Recently visited Evans Halshaw

Recently visited Evans Halshaw, Stourbridge on the off chance of looking for a new car. From the initial visiting Harry was a superstar, friendly and so helpful and arranged a test drive there and then. We decided to go ahead with the purchase. On pick up day we had our handover appointment with Linda, she went through everything with us leaving us with no questions to ask. They are both a credit to the company

DO NOT USE THIS GARAGE!

DO NOT USE THIS GARAGE!!
On the 4th March I part exchanged my Mercedes Benz “A” class for a Ford Kuga that was being
sold for £9,150 at the Wrexham outlet.
I was given £7,000 in part exchange value for the Mercedes, meaning that I had to find the
balance of the purchase price, this being £2,150. This I did on finance through Evans Halshaw
I owned this vehicle for exactly 47 days.
During this time, the “oil” warning light kept coming on, even though, on checking, there was no
oil shortage.
On one occasion, the under tray came away from the vehicle causing me to abandon it in a lye
bye on the A55 for 24 hours.
I reported the defects and was advised to bring the vehicle in for attention, which I did on the 20th
April.
Prior to this, I engaged in a series of E-mails with Mr Morgan Roberts about the purchase of, and
the returning of, the said Ford Kuga
On the 10th April he told me tin an email hat the aim would to the best deal on a part exchange,
but to be aware that I would lose money in comparison to what I had paid.
I knew that this would be the case, but I was expected any loss to be minimal.
On the 13th April Mr Roberts said “I wouldn’t want you to lose any money”
On the 20th April, I went to the Wrexham outlet to finalise the purchase of a Mercedes Benz GLA,
I was given a part exchange value of £4,677.39p for the Ford, a vehicle I had owned for 47 days, meaning it had apparently lost value of £4,473 in that short space of time.
On awaiting the Mercedes to be completed and ready the ford kuga then went into limp mode and would not run which resulted in having to get recovery to come and take it back to Wrexham so I could receive my Mercedes.
Half an hour into the journey home from Wrexham the Mercedes id just purchased after being ‘serviced and mot’ had the ‘coolant level low’ alert came on.
Safe to say we will NOT be using this garage again, and will be taking it further as we have tried to email there head office with said email address but it just states ‘email cannot be sent’ and there is no contact number to get in touch with them!!

Shifting stories

Shifting stories, illegal tactics, and zero accountability. Avoid.

I spent over £18,440 at Evans Halshaw Vauxhall Wigan on a car that developed a major engine fault within three weeks and was sold with an undisclosed safety recall.

The management from Liam has been a masterclass in slimeball tactics:

The Shifting Story: The narrative changed multiple times. It was only after I clearly highlighted their legal requirements under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 that any offer was made at all and even then, they continued to ignore the law.

Illegal Denial of Rights: Liam outright refused my statutory right to reject the car for a full refund unless I personally paid to ship the broken vehicle 500 miles back to them. This is a blatant breach of the law; the trader is responsible for collection costs.

The 'Cheap' Fix: After two independent garages confirmed only BMW had the software to fix the fault, I offered the branch the closest local specialist to resolve it. Their 'grand' offer instead was to transport the car 300 miles further away to attempt a repair on the cheap, with no timeline and no replacement car provided.

Administrative Excuses: I have now been forced to foot a main dealer BMW bill and all shipping costs myself because they 'apparently' cannot pay other businesses over the phone.

Liam is more interested in corporate posturing and administrative hurdles than following the law or customer safety. They take your money, sell you a faulty engine, and then expect you to fund the logistics of their failure.

Avoid this branch. They do not respect the law, and they will leave you stranded.

Friendly and stress-free

I’ve never bought a car from long distance before (250 miles) and I was a little concerned how it would go. I had no need to worry because Andy Porter handled the whole transaction perfectly. He gave me a great deal on my part-exchange and was quick to supply all the information I needed on my new car, and was happy to deal with any query I had - even replying late at night. He was friendly, courteous and professional throughout and I can honestly say it has been the easiest and least stressful transaction in my car-buying experience over the years.

I had a very poor experience with Evans…

I had a very poor experience with Evans Halshaw Derby during a recent service booking.

My vehicle was booked in for a full-day service (9am–5pm), but I received no communication or updates throughout the day. At around 12pm I received an automated update, which suggested progress had been made, so I reasonably expected the car to be ready within a few hours, especially as no additional work was required.

After trying to call at around 1pm, I was still not given any clear indication of when the vehicle would be ready. When I arrived at approximately 5:35pm to collect it, most of the staff had already left and, incredibly, my car could not be located.

I was then given a loan car at short notice, which had very little fuel and did not match my usual automatic/electric vehicle, adding further inconvenience.

I raised the issue in person and was told the service manager would contact me. This was a week ago and I have still received no follow-up.

While I understand that issues can occasionally happen, the lack of communication, poor organisation, and complete absence of follow-up has been very disappointing.

I would not recommend this dealership

Customer service

I was looked after very well by the dealership when purchasing my Kia EV9. Linda Collins in particular was very helpful and took care of all the arrangements very efficiently.
