ORVIS IS A SCAM!
I wouldn't pay $5 for things they advertise for $89! All their products look great on their website, but what I receive in the mail is a fake, half attempt at some form of imitation they advertise. I will never buy from Orvis again! I'm more tempted to call the BBB and my attorney for the scam they're running!!
What a mess!
I ordered two women's tees. I was sent one and a shirt that I did not order. Never received the second tee that I did order. Customer service was not helpful. I am returning the one tee I did receive, (not the quality I expected), and the unknown item that was sent to me. I have reached out several times and still not resolved. I either need the second tee or my money refunded. This was my first and last order with Orvis.

Avoid this store like the plague
Avoid this store like the plague! I had the misfortune of ordering an item from them, almost 250 bucks, overpriced but supposedly the quality was great. Anyway, item arrives, does not fit me (which is another issue altogether, I ordered a size 40 for a jacket, my usual size, this was tailored by amateurs, it was way too big). So I return the thing promptly and obviously expected a refund just as promptly. A week later still no refund, call them up, some lady tells me it can take 3 weeks. I tell her that's unacceptable, tells me it's the pandemic, we go back and forth, two and a half weeks later still no refund.
I also posted a negative review on their website. What do you know? the review magically never showed up. Also, the lady on the phone told me they were going to charge me for shipping. At this point, I'll be lucky to even get a refund at all.
If you have issues with them and your credit card company allows it, dispute the charge. That's what I did. Hopefully, they'll now give me my money back.

After receiving the correct order, I returned two shirts, as they were too large and made of a heavier material than expected. I didn’t do an exchange, but was expecting a full refund. I was charged full shipping, returned shipping, and tax on shipping. Almost $27.00 for TWO shirts!! During a pandemic when online shopping is a must, I will be more selective where I shop. EVERYONE is offering free shipping. I cannot recommend ORVIS for this reason.
Traditional yet Modern
For Fly Fishing I find their accessories to be of a consistent high quality. The tradition behind them is reassuring but their style has kept right up to date. Speedy delivery during lockdown 🎣 .

I bought a dog bed that was too small and returned for another dog bed. They stated how easy it was , just 6.95 to return. They didn't say that they would not return the full amount of the first purchase. Beside the $6.95, they withheld shipping and handling for the grand total of $24.39. It sounds like their 100% customer satisfaction is a total hoax!
Horrible Experience
I would never place another order with Orvis!!!!!!!! I received a $299.00 Barbour jacket as a Christmas gift. I needed a different size. When I called, I was told that the quickest way was to purchase another, pay $6.95 shipping for the return and then they would refund my card once they received the UPS return. I agreed. They charged my card. I received my jacket. Four weeks later, still no refund. In the meantime, the second jacket didn't fit just right. I returned the second one. Again putting it on my credit card, paying the shipping, and it would be refunded to my card once they received it back. I did receive the new jacket. It fits. Can't stand to look at it now due to all the hassle. I have finally received the first refund 4.5 weeks later. UPS delivered the 2nd return to them 9 days ago. Still no refund to my card. Customer service is TERRIBLE. Let me repeat. Their customer service and return policy is the worst service that I have ever received. Complete rip off!!!!!!!!!!!! Would not recommend that anyone do online business with them.

I purchased a jacket online before the holidays. It was not a good fit, and a returned it to the store on December 29. Instead of issuing me a refund on the spot, which they should have done, I was given a pink slip of paper and told that a refund to my paypal will come within a week. 24 days and 3 calls to customer service later, I have no refund. While the reps on my first 2 calls were friendly and as helpful as they could be. The rep on my 3rd call was argumentative and actually said in a very rude voice, WOW I GUESS YOU NEED A REALLY HIGH LEVEL OF DETAIL..... when I asked her if she could please tell me what "system" she was referring to when she said my refund was "entered into the system." Unacceptable, especially considering that Orvis has been holding on to over $300 of mine for almost a month.

I canceled a pending order with another company who told me there is a "waiting line" for a hard to get pair of Swarovski binoculars because their website and their customer service rep assured me they had them in stock. Orvis then made a pending charge claim against my credit card same day. Two days later they contacted me to verify the purchase, again assured me they were in stock and would expedite shipping. Today an email tells me they don't have them in stock, never did, and they won't ship until March 2021. I don't write bad reviews, I just don't go back, but I canceled a long standing order because I was assured they were "in stock". Does "in stock" mean something else to Orvis?

I have a rod Orvis Clearwater Spey rod and the tip broke two eyelets down. I mailed it in and they are telling me that this repair will take anywhere from 4-7 WEEKS. That’s absolutely insane. I guess I have to find a new Spey/Switch rod ASAP with a good warranty and repair service.

The clothing products are way over priced and the quality is China quality. CHEAP AND POORLY MADE. I wouldn't buy a napkin from them. Two flannel shirts had holes in them after one wash. What a poor company. The CEO is a disgrace.
Terrible Customer Service
Ordered a replacement rod tip in the beginning of July. Was told 3 day shipping. Then a month later still haven't received it. Call in, guy tells me it'll ship next week. Next week comes, no shipping info. Call in and they say another month. Soon I just said screw it, it'll show up when it shows up. Sure enough though, I get it finally in October and now I'm double charged which happened the last time I needed a replacement tip. This company has become a total joke.

Skip this Orvis all together in Jackson WY if you can help it. The high prices at Orvis are tolerated because of the quality of products AND superior customer service. You can get one without the other at pretty much any store. I went in to exchange a broken umbrella with a lifetime warranty. Orvis is famous for their unmatched return policy and making defective purchases right. Right away they had to call in a manager for this (bad start) and the very first thing he said to me was, "you have a receipt?" Really? Keeping a receipt for an umbrella? When I told him no, he automatically said there was nothing he could do. I had to ask him to even look me up. When he did, he said I haven't made any purchases in a while, without even checking for the umbrella... So? The umbrella has a lifetime warranty... Then he said "he had no way to know if I even bought it at that store." Really?? First off, why in the world should it matter to a manager which location I bought it in?? Second off, it says Orvis all over it! Lol! Some manager! He wasn't willing to work with or even listen to me at all. He acted put out that I was even asking for his help. Not at all polite or friendly. I worked at Orvis for years and we always bent over backwards for returns and defective products. I once exchanged a 5 year old shirt at the managers request because the collar was fading. That's The kind of experience you'd expect from a place like Orvis! At least you used to. Sure gave a lot of fuss about exchanging a $30 umbrella with a warranty and still didn't do it. Is Orvis really struggling that much?...so I went next door to T. J. MAXX and returned some sheets I had just as long, with no receipt, and they politely gave me a store refund for the full price! Lol, Orvis should be fully EMBARRASSED for being totally showed up by T. J. MAXX customer service! Why bother paying a manager salary to someone that deals with a situation like that? Anyone at all could've done that! He needs to be demoted to an associate and have someone that cares about their job and their store's reputation take over. Surprising high amount of low ratings for an Orvis.. says a lot. Maybe I'll try the next one I find. I'll probably stop shopping there though after this. Maybe Orvis is still of great repute elsewhere, but don't expect that here. You and your money are nothing more than an annoyance here. If they're looking for stores to close post COVID, they should really take a second look at this one. Find a different tackle store or wait till can find the next Orvis. Not worth the hassle or experience for the high prices
Update: I just spoke with Orvis customer service. I'm being sent a new product in 3 days! It was very simple. Obviously just a bad manager doing a poor job. Easy fix...

Absolutely terrible customer service
Absolutely terrible customer service. DO NOT purchase fishing rods from them- their warranty is NOT TRUE. My husband purchased the Clearwater fly fishing rod that broke as he was casting after less than 2 months of purchasing the rod. On top of the poor quality of the rod, the customer service is terrible. When he purchased his rod, Orvis guaranteed a lifetime warranty. THIS IS MISLEADING!!!!
Instead of sending him a new rod - which is what any respectable company would do - he had to pay $60 for a replacement part for his rod that was “guaranteed to be received within 5 days.” It has been over a month and he hasn’t received the part. The store will not issue a new rod. Customer service doesn’t have an answer.
We will no longer buy Orvis products and encourage others to do the same.
