I contacted this group in the fall of 2025. They told me that they I needed to upload notices as I received them and their power of attorney would protect me from wage garnishment. I uploaded the documents for levies and garnishment immediately to their portal, and they had every opportunity to handle this issue 2 months before this garnishment, and they didn’t. My wages were garnished and I’m now struggling to pay my bills, because I trusted them and their services and promises. I’m seeking a refund of services because they didn’t fulfill their obligations to me which is why I employed them in the first place. I did everything they told me to do and their AI assistant kept telling me that I shouldn’t contact the State or the IRS because their Tax professionals are trained for this. Their AI assistant told me I did what I was asked and that Taxrise could have done better at communicating so this didn’t happen. I asked for help to make sure this didn’t happen and I’m worse off for trusting them. They told me when I originally signed up that they would negotiate a lower settlement with the IRS and the State, but looking at other reviews I’m skeptical. Their AI assistant said they would treat this as urgent a week before the garnishment. I was in dire straits because of a surgery I had and I saw Tax Rise on social media saying they could help in situations like mine. I spoke with various individuals and later just their AI assistant. They all assured me that a power of attorney would protect me, and it didn’t.

My case was mishandled, I was left in the dark, my case went through so many different agents each one not reading notes on case or doing the research to stay updated on file. It was the worst experience with dealing with my taxes to date and in the end this company, got a resolution that only benefited them. By not communicating with me or even each other I now have to pay them and the IRS on a low income or I lose everything I have worked my life to get. This company is a SCAM!

**Update 5/13/2026**
I received a partial refund from them. However the entire issue is still not resolved. I’ve spoken with so many other people who had tax debt and got it nearly wiped out while I got none forgiven. I appreciate the $795 refund from the $3500 I paid but I’m still not 100% satisfied. I would have preferred to not get a refund from them but instead gotten more help in getting my tax debt decreased.

**update 4/21/26- raise responded and they did open a customer service ticket but no one has reached out. No one. I have a debt that is 11 years old with the IRS but they did not negotiate that amount. I still have to pay it. No negotiations on penalties. I owed the IRS $7500 and after working with raise, I owe $13k. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!

If I could give them zero stars I would. Zero transparency. Poor communication. They will not negotiate with the IRS. My debt amount did not decrease at all. The fees for the “work” they do is insanely too high. Do NOT use this company. I 100% regret it.

I am writing again about the absolutely incredible people who have been working with me and how they are promising to help me mitigate the tragic state I am in. From the very beginning when I first spoke to Nick W on the phone to Jake, and Stephen M...everyone has been so supportive and empathetic towards me and my situation. I am a nurse who works FT still at age 67 and has had my nursing license suspended due to Massachusetts state mandate on tax filing issues. The added stress I have endured because of this and my whole situation personally and financially has been overwhelming. This team whom I named above ( and probably a slew of other people working behind the scenes for me) have been a God send. I continue to pray for them, and I wish to extend a request for them to be recognized for the hard work they are doing on behalf of my livelihood. I need to get back to work and I am grateful for the personal , supportive, and continued relationship of trustworthiness and honest conversation we have had. Thank you again... TaxRise has been working on my tax debt for 6+ months now and have successfully done absolutely nothing. No reduced settlement, a payment plan worse than what I had before I started, no reduction in fees/interest... nothing. And they can't communicate worth a darn. They are worse than useless and have cost me thousands of dollars and stress and credit hits and everything.
DO NOT USE THEM! Not even to wash your car, much less settle your taxes.

The representative was patient, courteous, could answer all my questions.

I was on the phone with one of your representatives for over 1 hour and 20 minutes with assurance that Taxrise could my taxes removed. told me we qualitied. the then had me sign an agreement paying the Westlake company a monthly fee of $509.69 for 4 years. Now a different rep of your company telling me we do not qualify. He said he could get us a monthly payment with the IRS of over $600.00 which i cannot afford plus still paying Westlake $509.69. This is totally a scam and a guess my next move is to call the IRS myself and get an attorney.

The company step up quickly and help solve my issue am so grateful and honored by the way tax wise stands out for their customers and the business. Thanks again i really really appreciate you all.

I have a significant tax obligation based on my current limited income. The initial conversation focused on their investigation of taxes owed, a review of the investigation and tax relief services. There was a required initial fee which had to be paid just to retrieve and review of IRS tax records. After the review of the tax records, there was a "feel good" discussion about tax relief without specific dollar amounts or reasonable estimates on likely tax relief. Before this discussion could begin, they presented their fee for service. There was an aggressive pursuit to get "fee commitment documents" signed before any further discussions. Alone, TaxRise total fees were equivalent to 30% of my outstanding tax obligation, without a penny being negotiated. When questioned about potential tax liability savings, a vague "generalized" answer was given without expressing any possible/potential dollar estimate of realized tax reduction. With a future of only social security ahead, I ran the numbers and unless my tax liability was reduced by at least 70% (over 10 years), the tax liability and TaxRise fees (for 36 months) could consume over 45% of my social security income during the collection time period. The charging of fees without specific discussion of dollars to be saved, was unreasonable. It seems obvious that they wanted their fee, regardless of the dollar amount the tax liability would be reduced.

Excellent staff. Issues were resolved.

All my questions were answered and concerns addressed.

6/23/26. Update Well it's been a on going experience with Tax rise. Hell I'm not sure yet if it is over or if they are still screwing me around, was supposed to receive some paper work saying that I would not owe any money other than the 375 that I have lossed. But a month later and I don't know what is going on now. Stay tuned for the next update. I can only hope that anyone that is thinking about using this company, reads the reviews first. I didn't, and 375 dollars later which isn't bad compared to a lot of other people.So after the 375 they needed me to fill out the paperwork so they could get everything from the IRS. When I opened that up I was searching for the documents that I signed for, and I couldn't get to anything except what they the paperwork they wanted me to fill out. I did not proceed because the very first thing they wanted out of me, was my checking account routing number and my account number. And I thought if I can't see the paperwork I've signed and you want all that information. Then forget it. So as the day went on they wanted me to fill out that paperwork and I said I wanted to see the paperwork that I had signed for. Well three and a half days later I finally get an email with two pages that I supposedly signed for. since then I haven't said nothing and they haven't said nothing. And I'm just going to chalk it up that I'm probably out $375. Life learning lesson, I'm just so glad I did not proceed. The worst part about all this is, is that it's all started with me getting on a website called Fresh start. That company then goes through all your stuff and then sends your info to people like Tax rise and they call you and tell you they're going to help you. It's just that you're going to have to give them money before they're going to tell you how they're going to help you. All I can say is trust your gut feeling. It's usually right! As far as the $375 though, I guess I got a lot more reviews to do. Cuz I doubt I'll ever even hear from them.

Tax Rise has helped me file 5 years of back taxes after I had a major health scare that put my life on hold. They have amazing customer service and easy to navigate website.
