An excellent service from start to finish

The process of making our wills with Simpler Law was extremely easy.
A phone appointment was made to suit us and we had a phone call to check this could go ahead as planned.
The gentleman who phoned to complete our wills, was clear and able to clarify anything we weren't sure of. He was able to offer valuable advice.
The wills arrived after a few weeks for us to check and have signed. We had this checked to make sure they were signed correctly.
An excellent service from start to finish.

Cannot recommend

Cannot recommend, wanted a simple 2 person will, the basic will writing service seems to be a route to get you on the phone and upsell you other expensive products. We were advised to put our house in a trust at well over £1000, despite being middle aged and we may need the asset capital for unknown events, and even though I expressed concerns, the salesperson, they are not solicitors, got a bit insistent rather than saying think about it, and I felt under pressure. It was not easy to cancel despite several emails which went unanswered, in the end I had to do a credit card claim back to have my money refunded, just go to a real solicitor for genuine advice.

Response to their reply:
Just to be clear I felt pressured and the 'consultant' came across as very pushy, at no point were we asked what we wanted to achieve, which was a simple will. It was deliberately upsold that we needed additional services.
The position that they needed to speak with us both to cancel is at best legally dubious, and just seems like a way to frustrate cancelling, hence I was able to achieve a refund via a credit card charge back. They were contacted multiple times by email and I had no response.
Avoid!

Dear Reviewer,

Our Wills & Estate Planning consultants are not salespeople, the consultation in which you received professional and optional advice was included within the price of the Will. All advice you were given was relevant and subject to your situation. What you do with this information is entirely up to you, you may choose to take all, some, or none of our advice.

We have never claimed to be solicitors; we are industry leading, award winning specialist Estate Planning professionals with combined experience of over 50 years in the industry.
We would like to advise you that Estate Planning as an industry is not regulated. In fact, we were part of a Government review which advised the sector should be. The Government ignored this. Which is why we launched our Customer Care Charter to state clearly on our website what is expected of our employees when dealing with the public and to give clients peace of mind that we have their best interests at the forefront. For your reference it can be found here: www.simplerlaw.co.uk/customer-care-charter

In your case, it was clear there was conflict of interest and instead of thinking about it and discussing it further with your loved ones, you chose to take this out on us via a review and accuse us of both ignoring and pressuring you. The reason it was difficult to cancel, was due to the fact the cancellation would affect your partner also, who we needed to speak to on the phone as well to confirm both of your wishes. We made it clear last year that we would need to speak to your partner, however, we never received the chance.

We apologise that we did not contact you on the date we stated but you have ignored all subsequent attempts to contact you.

I was a bit shocked and surprised when halfway through the conversation the Lady mentioned about the extra Fees to set up a trust. £1,789 it actually threw me for a minute. I wasn’t expecting that. I just wanted a Will so my 3 Children knew what was what. I was totally confused at first. I thought she said £179 but my wife jumped in and said no it was the higher price. I honestly believe it was and is a bit steep. I lost all trust in the process but carried on with the lady to just do the standard Will. If I knew that this was going to be a shakedown I would’ve cancelled the whole thing and asked for my money back. I couldn’t or wouldn’t recommend this Company to anyone for their underhanded way it was just slipped in.

Dear Reviewer,

We are confused about your review.

At Simpler Law, we like to emphasise that our clients are free to take all, some or even none of our advice, and still proceed with the Family & Estate Will as you did and proceed with no additional protection i.e. a Trust.

As you were within the cooling off period when you left this review (as you are at time of writing), you did have chance to cancel and receive a full refund if you were unhappy. This is all stated in our Terms of Business which you will have received.

It is common knowledge that establishing a Trust costs more than a Family & Estate Will. However, it is not about the price, but the value for your loved ones when you have one in place.

Your consultant is one of our Senior Wills & Estate Planning consultants, and we are sorry that you felt you lost trust once you were informed of the price of an additional and optional service/protection.

Lastly, we have made attempts to contact you to rectify any issues you have and inform you that you were still within your cooling off period. We did not receive the chance to speak with you so could not notify you of this sooner.

I spoke to a lovely lady Danielle who made me feel relaxed and comfortable before we started to complete my Will. Danielle was professional, helpful and explained everything as we went through the documents, checking I was happy with it before moving onto the next part. I would definately recommend Simpler Law to anyone who wants or is thinking about sorting out their Will, this can be a daunting thing to do for some people, but Danielle and all the staff at Simpler Law will help you every step of the way
