Overpriced and lots of lost time

Overpriced, especially considering its location. But, the biggest problem for me was being charged twice by the hotel, and then taking 4+ months to get a refund, even after raising this during the stay, and after numerous, numerous calls and emails. So much time lost.

Confirmed booking cancelled

My confirmed booking was simply cancelled by the hotel due to allegedly missing credit card details.
However, at that time the full amount was already being charged from my account. There was no problem at all with my card.
The real reason: during the 4-day march in Nijmegen hotel prices skyrocket and I booked before the prices went up. After cancelling my reservation Bastion can now sell the room at a price four times higher than the rate at which I booked. And hotel staff at the hotline say they will investigate my claim but never reply afterwards.

This is a scam. If you want to make sure you really have a reservation at the time your travel, avoid Bastion.

We were booked into Bastion Hotel…

We were booked into Bastion Hotel Barendrecht arrived early for one night, at reception we were told that our room wasn’t ready happy to wait

Then a few minutes later the house manger told us that there was a problem with our room, no other availability for that night, she told us that there was a room for us at the sister hotel Bastion Hotel Dordrecht Papendrecht

She rang the hotel to confirm we would take the room, we had an upgrade too, she also had our two main meals paid for, as it was an inconvenience

This was a wonderful gesture from Naomi, she deserves recognition for sorting out the problem

We’d recommend the Bastion Hotel Group if your in the Netherlands

Thank you again NAOMI

Hotel

At our check-out day, the Hotel has double charged us (230EUR). After long conversations with the staff, it took almost 1 week to get the payment back in our bank account and therefore we had limited money to continue our vacation.

Although we wanted to check out at 9:30, we ended up leaving the hotel at 11:30. In the meantime, we also received a parking fine because the parking ticket was 10 minutes overdue.

Although the hotel has taken responsibility for their mistake by email and wanted to document proof of the parking company, they have not responded to our inquiries.

We ask hotel/headquater to get in touch with a senior manager, but no one sends us further in the organization. The inquiries are not answered.

I would not recommend Bastion Hotel Noord to any guests. The rooms are dirty, no elevator and not baby friendly. The staff is not friendly and does not show understanding of the guests' needs.

The food in the hotel is overpriced.

We will never visit Bastion Hotel again.

Worst service I've experienced

Was on a worktrip with 3 colleagues.
1. Day we wen't to the restaurant, and ordered some food. After 10 min the first course arrived. After 5 minutes, we asked the waiter, if it was possible that we all could eat togeher. Her answer was. That is not allowed, probably a joke. 5 minutes after came the second course. again we talked to the waiter, and she offered us a free drink because of this. 10 minutes after, the last 2 courses was served. It gets better. 5 minutes after the last courses was served, the sidedish for the 2 first courses arrived, and they where done eating.
The end of the story is. When we checked out, all of us, got a wrong invoice. all of us was charged for the free drink we were offered, 3 of us was also charged for bears, they don't even drink bears.
all in all, super bad experience.

Fraudulent Charges and Poor Experience at Bastion Hotel Amsterdam Amstel

Booking ID: 1501758168. We stayed at Bastion Hotel Amsterdam Amstel, booking two rooms through Agoda. Both rooms were clearly listed as all-inclusive with no extra fees. However, the hotel charged us an additional €97 for one room, claiming Agoda provided incorrect information and calling them a fraud.

If the hotel believes Agoda is fraudulent, why continue working with them? Also, why was only one room charged the extra €97 when both were booked under the same conditions? €97 on top of the €320 we already paid is unreasonable and feels like a scam.

This experience was frustrating and unacceptable. We trusted the hotel to honor the booking terms but were instead met with unexpected charges and blame-shifting to Agoda. Avoid this hotel unless you want to deal with surprise fees and poor customer service.

Top Quality and Restaurant

Absolutely great hotel. Very nice, super clean, check in and check out both together, total of 5 mins. The restaurant is very high quality. I can't imagine anything I'd change or improve from my stay. Looking forward to visiting again

Everything was perfect except the toilet bowl

Everything was perfect, except the reception was not manned when we came but she was polite and probably busy at the back office. When we entered the room is properly cleaned and the beddings was on point except the toilet bowl there are brown traces of fresh human stuff there which was not flushed properly nor scrub. But overall it is not a bad hotel.

Disgusting behavior male manager or…

Disgusting behavior male manager or receptionist don’t know what he is spoke in a seductive way to my future wife!! My wife came and told me that male manager was harassing her because of her big melons saying things and laughing in dutch. I am sorry but this is not appropriate when i came down and confronted that white male he changed subject and his fave turned red. I complained and even send an email to bastion but no one answered. After the night we came from centrum there he was again making remarks and attitude on his face we felt so uncomfortable during our stay. That man even called our room saying we are smoking and have to pay a fine of €450 in cash or we need to leave omg!! What is this we do not even smoke

Disgrace

Oh boy, where to start with this one. I'll keep it as short as i can so you can read through it, digest it and make up your own minds.

We had a wedding party from the UK stay here. We advised them on several (not just once or twice) occasions that one of the guests was disabled in a wheelchair, one of the guests was under 16 but needed her own room next to her father, that only two of the rooms can have double beds as other guests were not couples, the guests would arrive around 5pm as their flights came in then and all guests would likely want food on the evening of arrival as well as breakfast on two mornings. We had booked one couple's room for 5 days but this was cancelled over a month prior (this will be important further down).

We were told there was an elevator and that we had to provide a credit card to secure the rooms upfront, this would be charged at 12pm on the day of arrival.

When we arrived, all the rooms booked were upstairs but there was no elevator (i guess we were meant to carry the disabled person on our back). The guy on the desk who was in charge was apparently someone who doesn't normally work there, he was just covering (smart idea when you have a wedding party to take care of). The chef couldn't handle more than four people at once because he hadn't been informed upfront (did someone forget about the wedding party?)

Unbeknownst to us, a few days prior to the arrival, the provided credit card had been charged for the cancelled 5 day room.

After the wedding, the guests returned home and we went to the UK with them for one of our two honeymoons. It was here that we found out about the incorrect charge on the card. So, as per the standard resolution, i sent an email to the hotel (it was ignored). I sent an email to their head office (it was ignored). I submitted a ticket / complaint on their website (it was ignored). These emails and the ticket were sent around the middle of September. As of writing this (13th October), i still have no response.

When i returned to the Netherlands i went and visited the hotel. The woman on the desk happened to be the one who i spoke to when i cancelled the 5 day room. She was expecting me. She received the email and sent it to the head office. Never bothered to inform me she had done so upon receiving it. She called their complaints team whilst i was there. The lady on the other end said "what do you expect me to do?" Oh i don't know, refund the money maybe? She informs me they need 5-10 days to investigate it. Why, when the woman who called you is the one who said she cancelled the room and it was charged in error.

Still to this day, no one has bothered to call me, send an email or even apologise. It's safe to say, i'll never set foot in a Bastion hotel ever again.

In the end, i told my mum to do a chargeback and if Bastion wish to dispute it, they can argue with the credit card company, who have all the evidence needed to laugh them out of the room.

Worst hotel ever

Worst hotel ever, checked in and was given a room with a faulty AC and the vent was so noisy that the reception could hear it when I called. Called to ask if it can be fixed or move room and I was told that no one could fix it tonight so I have to stay in said room till tomorrow and he has written it out to be looked at but not sure anyone would fix it. I am currently on meds for migraines and had a second thought about it cos the male receptionist sounded so nonchalant that I doubted anything would be done. So I went down to reception and have a long back and forth with same receptionist on how I may or may not get a change of room tomorrow, they best advise was to take the keycard off when I go to bed so the electric supply will be cut off then the noise would stop. However the room was red hot so I wouldn’t be getting any sleep either way. He offered me free breakfast as compensation which I refused because I wanted a good night sleep. The female receptionist came to ask what was wrong and proceeded to say the maintenance had been in to fix the room today but couldn’t manage so they would be coming back tomorrow and all room were fully booked. The male receptionist never mentioned this so I asked them if the room was noted to be faulty why check someone into a faulty room and I got no response. Female receptionist proceeded to have a look at the computer and got me booked in another room (which was said didn’t exist). Very poor service in total. Hotel looked shabby overall. I should’nt be paying to be in a poorly maintained hotel room.

NEVER AGAIN!

Especially the female staffs are not friendly and nerved. They were very incorporative and didn't solve my problem.
The agency I booked over even send me an Email that the Hotel didn't agree to cooperate on a solution.
The Food was also not the best.

Never again !!!!

We had a terrible experience at this…

We had a terrible experience at this hotel, and we deeply regret staying here. I strongly advise against choosing this place. The staff, in particular the manager, were incredibly rude and inconsiderate. Despite having the right to check out at 12 PM, our door was knocked on at 11 AM, just to confirm we were leaving. We had a late check-in and only managed to get a few hours of sleep. Due to this incident, I informed the staff that I might need to check out a little later, but at 12:10 PM, the hotel manager himself showed up at our door, speaking loudly and being extremely rude. Instead of resolving the issue or offering an apology, she continued with his rude behavior. Even though I expressed my frustration and told her I would be filing a complaint, she failed to manage the situation and certainly didn’t act like a manager should. Avoid staying at this hotel at all costs. This review is left for Bastium Hotel Bussum

Absolutely disgraceful

Absolutely disgraceful, booked a room in the morning for €156. Had trouble making payment on the website. Called up and spoke to the manager, even received an email to confirm the room would still be held till my arrival. However on arrival I was told all rooms were sold except a room €40 euro more. The assistant manager said she couldn't price match, and because it was the weekend there were no other hotels available. Absolutely a bait and switch by the assistant manager, despite seeing my email confirmation and conversation with the manager. Disgusting behaviour, would not recommend this hotel, and will never stay at a Bastion hotel again.

Other problems with the room included a very loud banging noise that kept waking us up intermittently through the night. A sink that wouldn't drain for minutes and had peeling paint, a toilet filled with limescale and dirt marks, and a shower that also wouldn't drain and ended up flooding the whole bathroom. The hallway air vents were surrounded by years of accumulated dust. While at first glance the room and hotel looks good, they need to up the game on maintenance.

Well recommended

Thanks to all your staff for making our two night stay very enjoyable. Our circumstances required special understanding with the fact that my spouse had a mobility issue: she had recent knee surgery 7 days before we checked in and was on crutches.

Also the dining area offered a pleasant space for us to spend an afternoon visiting with relatives over a drink and snacks.

We hope to stay with you again on our next visit to Leiden.

Tot siens.
