Above & beyond

This small uk business went above and beyond to sort out a delivery problem caused solely by their chosen carrier.
They always responded immediately upon receipt of my emails to solve the problem sending out a replacement which duly arrived …. followed by the original which they have kindly donated to the Salvation Armys Christmas present appeal.
The instrument its self is beautifully made & securely packaged , and I would have no hesitation in recommending this company .

A new Ukulele

I visited the shop to look for a new soprano ukulele but ended up buying a lovely concert ukulele. I was able to try out many instruments and choose the one that felt and sounded best for me.
The prices are reasonable, the staff really friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this place.

Amazing service

I wanted a ukulele delivered quickly having been let down elsewhere. Uke offered to send an instrument and I would pay if it arrived on time. It did even with a Royal Mail strike.
Good quality product. First class service.

Great product and customer service

I bought two Flight ukuleles and they are great quality for a low price. There were some shipping issues with the courier but communication from Uke Universe was excellent and the ukes arrived in reasonable time. I definitely recommend this small business!

A really frustrating and unpleasant experience...

In response to another poor review below Uke Universe respond with the cliché that “the customer is always right”. My experience is that they believe the customer is always naive, which with the greatest respect to their other customers this may be their experience because a lot of people who purchase a ukulele purchase it as a first instrument or as a novelty gift and this may be their first experience dealing with a music shop.

A strange trend even in their positive reviews that I wish I had noted is how often people seem to order and item, there is a “problem” supplying that item and then Diyvesh really helpfully sells them an alternative. I really should have seen these event coming and steered well clear.

I order a banjo from Uke Universe. I am a working composer and needed a banjo pretty urgently and they advertised this item as being in stock and delivered the next day. I went with Uke Universe simply because they were the only people to claim to have the item in stock. It was not a cheap item, especially based on the average cost of items (obviously ukuleles) that they sell.

I ordered it, received an immediate confirmation email and the sat and waited for it to arrive the next day as advertised so I could get to work. Nothing happened. At 17:05 the following day I received an email from Diyvesh personally, informing me that unfortunately the only one they had in stock was damaged so I could either choose a replacement of wait until October when the supplier could get them a new one. To be frank, straight away this seemed off. These aren’t multi boxed items sold from a box by a retailer. Instrument would and absolutely SHOULD be checked by any music retailer. Firstly from their own perspective and most important from the perspective of buyers. Uke Universe likes to push the personal touch, but apparently this expensive instrument hadn’t even bee checked according to Diyvesh. Again, to be frank, I didn’t believe him. Despite the negative picture of care for instrument condition this paints, I though it far more likely that whilst far larger retailers and banjo specialists were telling me they couldn’t get stock of this model that Uke Universe were falsely advertising it as in stock and ready to ship. This would also tie in with the positive reviews where items ordered had “a problem” and alternatives were sold. This was in fact EXACTLY my experience – I ordered a specific item shown in stock, there is a problem and Diyvesh tries to sell me an alternative that he does have in. At no point in his initial report of the instrument being damaged did Diyvesh offer me a refund, as his my right and most importantly his legal duty. It was select and alternative or a long wait. This seems like a repeated and really shady practice to entice in payments, not to inform customers they can and should have a refund, then try to shift stock he does have. Of course could I have been wrong in my suspicion about this mis-selling? Well actually no, because 4 days after Diyvesh told me my item was damaged and he couldn’t supply it, the very same item is still advertised at “In Stock and Ready To Ship Next Day”, waiting for someone else to fall into the same trap. Despite several requests for a refund (and not receiving it) and responses from Diyvesh suggesting I should select an alternative, the item is still up for sales, despite me informing Diyvesh of this and Diyvesh personally being aware the item cannot in fact (if you even believe this) until October. This is clearly standard practice. For reference I actually spoke to several larger retailers who told me that the supplier in question was not giving dates for deliveries as there was a supply issue meaning that even if I was willing to wait, the October date wasn’t anything the supplier could have truly issued.

Refund was eventually issued after chasing and suggestion that I publicly address the issue. The excuse was that they only have two staff and are dealing with stock issues – It literally takes two minutes to issue a Paypal refund and as I have said it should have been automatically issued if a genuine case where an item was unsaleable, but the modus operandi seem to be to try and sell other stock.

To be honest, even in a bad experience I wouldn’t usually worry about posting a review as especially with small businesses you accept that mistakes happen and times can be hard. That said there is more to this. Like I say the same item is still being advertised and at no point was I fully or honestly informed of my rights. The onus is on a business, not a customer to ensure the legality or compliance of transactions.

I expect the business to reply to it trying to deny etc, but more constructively they would be better looking at certain practices – such as “problems” with advertised stock, rather than trying to defend a position.

There was a slight delay in receiving my ukulele, a Snail UKT 598EQ, but I was kept up to date with what was happening. The ukulele was great value for money.

Fabulous customer service

Fabulous customer service!
I placed an order as a Christmas present and there was a bit of a mix up with my order. I flagged this via email and someone called me straight away to find out what had went wrong and to fix it. He arranged for a new delivery and contacted me to let me know it had been sent and then again to check it arrived safely. Cannot thank them enough for making sure my daughter wasn’t disappointed at Christmas. Brilliant brilliant service.

Great service

Uke Universe were initially a little slow to communicate after I'd placed the order, but after that, service and communication were much improved, delivery was super speedy. One very happy recipient of an Enya Nova Concert Uke on xmas day.
