Visited the Arnold, Nottingham Store today. Intention to purchase one item, the aisles are memory joggers, I purchased an overflowing basket full!
I had to purchase two Boyes long life reuseable shopping bags.
The assistant packed the two bags for me, evenly distributing the weight for me to carry.
Very much appreciated by me.
Her name was Anita.
I asked her if she had visited the original store in Scarborough, I told her I fully recommended a visit. A beautiful store. My husband and I visited some years ago when on holiday in North Yorkshire.

Racist experience at south shields branch.

Last time im going in there, 10 minutes wait at the till , only one till in operation at lunchtime, plenty off staff circulating and doin nothing but avoiding actual work.

Do not buy Clothing or Footware also be cautious on the stores goods, I believe this store sells SECONDS or items that do not make full retail grade but do not state this on their goods.
Example in the last year:-
Bench track suit the pockets wrong way round ( face your back side )
One coat the sleave lining far too long ......... Returned
Pair of shoes the soles thin thin thin....... could not
return over the period.
Underpants with ladders on two out 3 pairs. ..... Returned.
Also over the years same old same old, why don't i learn. well that's it NO MORE from Boyes.
Don't get me wrong i don't mind seconds or clothing not deamed full retail quality, but surely it is unlawfull to sell these products without warnings or advisory information for customers. Boyes you are very close or over this threshold.

Very reasonable prices,always have just what i need,and catering for those who still want items theyve always bought even if they arent as in demand as they once were.
Great all-round store and renowned for being reliable.
It did often puzzle me why although having stores in yarm,billingham,stockton,guisborough etc it took them so many years to get a store sorted for middlesbrough,however this was never an issue for me,just an observation.
This is one store that has always done me proud and had everything i need. Also they dont put essential stuff away for xmas like wilko used to

Been a Boyes customer for years but recently bought some trainers Adidas ones as a gift when I received them they were not boxed on request of a box they said they destroy the boxes as they take up to much room which quite upset me as it's not a cheap pair of trainers and now my gift looks cheap and nasty I will never buy any shoes from here again .. and will be
exceptionally careful on everything else I get ... i should nt have to pay £10 for a box of the internet when they get delivered to the shop from Adidas in them not good sales practice in my book

Stokesley Boyes is a very neat and tidy store. The soap display was particularly well presented. Congratulations to all involved.

Bought an alarm clock from Boyes in the Park way, Coulby Newham shop.
The two assistants who were on the wool counter took the alarm clock out of the box and set it up for me and showed me how do it. Just want to say thank you for the brilliant service. Appreciated.

Got told to get out at 15:54 on a Sunday and put my shopping down. Couldn’t even pay for what I had I had to get out. The store manager here is so rude it’s unbelievable

I visit the Holbeach store most weeks. The staff are always friendly & helpful. They have a very good range of goods especially little odds and ends you often need like light bulbs, batteries or small DIY items.

I love these old fashioned stores. These are the kind of shops that you only miss when they are gone. I generally find them to be good value and friendly. The Bridlington store is the best in the chain, in my view, with a fantastic museum on the top floor and a cafe with the most incredible views of Bridlington Bay and harbour. They do a mean steak and kidney pie too.

Visited the Darlington Boyes store today to buy blackout material. There were two people in front of me and one lone assistant in soft furnishings. I am an impatient customer, but couldn't help noticing how she didn't rush but was thoughtful and attentive in serving each customer - noting that one needed a bag for glasses in case they were scratched, for example.
She explained to me the different types of fabric available, was able to remember when the materials had changed, checked with me that a small imperfection didn't matter and so on, and offered a receipt unprompted.
Many shops could learn from this.

I Purchased a pair of Trainer/shoes from boyes. Were Comfy till end of First week, then they Split in half, due to Walking normal in Rain and Snow. Obviously the Trainers are made with Disolving Rubber Soles. I Tried to take them back, as its my right as a Customer, and they Flat out Refused. Saying they had been worn. Have now made a Full Complaint to Trading Standards. To all do Not Buy their Shoes/Boots/Trainers any Footwear, As you will be Ripping Yourself off, Go elsewhere.

Love the Stockton-on-Tees store but don't ever try to get through on the phone. Wanted to know if they had a certain item in store so I didn't have to make an unnecessary trip. Gave up after two attempts.

I purchased a Threadbare Fleece Hooded All-In-One from the Stockton branch, size M, (they only had M or XL) good value £28 compared to £40 at Next. However no facilities for trying on in the store. After arriving home I tried it on and was slightly tight. I went back out to the Billingham branch in case they had more sizes. This branch had L available, but again no facilities for trying on, hard to tell if the L was too large. (actually they had changing rooms but said I couldn’t use them). I ended up buying the L size as well, and going home to try them. I had to make a third journey to return the M size.
So good value but somewhat offset by the inconvenience of a lack of try on facilities and the multiple journeys I had to make

Went to visit Santa at Boyes Scarborough today with my 3 year old daughter
Santa hardly spoke to my child no interaction, didn’t make any conversation unless I initiated it .
Then couldn’t be bothered to look at the camera for a picture.
I’m very disappointed in the experience.
It’s supposed to be a magical time of year for children , and I felt that santas heart wasn’t in it at all .

Urgently needed something from Boyes in Hoyland, Barnsley on Sunday 6th November. I purposefully drove there knowing they should close at 4pm and arrived at the store door at 3.53pm knowing that they should be open until 4pm. THE DOOR WAS LOCKED! I knocked on the window and indicated to the the store man inside that I needed something urgently. He just ignored my request saying WE'RE CLOSED!
If you have a closing time of 4pm, then the doors should be open till 4pm! Very , very poor attitude by the staff member. Totally wasted my time and diesel. Boyes will lose customers with this attitude and total disregard to customers needs and disregard from your staff to your proper advertised opening times. Disgusting attitude
The managing director of Boyes should deal with the poor attitude of your staff. Your staff obviously close the store when they like!!

After visiting the Arnold store today in Nottingham I am very unhappy with the staff. I even spoke to the staff regarding this to which they pretended they didn’t know what what I was on about. So here goes I take my mum shopping as she’s just came out of hospital after having an heart attack I took her food shopping first and then decided to go to the store as my brother wanted some new jeans . My sister who was also there carrying her bag of Iceland frozen food she just purchased . So the whole wash round the store we was constantly getting looks . Getting followed by the female staff. Like all round the store at first I thought oh well they maybe get shoplifters so they have to do what they have to do , but seriously when I say we was set upon is no joke . Every member of staff was looking at is and following us around . So in the end after paying for our curtain rail and and gift bag and jeans I had enough so I spoke to a member of staff and expressed our I felt and that do they think we are shoplifting and to look in our bag as we only have frozen food from Iceland . The staff was rude and saying they don’t no what I am on about . I said you have been following us around the whole store. I’m sure you have cameras so you would have known if we did steal anything. I can tell you for a fact we are not shoplifters we are not thief’s and the way you made us feel was not right. I will be making a formal complaint regarding thsi and I will be demanding your staff go through there cctv to prove this. And I expect the members of staff to be dealt with .

Talk about inflation.
Today at Boyes, Blue spot 10 pce knife blade set, price on the shelf was £1.65, by the time I got to the till to pay after waiting in line. The price had shoot up £1.75, I have heard of inflation.

How many more products are in store, priced wrong and misleading customers.
After pointing the price out on the shelf and the member of staff then went and checked, the price came down to £1.65 as on the shelf.
Nice try Boyes.

Not sure why they push leaflets through my door advertising stuff at one price then when you get to the store it's nothing like it. Example, garden shears, £12,99 in the store £19.
