Not sure about great experience. Still trying to learn about settings as some it terminology is confusing and foreign to me. However the system appears to work. Just waiting for a power cut to see if... See more

Battery System
Battery System - App, works well and clearly illustrates the working systems data. Easy to use. It does feel a bit dated when comparing to other app layouts and designs these days, but functionally I have had no issues.
Always room for improvement, so looking forward for some updates.
Battery upgrade information
I have just upgraded from a 4kWh battery installed in 2020 to an 8kWh battery because I wanted to save more energy from my solar panels, thereby reducing the import from the grid.
After the upgrade has been running for 9 days I had some questions regarding the operating of the upgrade, the staff at Powervault could not have been more helpful.
I would recommend to anyone who with solar panels wants to keep more of their panels production to consider a Powervault system, They are smart looking, compact panels.
Excellent customer service
I've had a Powervault 8kwh battery for some years. Inevitably, there are a few minor problems, but the customer service team have been brilliant at sorting things out. They are also proactive in alerting (from their monitoring service) when something might be going wrong, which is usually to do with power-cuts in my area.
Enjoying my Powervault
My Powervault has been running for 9 months now. This summer there have been months when I have paid nothing for my electricity. With the recent price rises this is remarkable. Apart from the financial benefits, I also like the feeling that I am doing the right thing by generating and using as much of my own electricity as I can, rather than exporting to the grid, which is much less efficient. An unexpected pleasure has been the Powervault app, which has helped me understand my electicity usage better (I now boil the kettle less often!) But it also lets me monitor what is happening in the house when I am not there (we have had workmen in the house, and I can see how often they boil the kettle!). Overall I am delighted with my Powervault - money well spent.
Powervault P3…
Powervault rang me to see how i was getting on with my battery installation. I told Shane that every thing appears to be working fine, my only concern was that first thing on a morning when the solar starts up it appears on the portal live view to be exporting to the grid before the battery.
Shane got the technical dept. to check from there end, they phoned me straight back to explain that once the current flow from the solar panels increased
it then changed to battery.
I am highly delighted with installation and response from Powervault and would recommend to anyone
8 kW battery
We have had our 8 kW battery for a few months now and are happy, especially in the current climate of rising costs. We decided to invest to save money in the longer term as we have a fully electric house with air source heat pump and two electric cars. We have 16 solar panels and a smart meter, this is a must if you wish to maximise the usage.
Service - I am a fairly demanding client who has a busy life and can therefore be quite direct (not rude but more lets cut out the chit chat), I know what I want, can you supply this. I approach from the angle that I am paying for a service, therefore I expect a fairly decent service...... So, I worked with a few Powervault staff and they all worked really well with me. Calls were answered, emails were responded to. I did have to chase a few bits up, but in reality this was for my own requirement for an update and the process on Powervaults side was moving along fine.Well done to PV for appeasing me. Happy with the service.
Installation - My biggest gripe. One installer for the whole of Scotland. I could see the extras being added to make this worth the engineers efforts. I was hit with added extras for instalment which I really grudged. There was a clause for fees for travel time to a location if over a certain time/distance, fine fair enough. HOWEVER, competent, clean job, installed within a relatively quick window, came home to a working system. Happy, overall. I did run cables myself to help reduce the engineers costs.
System - App, works well and clearly illustrates the working systems data. Easy to use. It does feel a bit dated when comparing to other app layouts and designs these days, but functionally I have had no issues.
Do not underestimate the size of the unit, 8 kW is a hefty size. We have lost one cupboard due to this, but the goal is to save money. We are glad to have stretched ourselves to this battery capacity though. This works really well with the 16 solar panels and we are happy.
The fans, the unit has cooling fans and it is mentioned. The fans vary in speed depending on the demand (charging or discharging), so they do go loud and quiet. I thought i had made a huge error installing this for the first two days, I felt i could hear it everywhere. On day three I was totally use to it. It is noticeable however, it is not silent!
Points to note. You do require a hardline internet connection. There is a noticeable noise from the fans. The app is good. The service was good. We are happy to date.
Solar battery storage for our small family farming business
We are a small family farming business which has diversified into a farm shop, butchery and mail order business as well as, until Covid, a festival and party catering side. In 2020 we installed a 56 Kwh solar pv array on one of our barns as part of our journey towards the greatest possible degree of environmentally responsible food production. In 2021 we started to investigate adding a battery storage system for the surplus power that we were generating but not using. Having spoken to quite a number of possible suppliers we decided upon Powervault and the installation of three 12 KWh battery arrays took place in May 2022.
I have to say that the whole process has been fascinating and is proving a wise decision. All points of contact with the Powervault have been easy and positive and their team, from the delivery of the batteries to the follow up by various of their team, answering questions etc. have been terrific.
The app for monitoring the functioning of the system is a thing of beauty and constant fascination which appeals to nerds and non-nerds alike. It works on our mobiles as well as on our desk-tops.
I really cannot fault the process and we are in discussion about adding further battery storage capacity in due course.
Great product
I really like the product, and the effect of the product - combining with a specialised EV energy tariff and home solar really enables to get the most out of it.
Physical installation did go smoothly, though it would have been good to get an idea of the stages to go through for the sales process (home survey, possible engineer visit, deposit, manufacture, delivery, install, commissioning) before feeling like I was committed.
As purchase was by paying a deposit against pro-forma invoice, there wasn't a way to track the order and see the progress online - communication was by phone and email with the Powervault team, which did give a personal feel to the experience.
Where it could have been better was on clarity that the unit does not have its own wifi adaptor, so unless you can run a cable to it, there may be a cost to install extra socket and a powerline or range extender solution. I didn't need this for my project, but getting that understanding took a bit of extra time.
Lastly, there was an extra cost for installation due to the distance away of my closest installer. This did sneak up on me at the point of paying the balance, and knowing this ahead of time would have been better.
Great product , already seeing savnigs.
Although a fairly pricey investment I can already see savings on the unit I had installed. Had only a few very minor technical issues that were fixed promptly after phoning the company. The device doesn't need any ongoing monitoring as you just set it up and leave it to do its thing.
Saving me money
Unit developed a software fault after 12 months - this took out one of the batteries for a time but was fixed via a remote software update. It's now working well. I'm charging the unit at night for 4.5p / kWh and using it in the day - which works great for me.
I’ve owned a Powervault G200 4kWh for over 4 years
I’ve owned a Powervault G200 4kWh storage system for four and a half years. I bought it to store some of the surplus output from my solar panels for later use. My purchase was subsidised by UKPN as part of a trial.
When the weather is dull I now also use it to buy electricity when it’s cheapest to avoid buying electricity later when it’s most expensive.
It’s not been faultless, but it’s much more reliable than some of my other energy tech products. I’ve found the staff responsive to my technical queries.
I’m a satisfied customer.
Doesn't work very well - an expensive mistake
Sorry for the poor review but the purchase of this system has not been one of my wise ideas and has been a poor investment. I bought an 8kw system end of 2019 for £5k and EON paid £2k for some use of it (£7k total). It is married to my solar roof and I thought a great addition to all the eco changes we made to our house and the addition of two electric cars. We were practically carbon neutral. I purchased it following seeing a piece about it on the fully charged show and when EON were contributing £2k I thought it was a great idea. It started well with only a few glitches here and there which were dealt with by restarting the system. The system then started tripping the consumer unit and when I checked the portal I would see that the system had been off for days, sometimes more. There is nothing to tell you what the system is doing without you logging onto the portal unlike my solar roof. My system is situated in the garage so I hardly ever see it. The system worked ok for about 6 months but then I had the tripping problems. I have now turned the system off and put the whole thing down to a bad investment on mine and EON's part. I now use the batteries from my electric cars to take the excess solar power and that works well in storing the excess power generated so we can use it rather than exporting it. But the idea of this system is to use solar power generated during the day at night which is a brilliant eco idea. It has not worked for me with this system and unfortunately I cannot recommend it. I am left with an expensive mistake and a rather large lithium Ion battery taking space in my garage 🙄. Thank you.
