I had an excellent experience

I had an excellent experience with Knights Solicitors and couldn’t recommend them highly enough. From start to finish, the service was professional, efficient, and reassuring. They took the time to explain everything clearly, kept me well informed throughout, and always responded promptly to any questions I had.

Impressive service

I highly recommend Katrina Allen and Louise Nunns and colleagues in the Leeds office who were exceptional in their professionalism and responsiveness.
Katrina always went the extra mile and was a breath of fresh air after the lacklustre and slow service we experienced with another firm when buying and selling a previous property. We liked her approachability and friendliness and willingness to quickly answer all questions that concerned us.

always providing a first-class service…

Received a superb level of service from Jamie Noel and Susie Preston on the sale of our house. It was not without complications yet Jamie navigated them with great skill and reassurance, always keeping us totally informed and updated. Jamie and Susie were always incredibly professional, attentive and quick to respond to any query whether by phone or email. Jamie also kept us informed at all times with regards to costs so there were no surprises when we completed. I've been using Knights for many years and wouldn't consider going anywhere else. They always provide a first-class service.

Sent nasty letter to me on behalf of landlord

Sent a letter to me on behalf of my landlord SNG threatening legal action for repair works that were delayed to be carried out even though the repair was already booked in.

Rathar than mediating, the law firm sent an unsigned letter threatening and intimidating me to comply which came across as coercive and unfair considering my health issues.

Though my landlord were in the wrong and later apologised for the letter, the apology should have come from the law firm for acting on false information from my landlord.

Still no apology from them.

We worked with knights on selling our property which was a bumpy road and fell through 4 times before finally closing in Dec. Nick and Linda were wonderful to work with throughout- patiently guiding us through the process and reassuring us. We really felt like they were on our team and no question was a stupid question. We would definitely use them again.

Expedient and approachable

All staff kept me in the loop and suggested options where issues arose.

knights bought our solicitor, service improved.

Nam at knights took over our conveyancing after knights bought the solicitors we chose mid-way through our process. He continued the process seamlessly and of anything accelerated it with his excellent communication. Couldn't have been happier with him towards the end of the process, very available on the phone and responsive to emails.

Professional Standards Fell Short When It Mattered

I instructed Knights for two significant family matters over 2022-2023, paying over £60,000 in legal fees. Originally they estimated about £20k. While the legal work was competent, the way they handled billing and debt collection was deeply disappointing.
After informing them in June 2023 that I could no longer afford to continue due to financial hardship, I later disputed a final invoice. Despite four separate requests over several months for an itemised breakdown - standard professional courtesy - Knights refused to provide one until I was forced into court proceedings.
The itemised bill was eventually provided within court papers. This meant litigation was necessary simply to obtain information I was entitled to as a client.
Following judgment, I received no written notification and proactively contacted both Knights and the Court trying to establish payment details. Despite this, High Court Enforcement was instructed, adding £414 to a £968 dispute.
For a firm that had already been paid £60,000+, pursuing aggressive debt collection against a client who had clearly communicated vulnerability and was actively trying to pay felt unnecessarily punitive.
I expected better from a firm of Knights' standing. If you're considering instructing them, get fixed quotes in writing and monitor costs closely - mine tripled from the original estimate.

Efficient and Professional

Rachel Byles of Knights in Newcastle under Lyme acted for me on a probate sale of my mother’s house. She was very efficient, professional and proactive through-out, despite the other solicitors involved being very slow and failing to communicate. I would certainly recommend her. You might pay more for the service but it is worth it. It’s unfortunate that not everyone operates in the same way which can mean that the process is still stressful.
