The customer service was great…before they had my money. I booked for an end of tenancy clean and paid £300 for this to be done. The clean was not done very well and a lot of dirt/marks were left behind. I’ve emailed photos over as myself and my landlord are not happy with the standard and nothing has been resolved over a week in. I’ve now lost a chunk of my deposit as a result as the cleaners were not sent back to sort out what has been missed. My emails are now being ignored and I’m going to have to take it further to get some of my money back. I would avoid this company. They’re great until you’ve paid and then after that they aren’t interested in helping sort out any issues you have. I won’t use this company again

There's not enough kind words in the world for everyone at Mel's! I'm a physically disabled and autistic young adult who's been seriously struggling with a hoarding situation for years, so just making that first phone call was very difficult, but Abi and everyone else were so patient and understanding with me from the very start.

The cleaners were very kind and thoughtful, going out of their way to keep me and my two cats comfortable throughout the process, and even the tiniest details were meticulously paid attention to. It didn't even occur to me to think about polished light switches and door frames when the garbage mountain in the kitchen was probably a breeding ground for a new super bacteria, but the cleaners went above and beyond to handle everything in just one day. My home went from a genuine biohazard to completely spotless.

The service was absolutely worth every penny and more, I finally feel more like a person again now my surroundings are clean and pleasant to live in.

I booked a 24 hour extreme clean to help declutter and clean my house after a 5+ year stint of extreme mental health issues leading to a very dirty, disorganized and 'hoarder-looking` environment that I was extremely embarrassed about.
Due to this I generally do not let anybody in my house unless it is a necessity, but as soon as the ladies arrived they helped to put my mind at ease because they were absolutely lovely, understanding and reassuring about the 'state of my house.'
When they first arrived I was very nervous because I didn't know what to expect or how much 'instruction' they would need but after letting them know that I had absolutely no idea what to do and that I was completely overwhelmed by the situation they then worked out a game plan. From the outset I made it clear that I wanted to be involved as I needed to know what was going on, and despite 4 of us in a Cornish cottage we were all able to work around each other, which is really amazing considering that you could not see the floor when they arrived.
When they left the kitchen, the front room and the bathroom were completely tidy, decluttered and clean. The two bedrooms had been also been cleaned, with all of the rubbish being binned, and any things that still needed putting away being divided up into boxes so that I could go through each of them individually, making it manageable for me.
The things that they did included: disposing of rubbish that was everywhere, decluttering unnecessary things, demoulding all of the walls; hoovering all of the carpets (once we had found them); checking dates on all of my food; emptying, cleaning and organising all of my kitchen and bathroom cupboards; giving everything a proper 'place' to be; dusting, as well as mentally supporting me through the whole process, which is ultimately why I had been okay with paying £1200 for 3 professional cleaners for 8 hours each.
Overall, I ended up with four full trolleys of donations, 5 massive bags of recycling and 20+ bags of rubbish.
I also now have next to nothing left to organise and put away, and this has already been sorted out so that it is all clean.
Basically, the cleaning team were absolutely amazing, and this was a life-changing experience for me that goes beyond just having my house tidied. They also gave me advice on how to keep it clean, and the fact that I was involved in the process meant that I was able to see how 'easy' they made it look, because they broke it down into little steps so that it didn't seem so difficult for me to manager.
I genuinely believe that they have taught me the life skills that I need to be able to now look after my house properly and keep it tidy, as well as giving me a head start!
Due to this, I was really conflicted as to whether to give a 4 or 5 star review, but decided that overall I needed to give 4 because of the high price that I paid in advance and that they were unfortunately late past the 30 minutes leeway. From what I can gather this was a logistical error as they had been advised by the office that it started at 10:30 instead of 10:00, and then there was a diversion on the way to my house. This may have only been a little bit over the 'time limit,' but it was extremely distressing for me as it was the weekend and I had no direct line to anyone.
Abi in customer support did call me once they were about 45 minutes late and fully explained the situation, but by this point I was in hysterics because I really thought that it might have been a scam.
It wasn't though and the ladies did turn up, but I just felt that not mentioning this logistic error would have been neglectful due to the fact that I specifically chose the company because I'm a 'vulnerable person' and paid a premium for the service based on this. I can assume that there will be others in my situation and thought I should mention it.
Overall I believe that the cleaners were with me from around 10:50 to 6:20 so had about 30 mins less with each cleaner, so overall 1.5 hours short but I will be refunded this.
Although the price is expensive, I was aware of this before agreeing to the service, and therefore cannot complain. I also feel that in my situation this cost was justified, especially as it was booked with very short notice, and because it was clearly not a 'standard domestic clean.'
One thing that I would definitely note is to check the FAQs to make sure that you are fully aware of what to expect, but I also advise to phone up and speak to an advisor make sure that they fully understand your expectations and needs.

The ladies were very helpful and friendly. Their work is of a high standard. They did more than I expected them to do, helped with recycling, moved boxes and furniture. Felt like I'd known them for a long time.

The office staff were very helpful, understanding and positive and were really good at keeping me informed.The operatives themselves have been very reliable, sensitive and thoughtful on each visit, whatever they faced and completed the clean very professionally and with the complete trust of the client.Definitely recommended.

Team of cleaners arrived on time. They were professional and apart from the hoover, I wouldn't have known they were there. Very impressed with quality of clean and would recommend to anyone. Have just emailed company to see if I can have same team on a monthly basis. Excellent price

Very happy with the service we have had for our regylar cleaning, we have the same cleaning team visit which makes it a delight as we have rrally got to know each other and i like the company each fortnight especially during the times of not being able to have family visit.

Booked Mels Cleaning to come in October, they cancelled on me twice, the second time telling me they no longer have a cleaner in my area. They make you pay up front so they had £55 off me. I’m still waiting for the refund on 20/01, despite numerous weekly chases. They said they couldn’t find my payment, I had to give them proof that I’d paid.

Really unimpressed, would not recommend.

The girls worked like Trojans, a delight having their energy and expertise in our home. They did an outstanding job efficiently and pleasantly, they were incredibly thorough.
The deep clean was a treat which we will be repeating on a regular basis.

What a fantastic family run business .From the minute I phoned to discuss my needs I was given excellent advice and guidance by Abi. I immediately knew I had chosen the right people. I have to give a special mention to the cleaning team who undertook the actual cleaning of my property . Missy led her team of Saniya , Dee , Rita in a very professional manner ensuring all activities were completed to the highest standards. These ladies are a credit to the business.
Everybody should be so proud .

These guys did a deep clean on my parents house and I booked a 12 hour clean which they did over two days with two cleaners. The difference was incredible and my parents returned from their holiday to a surprise and were absolutely astounded at the difference. A great service and professional and careful. Brilliant

Sending the email to Mel's Cleaning was one of the hardest things I've ever done. Over the years, and for a couple of reasons, my 'bit of mess' had become a house of overwhelming clutter and - for want of a better word - filth, and I needed help.

Abi's reply to the email was caring, understanding and sympathetic. This kindness was echoed in the follow up telephone conversation. At the end of that conversation I knew I'd chosen the best firm to help me turn things around.

Missy and her team genuinely changed my life on the two days of the clean. They didn't judge me, they came in with a plan, and boy did they carry it out. As well as being quick and thorough, they understood my emotions with the task that was being undertaken. They were lovely. In addition to the 'big clean' they worked with me to go through clothes, books and 'stuff' to limit the chances of things becoming overwhelming again.

Sitting in my house today, it's hard to believe it's the same house that it was before the extreme clean. I took the decision to use Missy's team for ongoing fortnightly cleaning; specifically with the instruction that if they could see me slipping into old habits they'd help me get back on top of things.

Thankfully things are continuing to go well, and the regular cleans are the motivation I need to keep on top of things.

To summarise, if you're reading this because you are feeling overwhelmed by your home and are considering an 'Extreme Clean', I'd wholeheartedly recommend it. The kindness and understanding I had from everyone I dealt with at Mel's Cleaning made the process smoother and easier than I thought possible. They have changed my life.

The only reason that i opted for 4 stars today was just on the cost as i found it to be slightly more than competitors but in that sense you get what it is you pay for. The cleaners were absoluely fantastic, my end of lease cgheck out was completed with no concerns raised my my agency and to be fair i hadnt been the best at looking after my apartment while i was there. Very pleased with both the customer service and the cleaning standards. I would use again if i am ever based back in the UK without any hesitation

Mels were on top of my requirements right from 1st contact. After a lockdown with no visitors and MH issues my home was cluttered and I wouldn’t let anyone visit. Anything horizontal had items on it. Even my dog couldn’t walk around the home directly; having to take routes around items. I sent photos in, got a quote and the 2 ladies turned up all ready to go. Very professional, non-judgmental and ever so positive.. So efficient that they had time left over and also sorted out my bedroom/ensuite and family bathroom. Mels aren’t the cheapest but well worth the extra cost. If you pay peanuts you get monkeys. I had the skills of 2 very hard working ladies and my house is gleaming.

Wonderful helpful staff, the cleaning service given was gthorough and the team of young ladies that came for me were very helpful and even made the time to help me get better organised and its really helped make things easier for me at home as i have some mobility issues. they were very very good and i was very impressed with the time and effort they put it, they workeed really hard the whole time that they were with me and they had everything they needed too which made the session better as i dont have too much myself. i really liked everything about using them

I was really happy with the whole experience! From the friendly staff on the phone who were knowledgeable and really helpful. I felt like they genuinely cared about my situation and wanted to help me. The cleaners arrived on time and they did an amazing job. They worked really hard the whole time they were here, and they took the time to make sure I was happy with everything before they left. I won't hesitate to use Mel's again. Thank you!
