Good Company.

Contacted Holiday Risk for a quote for insurance and they gave us a competitive price. Person we spoke to was very helpful and beat the price we got on a comparison site.

Holiday Risk - avoid this company

We bought a Holidayrisk insurance annual policy in Jan '24. We had a holiday planned to go to Portugal in Sept.. Unfortunately, my husband suffered spinal stenosis, leaving him numb in both legs at the airport. He'd been advised by his GP if this happened he needed to go straight to A&E.
Their handling company RP Claims has subsequently used every trick in the book to delay and deny our claim, advising that my husband's symptoms pre-dated our taking out the insurance, so we had to get his surgeon to confirm that the lumbar stenosis he suffered and was subsequently operated on didn't relate to previous back pain/sciatica.
Having provided receipts and massive detail on when we booked, when we cancelled our trip etc, etc, RP has refused to reimburse any elements for which we couldn't get a cancellation invoice, something our excursion company and hotels don't provide as a matter of policy. I've now asked for a full breakdown for what they are allowing and what has been declined, but, as with other reviews, received no reply over the last 10 days.
This was an extremely distressing time for us given my husband needed back surgery and we were about to move house and we were treated as just another number by a trainee claims handler giving us standard automated responses.

Still waiting for the promised refund

Still waiting for the promised refund, holiday risk are now not even responding to our emails since I provided them with requested information. Terrible service. As another customer has stated, the 5 star reviews are obviously from people that have not needed to make a claim. This company will find any loophole to ensure they don’t need to pay out, even tried saying my husband did not declare a heart attack, he’s never had one!

Excellent service

Excellent service. I had to call before renewing as I had some changes/additions to declare. Very pleasant call handler who listened to my 3 queries and then made my alterations. Unfortunately their computer system was 'misbehaving' and a lot of details had to be re-entered - all sorted with the utmost patience. Renewal cost had gone up but so had my husbands age! Minimal increase all things considered.

Consumer Beware

I have read reviews and think all the 5 star reviews have not had inevitable task of making a claim! I took insurance out with holidayrisk I was not aware that you have only 14 days for cooling off period. I have now had a medical issue that will prevent me from travelling in October/November 2025. I have asked for a full refund ! Yet my tour operator has given me full refund for holiday, so come on, still waiting for return phone call! I think that I will not look at this company again. CONSUMER BEWARE!

Buyer Beware. Will find any excuse not to pay.

Suffered a heart attack while on holiday and was admitted to hospital which caused the need to extend our stay by several days and some other out of pocket expenses. Resort were brilliant, and I was confident that out of pocket expenses and extra accommodation costs would be covered by HolidayRisk (obviously minus my excess). After 5 months of trying to get this sorted. They are now refusing any payment because they are classing the fact that 5 people went on holiday (3 sons, wife and myself) that the excess is actually £450 (£90 each!) and therefore this is more that the amount we are trying to claim. Complaint handler has given a very terse answer regarding my responsibility to read small print etc and closed the issue. I feel unfairly treated given that none of what happened was in my control and the fact that my 4 year old is being charged a £90 excess is quite frankly ridiculous. Nothing more than common crooks.

Warning If You Need To Claim - Rightpath is the Wrongpath!

We had to cancel cruise 1 week before departure as Mother in Law admitted into hospital. I sent the forms into Rightpath (who act for HolidayRisk) incl the medical certificate compiled by the medical specialist. The form states it is to be compiled by either the attending specialist or GP). My Mother in Law passed away one week later so we provided them with a copy of the Death Certificate also.
Rightpath are insistent that her GP now also compiles a copy of the medical certificate even though she passed away from the exact reasons that she was admitted and has no history of previous. The GP refuses to compile the medical certificate as they are 'too busy' and the fact that a hospital consultant has already compiled the form. I have asked Rightpath to contact the GP but not heard anything. Trying to speak with them is impossible and when you send an email it takes 5 days to get a generic response. They appear to be delay tactics to wear us down!
So in the 4 weeks since she was admitted, she has passed away, death certificate obtained, funeral arranged which takes place in two days time, her banks have transferred to her estate holding account, her life insurance has paid out to her estate. But Rightpath.... dragging their feet and will not communicate.
I would avoid any insurance company who uses Rightpath for their settlements.
As I type, still not resolved

I got Holidayrisk ‘cause it was affordable, but I had a few hiccups.i called customer service and it took forever for them to answer, but when they did, they were helpful. Didn’t need to claim, so still happy with it for the price.

I’d deleted my holiday insurance…

I’d deleted my holiday insurance documents by accident. After 30 mins of emailing holidayrisk they’d sent the documents over…. 3 times! No chance of losing them again! Thank you so much. I’ll print them off now! Great customer care. Still to go on the holiday but also seems good value for me as had a few health conditions.

Shame I can’t give it a 0 no reply no…

Shame I can’t give it a 0 no reply no correspondence over my claim . Nothing I’ve had to spend out another 90 pound for a doctors letter that really has no connection to do with any of my medical condition . I got celilituce on board the ship saw the doctors on board 2000 pound later with insurance I had to pay myself ,By the way staff doctors on board were brilliant I could have been in hospital in another country if it wasn’t for them . But still waiting for a pay out . Or even an acknowledgment to say they received my doctors letter . But nothing !!!!’ We are now the beginning of December and I’m still 2000 pound down .

The representitve for Holiday Risk travel insurance, Rob, was very knowledgeable about my query, concerning large capicity motorcycle coverage, talking me through the relevent sections and sub sections concerning this point. I have now purchased annual travel insurance for two people. Thank you.

I had to claim for a cancelled holiday…

I had to claim for a cancelled holiday and it has taken me nearly 14 weeks, 1 rejection and countless emails to get my claim fulfilled. Each time I gave the information required Rightpath would come back and ask me for something else. All I can say is don't give up if trying to make a claim but don't what ever you do take out insurance with this company in the first place. I can't comment on HolidayRisk but Rightpath who they use to fulfill the claims are the worst company EVER!

Not possible update medical history to stay covered

I needed to update my medical history for the travel insurance. I called the customer support several times, leaving messages. I emailed the company too. They never answered my calls or came back to me. In the end, I had to take up a new insurance with another company to be covered for my trip.
Update. As soon as I uploaded this review, I finally got contacted by Holiday Risk. Unfortunately this was a week too late for my needs.
