aspects such as tyres and wiper blades, we have comprehensive check sheets which were completed before the collection of the vehicle which show the tread levels of each tyre at its lowest point. We are also inspected at random by the DVSA to ensure each and every completed MOT test is to their standard.

We have reviewed the sales advert on the vehicle to check for any discrepancy with regards to ‘android auto’ and have found no record of this being advertised on our website. If you can provide some more information as to which platform you have seen this on, we will be happy to investigate further.

Thank you for your patience during this ongoing matter, our management team will be contacting you directly to discuss the next steps.

Kind Regards
Lowton Motor Company
