Useless! Cancellation fee for everything

Easy to set up via comparison website however wanted to add an additional driver reply was no, policy didn’t allow it and if I wanted to cancel was £87 + Car sat unused during lockdown. Sold vehicle 8 months later and been charged £40 to cancel. Just to salvage reputation waivering the cancellation fee would have been helpful.
Anyway I’d never use again. Not transparent and certainly not interested in helping you. Just cut and dry or advise of cancellation fee. They don’t care if you stay or go.

Unable to take any actions on the website such as change vehicle or add drivers etc. Rang the 24hrs line to be told they can’t change a vehicle on my policy. Got to go to work at 8am tomorrow and ended up with no insurance! Very poor.

Fraudulent scamming company

Stay away from this fraudulent company, I got a quote and was going to go for it then the deposit changed so at the last minute I backed out and went with someone cheaper and easier, I then get a call from the bank saying someone was trying to access my money, turns out one quote had set up the direct debit and tried to make a withdrawal even though I wasn't a customer and had refused the policy before signing up, don't give information to these people they are scammers and their response was "it happens never mind" not one apology and they metioned this wasnt the first time debits had been set up fraudulently, in their words "they slip through the cracks" so because of that response I have reported them to the financial ombudsman, FCA, HMRC, logged complaints with my bank and the visa fraud team. These will happily take your money for FREE atleast until you notice! STAY AWAY!

Don’t use, they’ll try everything not to pay out, buy elsewhere.

Clearly from the rating others have already found out how bad this company is.
My personal experience was shocking, my petrol Renault with less than 20k miles on the clock suffered an under bonnet fire resulting in total loss. Despite video taken seconds after it started and passers by observing me stop the car with smoke pouring out of the front, this insurer simply (and instantly) said “we don’t cover for fire if there was no accident such as collision”.
They then cancelled my claim as “withdrawn” and refused to respond to emails and calls.

I’m out of pocket on car, contents as well as lost my private reg in the process, also costs for car recovery and storage. My solicitor was already aware of this company from previous clients, that’s a bad sign too.

Very dodgy company who clearly take the first position of ‘no pay-out’ and avoid hearing more that might mean they have to.

Avoid this company otherwise you’re paying the same money for less insurance cover than you’d get with almost every other insurer, those more likely to play fair and payout when they should too.

Watch for name change soon once they have enough complaints that they have to relaunch, same poor cover and attitude, new name.

my insurance sent me a quote that was too much, therefore went with one direct as was cheaper and paid deposit. anyway my old insurer came back with a better quote. rang one direct and asked to cancel (only 4 days in from when deposit paid & policy not started)) and they said i would be charged £25 for cancellation. Absolute fools and thief's. stay away!

Avoid like a plague, they don't cover basics like under bonnet fire!

Avoid like a plague. If you insure with them you are NOT covered for fire due to under bonnet leakage or other mechanical failure or unknown fault.
My car suffered some sort of petrol leak in the engine bay when driving and caught afire. It was a 26k mile car. OneQuoteDirect flatly refused my claim then informed me that I had withdrawn my claim!
Even with video of the incident!
Very dodgy company who clearly don't play by the rules, avoid at all costs.
Only gave one star because I can't give zero.

Unreliable and charge any fee that they can make up. They add admin charges when it suits and yes they might come up cheaper on compare sites but when they add on their ridiculous fees they are in fact the dearest. I had a small change to make to the policy and they added another £100 plus £30 admin fee and demanded 25% deposit again even though I had already paid a deposit 😡. Do not insure with this company.

This insurance provider has some very…

This insurance provider has some very shady practices. For the sake of your sanity, please avoid.
They were the cheapest quote I received last year, my mistake was not checking other reviews before signing up with them. It has been a disaster from start to finish.
Bad Points:
1) Web access. Their website is so antiquated, accessing documents and sending documents has been such a headache.
2) Fees for change to policy. The amount they charge to make a change to a policy is extortionate. I contacted them recently to lower my mileage (as a result of lockdown) and it would cost me £35 because of admin fees.

Do yourself a favour. Go with a better reviewed, well run insurance company. These guys are crooks, dishonest and have no integrity.

!!!AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!

!!!AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!

First of all they gave me a decent quote online which is the reason I went with them..

On a comparison site you put in your driving licence number also you put any points you have or if you have had insurance cancelled previously..

I have 6 points on my licence and also had my previous insurance cancelled as I lost my job.. I explained all this when i RANG the company and they verified it all with the online database so all is fine..

14 days later they send me a letter stating they have to cancel my I insurance as I never disclosed my points or previous insurance been cancelled. So I got on the phone and questioned it they said the insurer is exercising there right to cancel as I didn't disclose anything.. bare in mind we had verified everything I disclosed there and then and it was on there system.. I later recieved a letter from them stating due to insufficient paper work being disclosed and harassment on the phone i have incurred £75cancellation fee as i have chosen to cancel my insurance with them!!!! Just avoid these at all costs go and pay the extra quid because these are pathetic and liars...

Quite simply the worst insurance…

Quite simply the worst insurance company I have ever used.

At first I got quoted a decent price for my insurance which quickly went up. Using such excuses as no claims bonus (which I provided), the area in which I live (which is lovely and highly sort after), where my car is kept (In a garage). I took it on the chin and decided to stay with them. Huge mistake.

October last year a bus drove into me. Luckily there where police stuck in traffic who witnessed the entire event. I took the drivers details, the police created an incident report etc. When I got to my destination I rang One Quote Direct and explained the incident. At first they where more interested in where I was driving too. I explained that i was on my way to friends house. I was then interrogated about why I was in Manchester and that I don't have my insurance as a business insurance. I explained that I don't use my car for business. Eventually we got in to the actual incident. They created a report and told me a local garage would be in touch.

A week later I got a call from TrustFord in Huddersfield to arrange taking my car in for an assessment. I took the car in which they looked around and filed a report. They then explained how much the repair would COST ME!! I explained that I am not paying a penny as the accident was not my fault. They told me that what information they had received from One Quote Direct said that the fault lied with me. I could not believe this. I range them instantly from which they said they couldn't help because they had closed the incident and as far as they're concerned the matter was finished. I tried to keep my composure and ask how they thought they could justify closing an incident when my car isn't yet fixed? I got fobbed off. I then asked that why are fords offering me a small fiesta when I needed a like for like replacement while my car was getting fixed? They recommended that I hire a car and "Try to recoup the expense from the third party." Aren't they supposed to do that?!!! What exactly am I paying them for?

Long story short(ish) my car never got fixed. I had to drive around with a dent on my right wing that wasn't my fault.

Recently I have purchased a new car and cancelled insurance with One Quote Direct who are now trying to chase me for £75 cancellation fee. Not a chance.

Please, do not use them. They are a sham.

Putting spurious prices on comparison sites?

They put a price on Compare The Market for my car insurance cover at £654.41, it went up to £1,259.07 for no reason when I clicked the button to go onto the website. I rang them to query it & the only explanation was that their perception of risk may have changed in that second. Although I wasn't going to use them I went through the process again and the same thing happened. It felt very dishonest to me & I told the customer service agent the same. Be careful.

If I could give zero stars I would

If I could give zero stars, I would.

Took out car insurance with them. All going fine.

Yesterday, an email arrived from them and said there was an issue with a payment due a couple of days ago. I didn't know there was even a problem. I've certainly not had a problem with any of my payments before. Couldn't get into my insurance account. Tried to check with my bank, but the bank app was down (as were the ones of other banks too - it was a nationwide issue - it was very highly publicised in online news sites, TV news channels etc). Couldn't go in branch either because it was - yup - a bank holiday. All I could do was try to sort it out the next day when the bank was open (today) - not a bank holiday.

Had to go to work this morning. Managed to persuade my boss to let me have the afternoon off work as annual leave so I could ring One Quote Direct, and also call into my bank to find out what the issue was as I have never missed a car insurance payment. So only one day since they'd contacted me - and not even one half of a working day since they'd got in touch with me. Fair enough, right? Giving someone just a few short hours to get in touch. Get hold of the bank, find what the issue is, and if it was a payment that had not gone out, get onto the insurance website and make a payment immediately. I didn't even know if a missing payment was an issue, because I hadn't been able to find out, and all their message of yesterday (1.1.20) said was "A letter regarding a recent event is available on your online account and you will need to take urgent action.

But...before I even left work for the afternoon today, not even my lunchtime, I get an email from One Quote Direct, saying they have cancelled my car insurance with immediate effect. What??? With only one half of a working day notice??? Not even five hours of a working day. For a payment that I hadn't even had time to find out what the issue was with it? They cancel your entire year's insurance with just half a working day's notice before you can even find out what the problem is.

No letter.

No email except the one dated 1st January bank holiday day.

No phone call.

No text.

Nothing.

Cancelled an entire year's worth of insurance just like that.

No apology, no assistance, nothing.

Left me stranded at work with no insurance on my car, and having lost half a day's annual leave I'd asked for to try to see what was going on. I never even got time to use the leave to find out what the issue was. And if the payment turned out to be late, then it wasn't even two working days late.

Seriously, how can a company even do that?

Needless to say, I'll be writing a complaint to them, with a copy going to the insurance ombudsman.

On the upside, my car insurance is due for renewal in three months, and over the past few weeks I've been inundated with other insurance companies offering me £200 a year less than One Quote Direct have been charging me, so I'm taking up one of their offers.

So don't waste your time and money. Go elsewhere unless you want a company cancelling your insurance with just a few hours of a working day notice. Because, quite simply, as a customer, you deserve better. I deserve better.

It's just a shame that it is only today that I've come onto Trustpilot today and found how bad this company really are.

shambles

Asked for a quote to swap my policy to a new car, the told me I’d get a call on Monday, I called on Monday to say I wasn’t picking the car up at lunch and needed the quote ASAP. No call, so I went elsewhere, then on Tuesday they called and I explained what happened and they had the cheek to ask me for a cancellation fee. I asked them to call back later for it as I didn’t have my card and the lady on the phone told me they can’t call back as they’re about 5 days behind on their calls at the moment and in that time they would send out debt collectors. Shambles isn’t a word I’d usually use for a company, but I’d use it for this one as I don’t want to swear on trust pilot

Honestly the ratings speak for itself

Honestly the ratings speak for itself, this must be one of the worst insurances ever, they are scammers.
Opened up an insurance policy online, and uploaded all documents require using their terrible upload system, they then sent me a letter saying if you dont send in documentation then your policy will be canceled, I called up and got an email to send it all over. They still were having trouble finding all documents, but finally found them.
I had one discrepancy with my address as I had recently moved, but I still provided proof of address, they did not tell me anything was wrong but received and email saying my policy has been cancelled. I had paid upfront charge and now they are charging me additional for cancellation of £75. It takes 20+ minutes holding time to speak to them.
Cannot stress enough to others to avoid this scam company. !!!!!! Zero Stars!!!!!

Request proof of no claims when sent they say is not adequate despite sending the exact document they had asked for, my renewal quote. Any reason possible to increase the premium.
Despite opting out of marketing calls and trying to resolve the above they insist on calling for the sale of added extras! Of course these people are only in the sales team and not able to assist with anything else so I spend my whole work break on hold!
Would I purchase again no never, would I recommend, not a chance
Pathetic service
