Avoid... They allocate payments where they choose
Terrible...if you set up a credit agreement then you expect to have your payments taken as agreed, but not with PayPal credit.
I made a purchase using the interest free offer as I knew I'd get some money to pay off a big chunk of it so by the time the 4 months came I'd have it all cleared off. But no... PayPal decided to use the lump sum paid to pay off the smaller agreement plan that I had set up for 6-12 months. Not realising what happened as its not very clear, I now have less than 2 months to find the funds to pay off the bigger purchase.
This should not be allowed as we use credit as long as we can manage the payments, but when the company decides to allocate funds towards different balances as it suits them, then it messes us up financially.
I will be paying it off and then closing down the credit account. Does not make any sense to use it.
STAY AWAY FROM PAYPAL CREDIT
I was given a $5,200 credit limit, only for PayPal to reduce it to $3,600 after six months of on-time payments. My balance was $3,400, so by them doing this, my credit utilization will report at 95%, which is going to drastically hurt my credit. I was never late on a payment; I will never use PayPal again.
Be warned, they do not play by the rules.
Very, very sneaky way of conducting business. I set up a credit agreement with them and they were supposed to take the money out of my bank account each month. They deliberately didn't take the money so they could hit me with late payment fees. They should have done this as they have now forced me into a corner and I will have to report them to the financial ombudsman. They are destroying their own reputation all for a few pounds. I won't allow them to break the rules like this.
Paypal Credit is a complete shambles
Paypal Credit is a complete shambles, each time you speak to an advisor they give you a completely different explanation to what has happened, I will never take another paypal credit account! direct debits fail then you are penalised for the errors caused by paypal giving incorrect information, DO NOT USE PAYPAL CREDIT!!
DO NOT USE PAYPAL CREDIT
If I could rate this zero stars, I absolutely would. I made some purchases using PayPal Credit and received emails stating, "Your online statement is available," but never once received a payment reminder. I always pay off my credit in full and on time—never just the minimum.
Out of the blue, I started getting alerts on my phone and via email saying my payment was overdue and that I’d been charged interest. Again, no prior reminder.
When I finally got through to their so-called customer service (after battling with the chatbot), I received a generic, copy-pasted response from their terms and conditions—which made no sense at all. When I asked for clarification, they claimed interest was charged because I missed the minimum payment in March. Once again, I reminded them that I never received any notification. They insisted I had—I absolutely had not.
I’ve now paid it off in full and will be sticking with more transparent and respectful companies like Klarna or ClearPay for any future credit needs.
I wish I went through the review before…
I wish I went through the review before signing up for the 6 months installments payment. It's being a nightmare.. Total regret. Staff has zero knowledge or empathy. PLEASE DO NOT SIGN UP WITH PAYPAL CREDIT
PayPal Credit is committing financial fraud. Without warning or explanation
Without warning or explanation, £288 was taken from my account. When I called customer service, they refused to explain the charge and told me to “read the statement myself.” When I pushed for answers, they abruptly ended the call.
This is not a one-off the same thing happened to my neighbor. PayPal is taking money without consent or transparency. This is theft, plain and simple. I’m closing my account and urging others to do the same. We need to speak out before more people are affected.
Did not get some goods from a vendor…
Did not get some goods from a vendor opened a case they rejected it so I have paid for goods I dont have !!!

Do not use 💣☠️⚡️
The worst financial decision I made was using PayPal Credit. The lack of real-time banking means that arranged payments take a day to clear. If you’re on a tight budget, this could lead to bounced payments and a £12 late payment fee. My credit score has been negatively affected by these late payments. I recently managed to pay off the entire balance and close the account. I strongly advise against using it.
PayPal Credit is awful
PayPal Credit is awful. The 6 month interest free is great but ultimately don't fall for an account with them. They closed my account and since its a Synchrony account, they closed all synchrony accounts, Mastercard, Amazon, Etc. Which made up a very large part of my credit limit and history.
It started when I made a payment, and then decided to cancel it as I need to move some money around first and wanted to assure it would cleared. Well it turns out it was never canceled, the bank notified me of the attempt 2 day later. I had went a step further the day of cancelling because of the payment amount, I reached out to support and they assured me it is canceled and I also have a confirmation email of the cancellation, I wish I had recorded the chat transcript but Im sure they have it somewhere. I was also weeks before my due date for a minimum payment.
Well after this, they closed all the accounts. I would understand if it was past due or something.
Because they had did this, I decided to not pay it off yet, because now I lost the majority of my credit line, and I would of been in a pinch if a emergency arises which is has and I'm glad I waited. I have been reaching out 2-3 times a month for 3-4 months now to setup a payment plan and they refuse every time, without any reasoning. I will continue to apply for a payment plan until they accept some kind of agreement. It will likely go to collections and IM sure I can do a payment plan with them. Just frustrating. You would of been paid if you didn't eliminate my credit line out of the blue!
Feel free to reach out if you would like to work with me so I can start making payments again!
Absolutely the most confusing credit…
Absolutely the most confusing credit service possible. Statements are impossible to understand. They claim you can have interest-free credit but slap you with all sorts of fees that do not make sense. The worst is when I tried to make payment, there are repeatedly errors on Paypal's end causing my payments to be late. Absolutely frustrating and I want nothing to do with Paypal Credit anymore.
Buyers beware - Terrible service and no buyer protection
Buyers beware. I was expecting to be covered by PayPal's buyer protection on a dispute regarding a defective item but PayPal decided in the seller's favour, despite me showing proof of the item being defective.
Their partial refund claim is a joke, as somehow their terrible customer service still expects you to return the item and get a partial refund only. Terrible service and no buyer protection. Cannot wait to close my account and never use PayPal for any transactions, not no mention for PayPal credit.
Dirty play
I recently purchased an item with an agreed 0% Apr 30 month repayment for a phone, first month repayment came out no problem, second month apparently my debit card wasn't set up for payment, got charged a £12 late payment fee, called up and luckily got the payment fee back because I had already set it up and they knew this by looking at the computer their side, furthermore I decided I'll just pay it off in full because I can't trust PayPal credit, come to a month later and I'm charged 4p as I guess an early settlement fee which they don't even state, so basically don't bother with PayPal credit they are a dirty company and just want to screw people.

Not looking forward to phone calls tomorrow
Just all round terrible
Agreements are agreed to when you buy things like splitting the payment into 3 or even 24 installments but they don't stick with this, terrible customer service and ultimately so confusing. Was meant to pay about 30 a month for 2 years but then they tried charging me more than 3 installments in one month and when I called to see what was going on they couldn't give me an answer at all. They are useless don't go there and there interest rate are crazy so yeah avoid at all cost
Worst Customer Service in The Industry
Worst Customer Service in The Industry
I am helping a client settle a past due account. On Dec 30th 2 different agents offered the same amount. They both said they would fax the settlement letter and the faxes never came. They also said a paper letter would be mailed which never arrived.
Now that we called to actually pay the agreed upon amount, they are asking for more by 30%.
They keep putting us on hold and never coming back.
Paypal is as shady as can be. Never ever will I have a Paypal account. Shady and unlawful.
Warning
Warning! Never open a PayPal business account or never link the PayPal app to your website!
Extremely bad experience with the PayPal payment app. on our websites! Payments are held for 21 days and the fee for their wake. "services" is extremely high!
Opening a business account was an absolute disaster, I spent 4 weeks trying to open a business account, everything went wrong! No mutual communication between the help centers, you are really asked to do everything about the information that your company requires you to provide. Ultimately, I also requested a completely incomprehensible fatca statement, which can actually only be completed by your accountant, but I was unable to get the fatca approved despite several attempts.
Software in the app. is hopeless, many parts do not function, for example uploading company data and there is no notification whether this is successful or not, you just have to guess.
Finally, after 4.5 weeks of attempts, I stopped and closed the account. Paypal is really outdated, hopelessly bad, even 1 star is still considerably too much! Advice: never start!! There are much better payment apps around! I have deleted all my paypal payment apps on my website, stay far away from them!!
Paypal Credit services Direct debit
Direct debit failed every month, about 6 months, each time I was calling and asking what the reason. They were saying this is rejected by my bank, well.. what the reason why they have rejected? They couldn't tell me. So I contacted the bank, they checked and told me that Direct Debit wasn't even requested from my account and told me to provide from PayPal confirmation what the reason Bank has given when rejected Direct Debit. PayPal couldn't give this.
I have asked PayPal to review my interest rate in this case and reduce my interest rate as service is so poor, and I have spent so much time sorting it out. Where the operator told me this is what I have signed for. No comment, I didn't sign for poor service and customer care.
If I didn't see that Direct Debit is not coming out from my account, this will affect my credit score. Wow, this is best what they can do
Stay away
Shocking waste of time , they set up a direct debit over the phone used a old account which should of been taken off there system that I haven’t got access to anymore and blamed myself for there mistake ,given wrong information and transferred to different departments that I needed to go to , how this company getting away with these services, then got refused putting a complaint in , well know to the Financial ombudsman
