Excellent delivery

Excellent delivery, kept informed all along the way. Excellent product, so lightweight and comfortable, not to mention stylish. Very happy

Excellent customer service from…

Excellent customer service from Ridgemont, the shipment container experienced delays due to the UK leaving the EU on January 1st; but I was informed and assured all along the way. Very pleased with my new shoes, love them. Hats off to the team on what must have been a very stressful time for them. Well done!

What can I say

What can I say - just received my 2nd pair of shoes this year from Ridgemont (I had ordered the Heritage boot at discount for winter wear and now the Monty lo for Spring / Summer). Both pairs are lightweight, stylish, well made, offering excellent vfm, extremely comfortable and arrived within 2 days of ordering. The heritage has been through ice, snow, flooded fields and remained completely watertight. Although the Monty is not waterproof (only resistant) it will be perfect for drier days walking around towns and cities. I cannot understand the negative reviews by some on TP - many seem to be written by those who pre-ordered shoes and were moaning about the delay in delivery (well, what did they expect for a pre-order?!). Ridgemont are currently my go to for hiking and leisure footwear and I am sure I will be back.

Really awful

Delay, delay, delay. When the shoes did arrive in UK they had forgotten to send my order. Had to chase for updates and offered a full refund which I accepted. I then had to chase after them for the refund

This is just a complete scam

This is just a complete scam, it seems. I have been trying to get my refund for a bag I never got. It has been more than 6 months now and they only respond with bad excuses and only when I contact them. Don`t waist your money here.

Nice boots

Nice boots. Pictures do not show sole of boot. I wanted a more rugged tread pattern so had to send them back but lovely fit and comfortable.

Fine, but not the premium I was expecting

I have ordered and recieved my monty hi tops and can report that I find the shoe adequate. I don't feel it lives up to the marketing, but the product suffices. I will elaborate further:

The shoe itself suits my preference for a hi top design both in my walking boots, work shoe and now trainers. They look stylish and can be strapped up, I don't like a loose laced shoe. The upper construction however doesn't look altogether more expensive than a much cheaper shoe. It's fine, but you can get a similar finish from high Street shops at half the price. I think the biggest problem in its construction is that the materials used mix a seemingly nice suede with a seemingly cheep nylon (?) panel, when I am used to different materials that incorporate some breathable tech like goretex. Even a much cheaper shoe can be found with a more complex range of materials. Alternatively, the mix might be far more waterproof.
The insole is also fine but of course nowhere near the degree of comfort of my old Merrels or Solomons. They are much more comfortable than Brasher which are far too tough for my preference. My current walking boot is actually an Adidas which I've been very pleased with. The Monty isn't even as comfortable as my cheap Sports Direct low cut trainer. It's not terrible, it's just fine.
The outsole is pretty grippy and I'm pleased with the durometer / hysterisis of the rubber. It's no Continental or Vibrasole but then I'm not planning on taking it up Tryfan. It being flat front to rear, like a skateshoe with greater luggs is not to my taste and I'd prefer a shoe with some degree of heel to the outsole.
Overall, it's fine. But at £100, I'll not be buying another, it simply isn't economical enough to warrant brand allegiance. My biggest concern is that the marketing model uses pressure tactics of 'limited quantity' and marketing emails ladden with emojis to press you to purchase. My impression is that much of the cost of the shoe is spent on clever marketing, a fancy website and targeted advertising (which is how I came across the brand). I guess I was expecting something that looked a little more premium.
I'll wear the shoe until it is too scuffed for 'best', then I'll beat the crap out of it in mud and rocks, and then I'll look to another brand for its replacement.

Many thanks, the Ridgemont team.

Poor quality and even poorer customer…

Poor quality and even poorer customer service
I purchased a pair of Outback IIs in October 2019. At first I was impressed by their comfort, however, by December 2020 they had worn down so much at the heel that a small hole appeared. I have to say I wore these shoes no more or no less than any other shoes I own, they weren't worn constantly by any stretch. As a result of this wear the boots have become unusable in wet conditions because water is sucked up through the sole and soaks the insole leaving you with a soaked foot.

I emailed Ridgemont UK in December 2020 to inform them that I was disappointed that a product that they market on their website as a hiking boot had worn through and become useless in less than 14 months and asked whether it was possible to repair them. I also sent them photos of the boots as evidence that aside from the problem with the sole they were in a fine condition. Ridgemont UK responded stating that they use gum rubber for better grip and comfort and that this is results in a softer sole. They didn't address the request for a repair but did offer me a 20% discount off a replacement pair. This would require me to spend an additional £103 to get a functional pair of boots. Given these boots were on a sale price at the time of £109, Ridgemont's response was to basically buy a new pair.

Because of the nature of the sole on these boots I can't get them repaired via a third party, so these are basically for the bin. £129 for 14 months worth of wear is unacceptable by anybody's standards, however Ridgemont UK don't seem to want to acknowledge this. I followed up with an explicit request for either a repair, a replacement, or a refund, as is my right under the Consumer Rights Act as I don't believe their product is of a satisfactory quality, fit for the purpose they've described on their website, and it certainly hasn't lasted a reasonable amount of time for the price paid. Again, this was rejected and an offer of a 20% discount reiterated.

My experience with Ridgemont UK has been really poor, they have been dismissive of my concerns and even informed me that they were 'glad to see you’ve had so much use out of them'. Sorry I wouldn't describe 14 months use as 'so much use' and I certainly won't recommend their products to anyone.

Knowing your posterior from your elbow...

I finally got a reply from Ridgemont after complaining on here, Facebook, Instagram and to their customer service team, over a period of weeks. Except they still got it wrong, they haven't sent me a pair of shoes like they claim, they tried to refund me, this hasn't gone through and I'm told it will go through on the 21st Jan.

My advice to anyone pursuing a product or a refund from this company is to keep trying you may get there in the end. Thoroughly awful experience and Covid and ports really don't cut it as an excuse after this level of incompetence.
