Not an enjoyable experience
At the beginning I was happy with the support from Open Law. Team was willing to listen and engage.
However, I found myself losing confidence and at times patience with Open Law.
At times I felt like I needed to know the 'Art of Law' regarding house moving and have the knowledge to understand. This is despite me telling the Team on MULTIPLE occasions that they need to be a bit more clear to someone who may not understand the process well.
I believe the team at Open Law can learn more about effective communication and person centred supported. At one stage I was told I was not a priority as other clients needed to get their deals in place to avoid increase in stamp duty. I did not appreciate being told I was not a priority.
The entire process with Open Law did leave a bitter taste in my mouth despite a good early start with them.
I only chose Open Law as they were recommended to me.
I hate to leave a negative comment but I feel critical feedback needs to be given.
Advice - active listening, effective communication and person centred training is required for the team at Open Law.

Great solicitors
Really good experience, the solicitors were all very on it and made a lot of progress without our input. Thank you very much. My only slight comment would be it would have been nice to have an online portal type thing where we could see what stage we were at the process, saving us clogging up the email inbox with update requests.

Excellent choice of firm by Executors
I am so pleased that the Executors of an estate with which I am involved chose Lisa and her team at Open Law to handle a flat sale. very happy First Time Buyer!
As a first time buyer the whole experience of purchasing a home is daunting and anxiety inducing. Kim's Team at Open Law were my rock throughout the entire process. Everyone I spoke to was so kind, down to earth and patient with me and it was very much appreciated. They maintain a polite directness in their legal guidance - there was never any communication between us without clarity. Horrendous! Rude, patronising and they'll hold you to ransom
Too much to go into here but avoid avoid avoid! They will charge you and double charge you at will and threat to not do the job if you don't. Don't believe your quote as you'll need to double it and more. So rude and unprofessional. You're expected to have the knowledge of a lawyer and they will blame everything on anyone but taking responsibility for their own faults. Horrendous experience.

We have an amazing team of people who work considerably hard to work in the best interest of all our clients, but unfortunately, there are on occasions whereby we cannot please everyone despite the incredible efforts made. We are unable to challenge openly the content and context of this review.
However, we hope that the below information will show our approach to the transparency in which we deal with costs relating to our legal services to all future and prospective clients.
* QUOTE - All clients are provided with a quote. This is based on the information that we are provided in relation to legal service sought. We caveat the quote to state if any additional services and/or work is required which is beyond the quoted work that this could be subject to additional costs whether this is hourly and/or fixed fees.
* LETTER OF ENGAGEMENT – On acceptance of the quote, all clients are provided with a letter of engagement which sets out costs (based on their accepted quote), terms of business and an additional fee list for any out-of-scope fees.
For example, if quoted based on a freehold purchase but later transpires to be a leasehold or new build, we will inform the client of the additional associated costs including any associated third party costs.
* CLIENT INSTRUCTS OPEN LAW - We do not undertake any legal work until the signed terms of business has been received.
* INITIAL REPORT - On a purchase for example, we will provide a client with an initial report. If applicable, we will inform the client in writing if their matter is subject to additional costs. This maybe because unquoted type of work which requires additional work and or is subject to third-party costs which is outside the control of Open Law.
However, this does not happen in all cases as the information as we often receive at the quote stage will lead to the full transparency as to all expected costs.
* UNFORESEEN LEGAL ISSUES- If during the transaction, circumstances arise in which out of scope work is required i.e if a deed of variation, rectification, mutual easements and covenant - we would again, advise in writing the details of the issue, provide the options for remedying and the costs associated for all out of scope work. No work is undertaken until this is agreed with a client. This is to ensure in accordance with our obligations as an SRA regulated law firm that we are clear and transparent in respect of costs and that this is no "hidden" or "unforeseen" costs. Again, Open Law cannot be held responsible for any additional legal work which is required due to a title defect which was previously unknown at the quote stage.
* LENDER REQUIREMENTS - If a client is funding their transaction with the benefit of a mortgage there may be additional legal work and/or fees payable to satisfy their requirements. Again, this is not a consequence of Open Law but a title defect which needs to be resolved with full compliance of their lender’s specific requirements of which a seller may be unwilling to pay.
* COMPLETION STATEMENT - a completion statement is provided in advance of completion which details clearly all charges and costs which have been incurred. We request all clients to review the statement prior to completion.
We hope the above information, will show our honest and open approach as to how we deal with costs and we reiterate that we will not charge you any costs for which you did not have advance warning of and/or whereby we did not have consent to proceed.

My review is been removed because it is contains a name of solicitor who is dealing with my ex partner house purchase and I am also on clients list, which is confirmed by email.
My review is been deleted very unfair, saying that it contains the name HOLLIE, but if you look on positive reviews its every review has it names of solicitors, but for some reasons that dosent breach a rules, so how come? Dosent make a sence, so you only remove reviews with names where is negative, but positive is ok?
It takes weeks just to reply on single email, no updates on the case, no explanation, lack of comunication and so unprofessional! AVOID THIS FIRM, ESPECIALLY fee earner who called HOLLIE! ALSO SHE IS VERY VERY RUDE!
