Avoid at all costs

What's the quote - fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. I should have twigged the first time this truly awful company stole DVDs off me that they were not to be trusted, but willing to give the company the benefit of the doubt (and partly because they were prepared to pay c.15-20% more than their competitors), I went ahead and sent another box of DVDs. And for the second time, I received a reduced payment on the basis of "damaged art work" and "water damage" for DVDs that had neither artwork nor water damage. Rather confusing really as any DVDs that didn't pass muster were binned by me. The good stuff I sold to WeStealDVDs...

So as many other disgruntled folk have come to realise, WeBuyDVDs have come up with a fantastic business model. They offer a tantalising good price for your DVDs which is part one of the trap. You send your DVDs to them in good faith, and it's at this point where things rapidly head downhill.
Firstly they take an age to respond, quoting, "Due to huge 400% increase in people sending us there items, there is a delay in cheques being processed. We are doing our upmost to get through the backlog but please bear with us during this extremely busy period (sic)". So that's a few extra days/weeks they have to sell your DVDs, bank the money and start earning interest.
When they finally get round to processing your items, they invent spurious reasons not to pay for many of them. As mentioned above, damaged artwork or water damage are the go-to reasons. And this is why their business model is so damn awesome. For them. You have absolutely zero recourse:
- There is no appeal process
- There is no opportunity to have the DVDs returned
- There is no obligation for them to prove the damage exists
- There are no means to show them the photos you took of the previously perfect condition items
- There is no contact number so you cannot speak to a person, instead, you have to deal via email or the 'Contact Us' form. Did I mention they have a 400% increase in DVDs being sent to them, so a lengthy delay to responding is to be expected.
- When they FINALLY get round to processing the DVDs, it then takes an age to actually send the cheque (that's right - cheque - it's not the 1990's, it's just another great way to delay paying you)
So you send DVDs which are in good condition, they receive them and claim they are damaged, you have no way to refute this claim. You have to simply roll over and be ****ed by them. Bravo WeStealDVDs, bravo.

So thankfully I have learnt from this sorry state of affairs. I will no longer, never again, not on your nelly, ever use this shambolic company again. It's MusicMagpie all the way for me.

Avoid

Originally, I was chuffed as ai was expecting quite a large payment (much better than Music Magpie), but three months after sending the DVDs, I am still yet to receive payment.

Also, as someone else has recently reviewed, my three most expensive items have been deemed too damaged to qualify for payment, when I am meticulous at care for my things. Funnily enough, the things too damaged to sell, they keep anyway.

Ripped off -- untrustworthy

I was selling about 96 DVDs including a number of box sets , all of the most expensive box sets failed there quality check because of apparent damage to boxes including tears and waterdamage (even though they have always been kept inside on a shelf , so only chance of getting wet was during transit ) was provided with no proof of damage and they refused to send them back at my own cost, I also then told them when refused I have changed my mind about selling and to send all DVDs back at my own cost , again they refused, almost month later no DVDs and no payment feel completely robbed and let down , used music magpie at same time with some other DVDs and transaction completed within 8 days and that was with requesting payment by check , use webuydvds at your own risk but you will be robbed

RIPPED OFF!! BE WARNED!!

Do not use this company. Do so at your peril. They will offer you best prices but you will never receive payment. They will tell you that they are very busy which has delayed payment, it will never arrive!
AVOID at all cost you will not receive payment. I have been waiting for weeks. I wish I had read reviews. Nevertheless I will not let it go and will be reporting this to trading standards and I hope others will do the same. I would guess many of you on here were torn between selling a lifetimes of CDs, DVDs and games collection only then to feel robbed. Nothing but scammers. Don't fall in to the trap.

No payment!

Just as all the other reviews on here, I have not been paid after three months of waiting! All my contact is a waste of time, just the standard 'we are busy, will send cheque soon' response.

Why are these guys still trading?!! trading standards needs to pull there finger out!

DO NOT USE!

Avoid.......you'll never receive payment

Recycle started 9/9/15. Still not been paid....20/11/15.

Usual story .....rejected most expensive DVDs which I knew where in mint condition, so hey ho never mind, onto payment, my cheque was being printed for over a month......finally marked as sent on the 5/11/15. I've sent several emails, and just get the standard.....its dependant on Royal Mail. It does not take Royal Mail 15 days to deliver a letter in 2015. I doubt I'll ever get paid tbh. I've now made a complaint to trading standards.

Complete charlatans DO NOT USE.

Much like the other reviews below I have had no end of trouble with this company. They did quote the best prices on a number of items hence me using them but the reality is they mysteriously deem the most valuable items to be unacceptable despite me knowing they were in nearly new condition. No that this matters are you seemingly never actually get paid. They have had my items since 27/09/15 and i'm still awaiting payment 12/11/15.

Had a breakthrough last week when after contacting them every week for an update and they finally said my payment has been sent. 7 days later an no payment received.

I can't see it arriving and when it does I can't see it clearing anyway. My recommendations would be the use Ziffit and Musicmagpie, even if the prices are lower. At least you will actually see your money.

AVOID!

FRAUD - PLAIN AND SIMPLE

I wish I had seen the reviews on this site before sending my DVDs. I have finally received payment 3 months after WeStealDvds processed my stock, but I had to fight for it. My DVDs were viewed once or new & factory sealed, pristine & mint. I photographed my DVDs before sending. Three were apparently unplayable and had damaged artwork. No opportunity to contest. They were 'destroyed' according to policy. What nonsense. I can only imagine how much additional money they make by skimming an extra pound or two off the top of the original agreed price of every customer. The 'cheque pending' wait time was a month. Two weeks after 'issue' the cheque hadn't arrived and I had to email to inform them. As a 'gesture of goodwill' they agreed to re-issue the cheque without charging me the £12.50 admin fee. This is a well-oiled fraud machine that should be avoided at all costs and will be avoided by me for certain.

Lie about state of dvds even though the ones they said had damage were new! Then take months and months to give you very little money back.I rather give them to charity from now on as this lot are con artists. AVOID.

Keep stalling payment

22nd of Sept 2015 sent them DVD's, received and cleared 29th Sept but no cheque sent (website states cheque is being processed).
10th Oct contacted them about payment said cheque will be issued. Contacted them again 31st Oct as payment still has not been paid.

Are they going in to adminstartion, maybe...........probably not that lucky though, because that would stop them ripping off customers.

At least Richard Turpin wore a mask (could not use short name)

This company are a bunch or rip off merchants. I sent my DVD's in early End of July what a palaver that was. Instructions say put into 2 boxes. However they have a max load per box of 10kg. I needed 3 boxes but they only sent a label for 2. So I had to traipse all the way home with one box await another label (which came quick) Then go back and post the other box. DVD's received 5th August. As per usual DVD's which where perfect condition suddenly found themselves damaged. The fact that they where the most expensive ones was not a coincidence at all.

I found myself doing the "Payment is made within 9 days" dance by sending an email requesting my cheque with the "where having trouble printing cheques" reply. Then lo and behold my cheque has been sent on the 17th September.

Really did you really send the cheque? I think not. The auto response to email does not happen, they are very slow to reply (unless they want you to send your DVD's then you get one before you send it)

No wonder they have no phone number on their website.

I think that most of the good reviews on here could be made up some are decidedly dodgy. A quick one line to say "the company is great". "They sent my cheque the next day" Please do you thinke we are all stupid WEBUYDVDs.co.uk? Oh sorry you do because we did send you our DVD's and foolishly expected a payment.

Luckily I had sent the majority of my DVD's to ZIFFIT.co.uk who conducted themselves in a very business like manner and paid monies into my account within about 10 days from start to finnish.

It's only £40 but it's not the point it's the principle. Now I am going to join a long list of complaints to the Sunderland area trading standards.

Bouncing cheques !,,,,do not use !!!

Sent items took over 7 weeks to receive cheque , just had my mail and the cheque has bounced at my bank and returned to me for £115. This company still owes me over £200 for other goods. No further cheques arrived . Total rip off. No answer to my emails. Now I've contacted trading standard as I've read so many negative comment regarding webuydvds. And now being investigated .Do not use.

Horrific

AVOID THIS COMPANY!!

3 months after sending the DVDs (of which, like everyone else, they deemed half 'faulty') and I have still not been paid. I contacted them about it, and they tried to tell me the cheque had been sent and that it would be £12.50 to send another. WHAT? How do I even know they have posted the original cheque? This is a huge money making scam. DO NOT USE THIS WEBSITE!

Company full of lies

Took month to get cheque even though it says faster payments now , take money off what they promise around 20 per cent for no reason so when you scan your DVDs etc you think your getting a good offer but your not , refuse to send items back that they say has failed quality check even if you offer to pay postage , never use this company again , also positive reviews are from family and friends of staff at company .

Save time, throw your stuff in the river

If you are thinking of using this company, don't.
They will take your things, reject them for the most ridiculous reasons (a sticker on the case... Really?!?!) and then won't return your property. Don't be fooled by the offer they make you, you will not get that much money, assume 20-30% less.
Then when they do decide they will pay you for your stuff they will wait a good MONTH before actually sending you the money. And customer service will give you no helpful reason why it is taking so long.
These guys are either criminally inept or deliberately deceitful. Either way I regret using them, and will not bother with them ever again.

BIGGEST RIP OFF EVER - ABSOLUTE CRIMINALS

Do not use this company, you agree a settlement with them and send off your dvds in good faith and then they decide that the vast majority are damaged so they only pay you for roughly half you sent them originally and then to rub salt into the wound they keep the so called damaged ones what a joke. Wish I had read the reviews before using these cowboys - NEVER AGAIN.
