Poor delivery
The delivery driver left my order by our front gate in the pouring rain. These is a covered porch 10 metres beyond the gate is perfect view. I spent hours rescuing my seed potatoes from the soaking wet bag. I just hope they will be ok.

The delivery is part of our overall service to our customer however this part is out of our control once the parcel leaves our farm and we rely on our customers to let us know about any issue.
I see that you have not contacted us about the delivery. We can only complain to the courier about their service if we know that there is a problem.
If any goods are damaged in transit we always put this right for our customer. However we do need to know that there is an issue to put right.
Please note that seed potatoes are very sturdy and would need to be completely submerged for days for any long-term damage. Our bags are also very sturdy and can withstand most weather and transport conditions.
Please email amy@potatohouse.co.uk with your concerns about the delivery and please send some pictures of the tubers and we can help ascertain if they are viable or not.

The seed potatoes were well packaged and delivered at the time expected. I set them up to chit right away, and there were no suspect or damaged tubers at all It's up to me now.

Use them every year
I can always get the varieties I want as their range of seed potatoes is extensive. The information on each variety is detailed so if you do want to try a new type of potato you have all the information about it you need. When to harvest, size, best use eg boiling, roasting etc.

Although size isn't everything...
Although they were of good quality and within the accepted limits I thought that the majority of the tubers were too small to plant. Disappointing .
When I pointed out that I had contacted them prior to writing the review my request for a change in their response I was ignored.

I have had a look at your order and I see that you have not contacted us about this issue and as you don't mention the size of the tubers in your review, I can only answer in general terms.
The potatoes are within accepted limits but were too small is very contradictory!
Expectations of what a seed potato should be vary from each customer and some like the smallest possible, while other like large potatoes to cut up. We go over the sizes and variations of sizes in a FAQ and also on a tab on each variety. We include pictures here to show size and variation in size that you may get in your pack and hope to be as transparent as we can about this. At check out we ask our customers if they have read this information. Potatoes are a natural product and differences between varieties and different years are normal. All our seed has been certified.
Seed Potatoes are generally much smaller than the eating equivalent. Unless otherwise stated, we sell our potatoes as 35mm which is the industry standard across the UK. The legal limit for UK seed potatoes is 25mm. We abide by the rules set in The Seed Potatoes (Scotland) Regulations 2015
All tubers over 35mm (indeed 25mm) will produce a healthy plant with a great yield, unless of course there is a problem with blight, beasties or some other factor such as weather.
However, we are human and mistakes can happen as we are working with a natural product . You don't say what the size of your tubers are and so if you think that any of the tubers fall below 35mm, please put them against a ruler and then send a pic to amy@potatohouse.co.uk

With apologies to this reviewer. This review only had the first name and the order was under their initials. When looking through the orders I filtered for any recent ones from that first name, assuming the order would be under the same name, and cross-referenced with correspondence.
This reviewer DID contact us in mid January, to say that thier 6 tuber net was 264g.
Potato House replied to this to say that the legal limit (as stated on the label) was 150g and so the net was almost double the required size.
Unfortunately, the customer did not receive this reply.
This reviewer has a lovely heritage variety in the order. We are proud to be one of only a few growers keeping these varieties alive. If we had to sell larger seed potatoes, more of the crop would be unviable and therefore the price would go up.
We know that the rules that we follow do not live up to the expectations that some customers have about Seed Potatoes. Consequently, we aim to be as open as we can be on our web page about all aspects of buying and growing seed potatoes, this includes mentioning size. We welcome all reviews as they show the differing expectations.
We are looking forward to updates all season about these lovely potatoes.
